Looks fine to me - although I did wonder why she was carrying a black bin bag until I looked more closely!

Flat boots always look better with cargo or loose trousers. Bovver boots would be flat lace up like a Doc Marten or similar; they look amazing with trousers like this. Why do you "need" a platform? Heels and cargoes is a bit pop video.

Edited

Oh god no I wasn't thinking of heels like that. More like this sort of thing

Yes! Those would be perfect! I'm smallish and I do this sort of look quite a bit. I'm 60.

(Sorry, I had initially visualised Stevie Nicks type boots when you said platforms 😂)

Floisme · 10/11/2024 09:12

I think it looks fine but then I'm biased as it's the kind of thing I wear quite a lot. (Well I wouldn't cuff the trousers that high or carry a bag that didn't leave my arms free but that's just my personal taste.) I don't think the trousers are particularly baggy. For reference, I'm 5'3 and 68.

Thatscharming · 10/11/2024 09:12

I like the look and think it looks up to date but I don’t wear it myself. I am small and have the same problem with the trousers if they are too baggy or the pockets are too obvious.

BrassyLocks · 10/11/2024 09:19

Yes to everything but the bin bag handbag (missing the point of the thread). I'm same age and 5'3. Love my cargos and my docs.

bevelino · 10/11/2024 09:22

@EightAmendment please could you say where the black lace up boots are from. They are exactly what I am looking for.

I wish I knew!! I saved the photo last winter because I liked them so much but no idea where they're from. I have found these from Camper which I have my eye on

The boots make it look a bit dated. The rest of the outfit is fine, not particularly fashionable, but I don’t think it will raise any eyebrows in disgust!

It is pretty much the look right now. It's hard for those of us who were around for it the first time Cargo pants were in 😆

WingBingo · 10/11/2024 09:30

I think it’s a really cool look. Giving me an idea as I have recently bought a pair of similar trousers.

Newyearnewnameagain20 · 10/11/2024 09:42

I like everything apart from the shine on the jacket, which makes me assume it’s a tuxedo jacket and looks weird. Blazer would be fine

Startingagainandagain · 10/11/2024 09:50

I like it and would wear similar but with low-heeled, chunky boots.

Looks good but I’m not really a fan of blazers. I find them boring! I’d prefer it with a fabulous chunky cropped cardi or a textured top with some colour.

Morven7 · 10/11/2024 10:38

I like it

RuthW · 10/11/2024 11:06

I think it looks scruffy and wearer hasn't bothered.

Cocolapew · 10/11/2024 11:08

I dress like this but I don't wear cargos, this year Im obessed with cords, I shorter them rather than turn up and wear DMs or Fly London.

Not at all. It's actually one of my go to outfits and something I wear variations off.
This is actually on one of my pinterest boards that I use for inspiration!

Edited to add re. trousers - look at YMC and Girls of Dust. Both will have similar but without the pocket on the leg.

JackieGoodman · 10/11/2024 11:21

No, I like it, am 52. I love cargo trousers though, never stopped wearing them I don't think, pockets! And am delighted they are back in the shops.
I have them in khaki canvas, black denim and black satin (my new faves for "out out" )

Yeah, I'd wear it with a cardi type jacket or a sweater, I don't wear blazers.

DieStrassensindimmernass · 10/11/2024 11:35

I don't have a problem with any of the items themselves but wouldn't wear together. Am late 40s.

VivianLea · 10/11/2024 11:41

Replace the cargo with wool trousers and this is how I go to work, and I'm 31.

BetterInColour · 10/11/2024 11:42

This is one of the more fashionable outfits I've seen on S and B! Fantastic everyday wear. Good winter colours, high quality leather boots chunky or low heel but with a bit of substance. I love a blazer, not too structured, wool or tweed, texture good, not overly smart. If you had posted are skinnies dated, everyone would have been falling over themselves to say a) no, Kate Moss wears them and b) who cares, wear them anyway...
This place is bonkers sometimes.

NewspaperDoll · 10/11/2024 11:56

I’m 55 and also wear this look (although I’d replace the blazer with a cropped wool coat and chunky flat boots not heels). Love it OP!!
