Everyday jumper needed

SunnySideDownUp · 06/11/2024 18:02

I need a new everyday jumper. Medium thickness, machine washable, smart whilst comfy, not tight fitting but not too baggy.

I'm tall so it needs decent length arms and body. I'm a size 18, tall and broad.

I can't find anything I like, please help me!

I bought one that meets your requirements from Primark

SunnySideDownUp · 06/11/2024 20:10

Thanks, I was hoping for an online option!

My current favorite is one from Primark last year. DH spotted it and bought it for me without consultation, and it's amazing.

Otherwise, just dropping in for suggestions! Ideally not acrylic!

This may be too casual, but I have it in two colours. Washes well, fairly short cut ( just below waist) ; I have long arms and it’s perfect.

If this one doesn’t work, look at H&M, they have surprised me.

Turtleneck jumper - Greige marl - Ladies | H&M GB

Short, loose-fit jumper in a soft knit with a ribbed turtle neck and long saddle sleeves with exposed seams. Ribbing at the cuffs and hem.

I have just bought this one from FatFace in the turquoise / teal colour, warm but not heavy, nice length on body and arms, lovely detailing.

This is from the women’s section, but actually they do better colours for men, and the proportions might work better for you:

I always find acrylic and/ or polyester always goes bobbly in a few washes, even when washed on the wool programme. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks - I have 2 perfect jumpers from H&M, but the 2024 colours are just not me 😥

Not heard of this brand but loving the options, thank you.

The Community Clothing lambswool knitwear is lovely, but not machine washable.

Uniqlo merino jumpers are my go-to. I wash them on a wool cycle (in a delicates bag for extra care) and find they last well. Good range of colours too.

Massimo Dutti are always my go to for jumpers.
The fit is amazing and very washable.

Uniqlo merino has always worked very well for me, though apparently not fpr others. I find acrylic very itchy.

This is perfect 🤩 but annoyingly not in my size.

I have ordered two others from there to try, thank you!

Following with interest, I tried loads on in Next on Monday and they all looked awful.

Check out White Stuff

Doggymummar · 07/11/2024 15:18

My local Marks had some gorgeous stuff today.

OldTinHat · 07/11/2024 15:22

I'm currently wearing my favourite jumper. I bought it from sainsburys last year and I'm an 18 too.

Have you looked at any of the supermarket clothes?

Bestinshow22 · 07/11/2024 16:39

@AltitudeCheck I have two of those, really easy to wear and a good choice of colours.

whalesonthebus · 07/11/2024 16:55

M&S merino crew neck jumpers are my go-to for every day. They are fine knit, cost £35 and wash brilliantly in the machine.

Yes, I buy from Sainsbury's regularly, my current favourite t shirt is from there. I'll have another look but nothing in recently that caught my fancy.

These are nice, wash well, low price & good range of colours.

My shoulders are too wide and the sleeves too short 🫠

Honestly try the merino ones from M&S - I have weirdly long arms and they still fit well! The super soft ones look nice but don’t suit me at all (massive boobs).
