I want to smell amazing

I'm off to a work conference soon - can anyone recommend me a perfume that will be strong and will make people think "ooh she smells amazing" I hardly ever get that comment. I want to make an impression and my work crush is going to be there

Chanel Coco. Even at 60 I get men sidling up to me to compliment me on my perfume. I have worn it since my 20s and it’s my husband’s favourite.

Honestly, this is a crazy way to even think of buying perfume.

It's such personal taste. Just going by a name on here that someone else likes is mad, you might entirely hate it. More to the point, so might he!

The most sensible thing would be to research the 'Molecule' or 'Pheromone' type perfumes which are supposed to react to you and intensify your own scent.

No good relationship ever came of random chemicals in a bottle that someone else likes or once got a compliment on. Sorry Grin

I find Lost Cherry by Tom Ford very sexy, if that helps. It's expensive though

Isitfridayyetsophie · 26/11/2024 20:19

I’d be inclined to try and find a moisturiser of the scent you already use, so it’s one associated with you, then layer it with the moisturiser, so you won’t be overpowering but will still smell good?

I've ordered this, it sounds exactly the type of scent I like and fits the event. Thank you everyone 💓

You are right, I want to lure him in on my own merits though not through pheromones 😄 the smelling nice bit is just a bonus. If he doesn't like it then he's not the man for me 😄

Strong perfumes I love are:
Giorgio Beverly Hills
Knowing - Estee Lauder
Poison
Je Revien(s?) - Worth
Eden - Cacherel
Lou Lou - Cacherel

They are so strong! I hated most of them, I'm afraid.

OP, do you really want to wear something strong? I love perfume but don't think it's going to make the difference between him liking you or not.

I think it's more to make myself feel confident and hopefully memorable even if it's just 'wow thats strong perfume'

I'll be careful to only use a small amount!

Definitely use oud, I get compliments all the time. The dior oud is more feminine than the gucci oud I wear.

tobee · 26/11/2024 20:27

I like lots of the above mentioned. However, Chanel Cristalle is a fabulous one and people often mention it on here as one that makes them feel confident 👍

Dollybantree · 26/11/2024 20:27

I Second penhaligons halfeti (it’s pricey though -£200) or Caroline Herrera good girl - I get lots of compliments wearing that.

Rose Prick by Tom Ford (another £200 a pop one!) is divine - all Tom Ford perfumes are pretty special and smell strong (IMO)

Pomegranate noir by jo malone is a classic and again always gets me compliments and 50ml is about £60.

Gaz98 · 26/11/2024 20:27

Good luck! Wish I had a work crush 🤣

Skyrainlight · 26/11/2024 20:30

I detest the smell of strong perfumes, I think people who wear them smell terrible and I keep my distance wherever possible.

Gosh. Hope you’re not her work crush.

JMAngel1 · 26/11/2024 20:32

Angels Share is my top 3 favourite winter fragrance - you have chosen well!!
My other favourites are TF Lost Cherry and JM Golden Vanilla and Vetiver (or Myrhh and Tonka - can never decide which one I like best!).

mintich · 26/11/2024 20:34

Bianco latte and Another 13 are perfumes that I always get people commenting on. Men seem to prefer the bianco latte and women Another 13!

😄😄😄 I think he likes me however I smell but at this conference I want to knock him dead (not literally)

JOY by PATOU.

Wherethewildthingsfart · 26/11/2024 20:44

Chloroform?

LollipopsandCrisps · 26/11/2024 20:48

I've had colleagues and people stop me to ask what my perfume is - Luna, Penhaligons... or Juniper Sling is also gorgeous.

MoleAndBadger · 26/11/2024 20:49

Has anyone purchased any of the latest perfumes by Victoria Beckham? I've only tried Portofino and it smells amazing but is expensive (for me).

Guildfordfamily · 26/11/2024 20:58

I'm late to the party here but I often wear Liz Earle no 15. I get so many compliments on it, and its a really good price.

Iamuhtredsonofuhtred · 26/11/2024 21:02

I’ve recently got obsessed with Le labo perfumes, they are expensive but oh so good. You’d need to test them out first and find the one that speaks to you, they tend to stock them in selfridges

Does anyone remember the old Tunes advert?🤣
