I've accidentally gone ginge and I'm so far out of my comfort zone. Do I reach for the bown dye.

So I've been dark dark for a decade. New start new me etc promoted me to reach for the bleach....chicken wine might have been involved. I feel so not me. Do I keep it or go back to the dark side. I feel like I look like a golden retriever but not in a good way.

Wow you look 10 years younger with the new colour, looks great :)

Mine are white at the front when they come through so are my eyebrows. I don't think I could manage a root smudge on my own but definitely something to consider when it grows out cos I won't know what to do.

I use the Wella semi-permanent masks to practice 😂 then just paint on an inch of the mask onto my roots at the front of my face and my parting (I never wear my hair up so don’t really need to do it anywhere else) and then just use a comb to brush down to blend it. Surprisingly easy!

carly2803 · 19/11/2024 20:28

that colour (red) absolutely gorgeous on you!!
keep it!

Misorchid · 19/11/2024 20:28

I seem to be on my own here, but I think you look much better with the darker hair. More dramatic and your eyes really stand out. You look more ordinary with the ginger.

id go back to brown if I were you, but maybe slightly lighter.

AnneKipankitoo · 19/11/2024 20:29

The ginge looks great on you. It is very good with your skin tone and eye colour.

Does it not look stripy if you know what I mean how do you get it to blend

Using a comb or even a brush to drag it down helps to blend it.

BalthzarTheCamel · 19/11/2024 20:35

Ooh I’m liking that OP! Makes you look younger and a bit ‘brighter’ (if that’s what I mean😁) You’ll need to change your make up for sure, but I do think that hair colour suits you!👍

Oh yeah the ginger/reddish colour looks great @Redlarge Not so keen on the near black dye (sorry.) I don't think dyed black hair suits anyone hardly. Natural black hair obviously suits people - as it's their natural colour! But dyed black...? Nope.

What is chicken wine?!

It's french rose wine with a chicken drawing on the front. From sainsburys. Le ville femme or something. It's really nice far too affordable and drinkable and influences impulsive decisions. Try it ha . Then post your new hair colour ha.

I much prefer the red. You look like one of my friends actually with the red hair, I had to double take!

I feel like I need to change my make up and colour of clothes. Funny how unsteady a hair colour can make you isn't it.

Ginger really suits you! Go lighter as you get older, the dark is too dark.

Also, what is chicken wine!!

Oceangreyscale · 19/11/2024 20:45

Keep it, it looks great.

Ah thank you! I have never heard of it! Smile

EveryOtherNameTaken · 19/11/2024 20:47

Prefer the red. The dark brown looks too harsh and I think is unflattering.

Keep the lighter one - much more flattering!

MissMoan · 19/11/2024 20:48

@Redlarge you look lovely!

TypingoftheDead · 19/11/2024 20:50

The red looks lovely! I went with black hair several years ago, I liked it (though it wasn’t as much of a change since I’m already a brunette/dark blonde) but was too lazy to keep dyeing roots etc. but I did feel different, better, for that change.

Yogachick · 19/11/2024 19:34

Love the ginger, looks more natural than the dark which ( no offence intended) looks quite harsh so more aging

This. The red is so so so much nicer on you OP!

MindfulAndDemure · 19/11/2024 20:55

You look younger, prettier, and far more elegant with the red. It's lovely.

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 19/11/2024 20:56

I'm going to be honest, you are absolutely stunning with lovely skin, gorgeous shiny hair and gorgeous eyes too. I think you're one of those people any hair colour suits. Personally though (and this is only my opinion) I think the really dark colour was a little too harsh and a bit dated, and the ginger is a little too wishy washy and makes you look a bit older for some reason. I think you would suit either a really really vibrant red (you have the looks to carry it off I feel) or a nice chocolate brown with caramel bits in it. I have absolutely no style or experience by the way, it's just what came to mind when Considering your looks and colouring. And I'm really jealous. Whatever your decide enjoy it!

I was thinking if I don't get used to it to maybe get some honey/caramel highlights.

The copper colour really suits you and takes years off you. Looks absolutely fab.

Redlarge · 19/11/2024 19:33

Thank you. I was feeling like i was getting to old for it if I'm honest. Not felt fully comfortable for a while but you kind of stick to what you know if you know what I mean.

I did that for far too long and I look back at photos and I cringe. Not that I think your dark hair is cringeworthy but I know exactly what you mean.

abracadabra1980 · 19/11/2024 21:16

Ps: a full head of dyed dark hair suits nobody and may I snobbishly say, often makes the client look rather 'cheap'. I'm in the industry 😊

I agree. I felt uncomfortable but also weirdly in my comfort zone. I knew it aged me
