I go this weekend and want to look stylish - not something I'm good at when travelling! Going from uk at 6am to 30c heat...!
Thank you!

Clothes perfrably!

soupfiend · 01/10/2024 19:34

Contrary to what people say on here most of the time in answer to that question, I never wear loose wide leg trousers because of toilet floors

So I wear my heaviest things, usually jeans, nice and tight and high around the ankle so no wet toilet floor gets on them. I have learned that lesson!

I wear a jacke which I can then easily fold up into the hand or cabin luggage when you get out into the heat

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 01/10/2024 19:35

going to 30c you’ll need comfy clothes. If it was me, I’ve got a jersey maxi sundress, I’d wear it with a cardie and leggings underneath in the uk, take leggings off in plane loos, dump cardie in bag once out of air coned airport.

Parker231 · 01/10/2024 19:36

My standard travel outfit is leggings, trainers and a T-shirt with a fleece in case the plane is cold.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/10/2024 19:37

Loose cotton trousers and a fitted cotton tee. Pumps. Hair scraped back with conditioner. A LOT of moisturiser.

SanMarzano · 01/10/2024 19:38

These (although I have them in navy) and a tshirt or linen blouse. Slip on shoes. Carry a cardigan but rarely need to put it on, I find planes are more likely to be hot than cold these days.

Wide legs to be avoided for that exact reason 🤢 but jeans hmmmm never travelled in them in case of swelling!

Now that's an idea I hadn't thought of thank you!

I'm not a leggings wearer but that sounds so comfy

Don't the trousers dangle on the bike toilet floor...?

3/4 length trousers, T shirt, Birkenstocks or trainers, jumper. I aim for comfort rather than elegance 😄

KarmaKat · 01/10/2024 19:43

How long is the flight?

For long haul, I just go in my usual clothes & have joggers or leggings in my bag to change. I always have a thick jumper because I freeeeeeze on flights!

Goatblu · 01/10/2024 19:50

Usually cotton trousers that have an elasticated cuff at the hem, a loose cotton vest top, soft bra, cardi or hoodie and Birkenstocks.

This doesn't change even when I travel in the colder months as I'd rather have chilly feet for a few minutes walking from the carpark to the airport terminal than take shoes or trainers I won't wear whilst on holiday. I find airports are usually warm anyway so the cardi is just in case I get cold on the flight.

Me too usually but I fancy a change as I'm travelling along and for the first time in my life I also have MATCHING LUGGAGE 🤣

This is my thinking at home. I live and die in trailers, but I really won't wear them.

In the summer I live in flip-flops so that's what I'm gonna take. I think the dress with leggings underneath sounds like the best option but thank you so much!

Straight leg jeans (stretch denim), breton stripe long sleeve tee, socks, birkenstock trainers, packable down bodywarmer. No bare feet on planes, who knows what has gone before.

On short-haul, I tend to avoid the loos on the plane as they are usually grim. I pack a little drawstring bag in my hand luggage with everything I might need during the flight. Keeps everything together, easy to find and nothing falls on the floor.

I always book the closest possible car part to the airport and even if it's raining, my feet are dry by the time I've dropped my case off. Landing back in the UK when it's dark, cold and possibly frosty is a bit rubbish in Birkenstocks but again, it's only for a few minutes until I can get the heating on in the car. Have a lovely holiday Smile.

Snap.

You could wear a nice cotton white blouse with leggings. Fresh and smart.

RaspberryBeretxx · 01/10/2024 20:19

I have a dress similar to this but M&S (think it’s still on there but I couldn’t see it - was less than £20 and looks nice with or without a belt as a really good basic). I’d probably wear that with the comfiest ever leggings under it for the uk and plane. Then a denim jacket or similar over in uk and a comfy jumper or hoody of some sort for the plane. And trainers with flip flops in my bag for the other side.

Newsenmum · 01/10/2024 20:21

One of those comfy lightweight dresses. Much more comfortable than trousers.

MoneyAndPercentages · 01/10/2024 20:24

If you do flip flops/birks make sure to keep a pair of socks easy to grab in your bag in case you need to take shoes off for security - remembered this the hard way over summer🤢

If space is at a premium and I need layers where I'm going I'll look like a snowman ngl 😂 But if not I go for leggings, vest and a unbuttoned, oversized shirt over the top. Loads you can do with that!

catin8oots · 01/10/2024 20:25

My dad always flew in linen. I'm presuming you are neither male or late 70s though 😀

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 01/10/2024 20:27

An aeroplane. Big, pointy metal thing with wings and engines, but that's not important right now...
