George, poor kid always looks like the weight is on his shoulders.

He looks happy enough when he goes with his dad to the football or cricket. I suspect he is just at that age when he realises the press are about at these events and he has to watch every thing he does incase it is misinterpreted.

William looked exactly the same at that age.

I initially thought it was what she was wearing underneath, but it does look like its sown onto the lapels.

Meanwhile, there’s a State Visit from Egypt in Denmark and Mary wore her new tiara. I think her hair is a bit severe (together with a very structured dress) but the tiara looks good.

And on the bow - I did grimace when I saw it, and Alysee’s too, but am well aware they are currently very fashionable. Lots of the athletes at the Paris Olympics had big bows tied in their hair as they ran, and they are in all the accessories shops. (I did big bows in the 80s and won’t be returning to that look, I think).

So this is probably like the time Kate started wearing a big padded Alice band instead of a hat. We all thought it looked very dated, and then suddenly we discover actually she was just an early adopter of a trend.

Benedikte and Marie also attended.

She has done bows beautifully before. I'm just really not keen on this one.

Mary looks lovely, but I don't like the black sheer tights. Touch of the Fergies.

They are fashionable again, apparently! Another trend comes back around...

The bow on her Trooping ensemble was much better. This one is just a bit too Colonel Sanders.

Yes and particularly at Christmas time any bow that looks flat/stuck on just reminds me of cheap, nasty wrapping bows.

Is Marie's dress the same as the Jenny Packham Kate wore in Pakistan? It looks it. And I'd love to know what Mary is whispering to her in that photo!

Marie looks gorgeous in that dress.

Is that the tiara that used to be a belt @Serenster? I thought I saw something earlier about it and now I think I just dreamed it.

Rather endearingly, James' coat is buttoned up wrong!

Kate's green dress was Vampires Wife I think.

Marie's dress is a lot nicer than the Vampire's Wife dress that Kate wore - it's better cut and it doesn't have that very clumsy flounce/frill at the bottom.

That's Jenny Packham. The green TVW dress is a different one and more cocktail than formal. It's not the first time Kate and the Danish royals have twinned in Packham - put all three in a room together and you'd be hard pressed to tell who's who!

I wasn't keen on the big black bow on the front of the coat.
It looked odd.
Was it Chanel who said before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.
That bow should have come off.
And I love a bow.

Yes it is. I think Mary should have gone with a slightly more elaborate hairstyle (or some height behind it at least) to showcase it a bit better on its first outing. It's a pretty piece but it just looked a tiny bit flat and unremarkable.
