She really has the knack for a hat and that's a very nice one. I like the line of the shoulders of her jacket but the bow does push it a little costume-y. I think she gets away with it though because it's all black.

KillingMeDeftIy · 10/11/2024 12:43

I wonder if it's a new coat or if she's had one from a previous year reworked?

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 10/11/2024 12:45

I love the overall look; she always does such a good job. But I'd rather have had simple shoulders and the bow.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 10/11/2024 12:51

Maxima on Saturday.

Maxima looks incredible - the setting helps! It's very elegant and sculptural, although a little plain for her. Her hair isn't great, though -she looks better with those updos.

Beautiful earrings. A little hat with a veil looks so chic.

Sshh top secret two members of my family are getting dupe earrings for Christmas

Maxima on Saturday.

I've said it before but I like that Maxima doesn't always have "perfect" hair. It makes her seem much more relatable!

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 10/11/2024 13:15

Yes I agree! Perfect hair doesn't suit her exuberant personality and I like it so much that she obviously doesn't feel the need to obsess over her image.

I agree with hats - shes got some stunners. I was a little surprised to see William chose a noticeably navy suit for last night - perhaps black is a little passe now?

I feel sorry for Max. She and I seem to share the post-menopausal thinning hair. It’s a pain in the arse, particularly if you’ve always had lots of hair. Trying to make thin hair look good is extremely difficult.

KillingMeDeftIy · 10/11/2024 14:54

I don't know if it is that. I've seen photos of her in her 30s and she's always had quite fine hair.

QueryA · 10/11/2024 15:07

I think this years coat is 2020s reworked a bit. Which is good that she is reusing coats. Actually in this article you can see she does rewear coats for Remembrance Sunday quite a lot. And she did cycle through a number of the black coats and hats during the weeks after the Queen died.

Yes, this is iteration 3 of this coat. It was first worn as above, then worn again for one of the events following QEII’s death but with the shoulder fringing removed. And now she has swapped the silver buttons for black velvet buttons, and added a velvet bow at the neck.

I did love the dramatic first look, but the revisions make it a much less eye catching, and so presumably more versatile.

hopeishere · 09/11/2024 19:29

Lovely to see her looking well and feeling up to two events. Hope she's building her strength up slowly.

Nice earrings!

I don't think she looks one bit well. Sorry.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 10/11/2024 16:54

I think she looks as well as can be expected.

Let's hope she's on the way to strength and good health.

gingercat02 · 10/11/2024 16:56

I'm just watching on the news (I was out this morning). Kate was very made up yesterday, which ages her a bit, but I think today she looked well, if a little puffy (possibly steroids or chemo)
I suspect KC had a fair bit of makeup on at the Cenotaph. We should probably be more worried about him. He's an old man, and cancer treatment will have hit him very hard (not belittling it for any one, it's terrible regardless of age or general wellbeing)

fedup33 · 10/11/2024 16:41

I don't think she looks one bit well. Sorry.

I have to agree. The treatment really takes it out of you. It takes a long time to recover. What she needs and the family is a Christmas holiday somewhere warm with beaches, the sea and long siestas.

hopeishere · 10/11/2024 17:02

To be boost I thought she didn't look as well today. Very tired. But guess that's to be expected.

Eaumyword · 10/11/2024 17:14

I thought Kate looked elegant as ever but yes, tired.
She did have the service last night though and it must be really hard not to show emotion at such a solemn and sad event.
I cry just watching the wreaths being laid and the marching, so it must be so hard not to be visibly moved by it all.

“Nimrod” gets me every time 🥲

I thought this photo of Kate and Sophie was very poignant

gingercat02 · 10/11/2024 17:53

That's lovely 😍, I know Sophie is technically her aunt (in law). I always think they are more like SiL. Sophie seems very caring.

KillingMeDeftIy · 10/11/2024 17:57

I guess Sophie and Edward are almost as close in age to William and Kate as they are to Charles and Camilla.

DuchessOfPort · 10/11/2024 17:58

I like the Edinburgh / Wales dynamic very much. Edward seems to be peacemaker and happy to chat in a friendly manner to anyone (who may look very relieved to see him!) and I really liked when William and Sophie did an engagement last year - they seemed like a good team.

Perhaps Edward advises William on double breasted acquisitions. “There’s a great vintage stall you must go to before Earthshot..”

I did too. But lovely at the same time.
I thought in some photos Kate looked tired.
