Do comfy heels exist?!

I am going to a black tie event in a few weeks and will be wearing a black midi dress (link below).

Last time I wore this dress, I wore these heels and I was walking like a giraffe that has just left it's mother's womb - so embarrassing.

I'm trying to find some nice black heels that I can actually walk in, that go with this dress. If they happen to be somewhat comfy that would be an added bonus. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much.

Or you could choose differently?

Ganni

Ganni 2

For fashion inspiration you could look at:

Nodaleto

and then look for similar shapes to suit your budget. Zara would probably be good.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 10/10/2024 08:43

Look for a block heel. They're much more comfy and easier to walk in. Plus they seem to be on trend at the moment!

BamberGirl · 10/10/2024 08:46

I love a kitten heel…low but still a nice shape for dressier outfits.

JaninaDuszejko · 10/10/2024 08:51

There is no such thing as a comfy heel. They were originally invented for riding not for walking. You might get slightly better balanced heels if you spend a lot of money but if you want comfort get a pair of flat shoes. If you want to look sexy (I'm guessing from the dress you do) you have to put up with the pain.

These Ganni ones are gorgeous!

Have a look at Esska and Anonymous Copenhagen. Really high heels are always going to be hard to walk in but a mid (4-6cm) kitten, block or cone heel shouldn't be torture. Make sure there's enough space at the front too so your foot isn't too pinched across the toes.

Trickedbyadoughnut · 10/10/2024 10:26

Esska Charlie are always recommended on here as being very comfortable and one day, when I don't have a suddenly leaking roof or an unexpected vet bill, I'll get some.

Meanwhile, I imagine block heels in that osrt of style would be more comfortable:

If in budget - the air and grace heels are VERY comfy, not very high though.

For a higher heel and lower budget, I’ve found the “forever comfort” range of strappy sandals from Next to be quite comfortable (but still what I would call taxi shoes these days)

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 10/10/2024 13:03

Pretty ballerina have lots of gltzy flats or low heels. I've given up on heels- a lot of women have. Glitzy evening flats look fine these days.

I have a beautiful pair of navy suede Manolo Blahniks, mid heel, with a floppy black velvet bow. They were never comfortable.

Some practical advice I hope…

  • If you buy leather, put the hairdryer on them to soften it and then put your feet inside. Then blast it with cold air to set it into shape. Do this in advance of the event.
  • Talcum powder your feet before you put the shoe on. It’ll slide right on & they’ll feel much comfier.
  • If your event is indoors on carpet, any heel is fine. If you’re on hard floor or outside you’ll want something with a platform sole or similar because it’s softer on the balls of your feet.
  • Don’t take them off until your night is over.
  • Don’t wear an ugly shoe that hurts. If you don’t love it, don’t tolerate it 😂
lucysnowe2 · 10/10/2024 13:39

This is going to sound mad but if you're just wearing them inside, high heeled shoes for ballroom dancing are surprisingly comfortable. I think the heels are a bit springy? If you google you might find some suitable ones.

piccolorhinoceros · 10/10/2024 14:53

Something like these, or these (more pricey option).

Those Ganni shoes are awful, I know a girl who has them but I've only just learned they're not even leather for that price.

Tbh though OP, my main concern is your dress. Black tie dress code doesn't mean just a black dress, I don't think that dress is elegant enough. It's too short for a start.

palmtreessunshine · 10/10/2024 15:14

esska heels are brilliant and so comfy!

Gastropod · 10/10/2024 15:21

For max comfort, look for a block heel and avoid overly pointy toes. Any stiletto heel shape will make you wobblier - including kitten heels. In my experience a block heel is much more stable, so you avoid that teetering baby giraffe walk.

palmtreessunshine · 10/10/2024 15:50

Hire some esskas on by rotation. Your feet will thank you

I can't tell if you're being serious or taking the oiss!

Anyway the answer is no, no they don't.

pandora206 · 10/10/2024 16:03

I bought real dance shoes and had them resoled (as the bottoms are suede not rubber). They are very comfortable and easy to wear.

This is the style but there are a lot of others on the site:

Cosy island Grace

honestly I have 2 pairs and you really can walk for a good few hours in them

Sorry that was meant to be a link! Oops lol

Gunpowder · 10/10/2024 16:11

I only wear ballroom/latin dancing shoes if I want heels. So comfy,
