What do you mean by smart. I found this dress which comes in about 5 or 6 colourways.

Thanks but that to me would be casual.

Smart would be more structured? Smarter fabric?

Karen Millen is good for structured dresses. I'd love an occasion to wear this archive piece

Look at John Lewis where you can filter by maxi and special occasion. Eg this by Gina Bacconi

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/gina-bacconi-fearne-lace-wrap-dress-fuchsia/p112742598?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

Again - for a graduation ceremony?

I know it's a gazillion years since mine but really?

kindertoPTS · 03/11/2024 15:37

@IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle depending on the university, degree, dress code and age of op I think it might be ok... however my point was to look at KM if she is after a structured dress (and that I personally like the one I linked but have nowhere to wear it!)

It's a nice dress but it's an evening dress.

I am aware- I wouldn't over think it!

Octopuscrazy · 03/11/2024 17:12

Thank you, not quite what I'm looking for...

Try mango sometimes they have lovely smart maxi dresses

Dr13Hadley · 03/11/2024 17:35

Not too low a v neck I hope but I like this

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/11/2024 17:52

Boden. Also available in plain black

Inezz · 03/11/2024 17:54

Try Reiss?

ApolloandDaphne · 03/11/2024 17:54

Massive says to me slouchy and unstructured. I think people are struggling to understand the sort of thing you mean. Have you links to anything at all you like? Graduation dresses are usually just smart ordinary length dresses rather than structured maxi dresses.

ScrambledSmegs · 03/11/2024 17:58

Structured in maxi dresses is very hard to find (impossible maybe).

A better bet might be a jumpsuit? There are some really flattering, more structured ones around.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 03/11/2024 17:59

I don't think any of these dresses are suitable for a graduation. Some of them would look completely bonkers at a graduation ceremony. Edit- the Boden one is fine.

Graduation dresses are usually just smart ordinary length dresses rather than structured maxi dresses.

I meant maxi not massive!
