So I've been dark dark for a decade. New start new me etc promoted me to reach for the bleach....chicken wine might have been involved. I feel so not me. Do I keep it or go back to the dark side. I feel like I look like a golden retriever but not in a good way.

The ginger suits you. I love it!! It also looks better than the very dark colour you had previously

TimeForATerf · 19/11/2024 20:05

Red hair suits you and looks far more natural than the dark.

i also like chicken wine.

daisydalrymple · 19/11/2024 20:05

I thought chicken wine was a phrase for you reaching for the wine so you didn’t chicken out of dying your hair 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣
absolutely love the new colour on you, I agree with pp it looks softer.
what colour are your roots when they grow through?

Julianne65 · 19/11/2024 20:05

It’s gorgeous! That’s the red I would love.

TurkeyLurkey4 · 19/11/2024 20:07

Lucky you, you can really pull off both! I think the red hair looks gorgeous.

Mugcake · 19/11/2024 20:07

The ginger is so nice!! Really suits you. It's s big change do you'll feel a bit strange at first but you look great!

Omg ha ha you could well be right. It's white at the front and mousy brown the rest. One of the reasons the upkeep on the dark was getting so stressful

I think it looks great too. Very natural.

Love the ginger, looks more natural than the dark which ( no offence intended) looks quite harsh so more aging

I agree, the lighter hair takes years off you. It looks gorgeous! It might make you feel more confident to have a root smudge or something - I always get self conscious about having really light roots, I don’t know why!

Writerscompanion · 19/11/2024 20:12

It looks really lovely, I much prefer it to pic 2. Well done doing it yourself!

I'm learning to choose colours for my gorgeously ginger blue eyed baby (being blonde/natural mousy myself), she looks amazing in navy and most shades of green, also lavender, black, russety orange, pale pink. I avoid beige/cream/white/yellow which wash her out. Enjoy finding your new style!

YellowRoom · 19/11/2024 20:12

I was wondering when someone was going to explain what chicken wine was before i had to Google - thank you! New hair looks superb.

Mine are white at the front when they come through so are my eyebrows. I don't think I could manage a root smudge on my own but definitely something to consider when it grows out cos I won't know what to do.

I'm impressed you did it yourself! You've done a cracking job

evtheria · 19/11/2024 20:15

It looks so natural!

I'd keep it for a bit, nothing like being that shade for the autumn/winter period and it's less harsh on paler skin in the cold months.

BoobyDazzler · 19/11/2024 20:15

It really suits you and it’s much more flattering than the dark, you look younger!

Teaandsympathy34 · 19/11/2024 20:17

You really suit the red colour. Looks like it could be your natural colour, and is very classy and elegant.

I'm naturally mousy/dishwater blonde

The ginge is great! Makes you look younger and is more classy imo.

ForGreyKoala · 19/11/2024 20:19

I think your new colour makes you look a lot younger, and the dark is just too harsh. However, it's your hair and you need to feel comfortable yourself, no matter what others think.

Milknosugarta · 19/11/2024 20:23

The soft auburn is gorgeous on you. That was my natural colour (faded now to an ashy blonde). Blues, greens, golds will look fabulous with it. I'm a little envious.

IncessantNameChanger · 19/11/2024 20:24

It really suits you I think it's a bit natural looking but look fab dark too. I'd wait and see how you feel after a few weeks. But it really suits you

Thank you. I need to steer clear from my greys and beige I think.

Gosh it really suits you. I much prefer it to the dark. Your new colour makes your skin look so healthy and glowing, not washed out at all.

GretchenWienersHair · 19/11/2024 20:25

I love it. You look like two completely different people (both gorgeous, but different) so it’s understandable that it will take some getting used to, but honestly it looks great.
