Very excited to be creating this thread to discuss the Pelegrims subscription box - my first one arrived today!

HaveYouHafYourBreak I feel confident that no blame will need to be shared (I have loved all the boxes I’ve had so far 3, the odd thing ive not been a fan of eg the sunblock but overall excellent )😊

HaveYouHadYourBreak · 02/05/2026 10:53

I dont like it. 🤣

Objectively it is a great box. I'm just not keen on the smell. Everything but one product will be used.

I'll give it a second chance.

nicnicspicnic · 02/05/2026 12:17

My box arrived this morning. I can see that some people will like it. However, it's not for me this time.

Cyclingmummy1 · 02/05/2026 13:25

I like this box. Really pleased with the variety. I'll sell the product that's not for me.

And no incense holder 😆

HaveYouHadYourBreak · 02/05/2026 13:33

I came home to find out I was wrong about the item I didnt think we'd use. I was right about not liking it though.

Trying not to give anything away!

Fedupandstressed · 02/05/2026 23:30

I’ve just cancelled. Really don’t like this box and I now have so much pelegrims stuff that I’m giving it away. I’ve signed up to a chocolate subscription instead 😂

Cactusali · 03/05/2026 11:02

A bit disappointed but this is the first one I’ve not liked. One product I can’t use and will pass to a friend.

HundredMilesAnHour · 03/05/2026 14:26

Oh dear, this isn’t sounding great.

I don’t think my box will arrive until Tuesday (after the bank hol) as Royal Mail randomly fabricate a story that they’re been told not to deliver to my building on Saturdays so they didn’t bother to attempt it yesterday. Of course this is complete bs, they’ve never been told that (I’m the Chair of the Board of Directors for the freehold company and have been for some years) but it is impossible to ever get hold of the fuckers to complain.

My box has arrived. Am I the last??? Or we are still waiting for someone else?

Did you like it?

Cactusali · 05/05/2026 21:28

Can we now discuss it?

Cyclingmummy1 · 05/05/2026 22:11

@BeaLola has yours arrived?

BeaLola · 05/05/2026 23:18

Hello, yes it came today, unpacked earlier.

BeaLola · 05/05/2026 23:19

HaveYouHadYourBreak I’m sorry you didn’t like it 🙁

Let’s go for it. No-one has responded saying that they’re still waiting.

I can understand why some people are a bit meh with the box.

I was actually delighted with the candle. Jerome told me a while ago that the ceramics for the candles are made by the wife of the owner of The Sportsman in Seasalter. I had lunch there recently and my (hot) date is now obsessed with the place lol. When I was there, I actually spoke to another of their lunch clients about Pelegrims (and told her to try the handwash in the Ladies) so I am so happy to get my hands on that candle. It seems like karma.

Bath salts I am a lot less excited about but that’s because I don’t take baths so for me it’s a bit of a dud.

I love the face mask sheet thing and already have a couple in my bathroom stash so happy to get that.

I haven’t tried the perfume yet. Someone once told me that perfume goes off (is that true?) so I’m always wary about testing one if I’m not ready to use it ‘properly’. Does that make sense or have I lost the plot?

Apologies if this post is a bit less coherent than usual. I lost my job recently (redundancy cuts so currently on gardening leave) and I feel very discombobulated. Like a complete space cadet to be frank.

@Cactusalireally sorry to hear about your job and I hope you will find a new one soon. And a better one too. A door closes, another one opens…
I don’t take baths either but I have put the baths salts in a small fabric bag with a drawstring and gang in my closet. I do like the smell but it is quite strong.
I love the look if the candle, beautiful ceramic, and the scent is interesting. It gas a hint of something you smell in church (ambergri or something, no idea what they use and I am not very knowledgeable on oils and resins). It shall remain as a decorative item because I don’t use candles, (apparently they are bad for pets and I don’t like candles enough to try and find out what candles are safe)but I can smell it when I walk past and I don’t mind that.
The perfume is not exactly unique but I haven’t tried it on my skin yet. It smells very strong from the bottle, perhaps a good thing if you like the scent. I will try it later in the year, currently sitting in the dark because, yes, fragrance does go off.
Loving the sheet mask, I used it before and didn’t have any left so a good one for me.
All in all, a nice box even if I won’t use half of it as intended. And I do enjoy opening it and exploring a bit so I am not at all disappointed.
I would say though, this brand is definitely not for those who dislike fragrance because the smell is very powerful. Nice but very strong.

Sorry about your job. It can be a bit of a shock and leave you lost even when you are expecting it.
I hope you find something quickly. I was made redundant almost 10yrs ago. I am now in a job I love earning more than I would have there. It defibately turned out to be a good thing. I hope you find the same.

HaveYouHadYourBreak · 06/05/2026 14:53

I found the smell of it all a bit heavy and like you'd smell in a hippy shop. 🤣

I didnt think we'd use the candle (not candle people) and we dont do nicnaks but my daughter loved the smell and has used it all. The pot is really cool but I dont know what to do with it now! As I say, we dont use candles so cant reuse it as a candle holder.

The mask is a mask is a mask. There was LOADS of liquid left so I've been using it under my nightcream.

I dont use bathsalts but I think they might come in handy when I get a cold. They smelt quite eucalyptus-y to me?

I read the description of the perfume - peaches, cream, water, grass - and it sounded perfect. I dont smell any of that and found it, like I said, quite heavy, earthy and somehow patchouli-eseque. My daughter loves masculine fragrances but she isnt keen on it either. It does linger though so if you like it, you wont need to respray during the day.

Cyclingmummy1 · 06/05/2026 18:31

Sorry to hear your news @HundredMilesAnHour but very intrigued about your hot date... I knew you'd not be keen on the bath salts. I really like them, but I love a bath. And I still have the jar from last time we had them 😆

The candle is lovely, I've started melting all my leftovers and making new candles. I've made 3 since Christmas.

I adore a face mask! There was loads of serum left as @HaveYouHadYourBreak said; enough to cover my whole body 😳

I won't wear the perfume; if anyone wants to swap for the bath salts, let me know.

All in all, not the best one but still good for me.

Cactusali · 07/05/2026 16:25

Passed bath salts on as I’m a shower-only person. Like the candle although I have a stash of many. Perfume is okay, starts out apple-y but then mostly disappears on me. But much better than the original perfume which I actively dislike.

nicnicspicnic · 07/05/2026 19:42

I think the last box was so good that this box was going to be a let down whatever. But this box has got 2 things that I've had before and didn't like the first time. I don't have baths and have lots of bath salts left over from the last lot and I also dislike sheet masks. Perfume is alright but disappears on me within an hour. I'll carry on subscribing for now and see how the next one goes.

@Cyclingmummy1 I’m happy to give you my bath salts if you want to send me a stamped addressed envelope for them? No worries if that’s too much faff though.

Totally non-Pelegrims related essay coming up

The hot date is still hot. 😛Well, actually more of a slow burn as we’ve known each other for many years and first got together when I was 21 and living in Paris as a student. Our timing has always been terrible though as since our student year in France we’ve never lived in the same country at the same time. We’ve met up in various places (from Chicago to Oslo!) and even done the ‘couples weekend visit’ thing when we were both in serious relationships with other people. Maybe it was a warning sign when I came home after that couples weekend and ended things with my boyfriend of 5 years because I realised he didn’t hold a candle to my ex after seeing them together for a weekend. 🙄 I later found out that my ex did exactly the same. But then we lost touch for many years as life and careers took over. We reconnected earlier this year (I messaged him on LinkedIn) and were talking about maybe meeting next year as I have various friends I’m hoping to visit in Switzerland (where he currently also lives). Then out of the blue he tells me that he’ll be in Tilbury (?!) for 12 hours as a stop-off on a cruise and do I want to meet for coffee? So I book us lunch at The Sportsman (very lucky to get a reservation I know!) and the night before he decides he’s leaving the cruise for good in Tilbury and we end up shacked up in a fisherman’s cottage in Whitstable together for the week. And had the best time. 😂We’re both now back in our relative homes but we speak every day and are taking our time to figure out if we finally try to make this long-distance thing work or not. We’re both (much!) older and wiser but still seem to be like catnip to each other. We’ll see. It’s not like there’s any rush after all these years lol.

safely back to Pelegrims/product stuff

Great idea about melting candle leftovers. I love candles. A friend started making her own as an hobby and blending her own scents etc and now it’s taken off into quite a good business. She showed me how to do it one day and I blended my own scent for my candles etc and I had the best time ever. Such a fab experience. If anyone’s in Suffolk, I can recommend Loggique (my friend’s business) or have a look at her website.

I still haven’t tried the perfume….it’s on the list. 😉

I tried the summer fragrance yesterday and I can report it didn’t last all day on me, at most it was around 4 hours I could still smell it. Not all bad as I didn’t actually like it, too sweet for me.
Their other fragrance lasts a very long time on me and has a much more unique scent (like an unrefined, harsher version of Sisley Eau de Campagne).

Branster · 10/05/2026 21:19

@HundredMilesAnHourwhat a lovely relationship! Enjoy your adventures and long may it continue.

Cyclingmummy1 · 11/05/2026 22:36

I'm delighted for you @HundredMilesAnHour Loving that you still find him 'hot'.

I'll send you an envelope (or postage label?) when I get a minute. Thanks 😊
