I go this weekend and want to look stylish - not something I'm good at when travelling! Going from uk at 6am to 30c heat...!
Thank you!

Leggings are the sweet spot between comfort and not trailing on the toilet floor.

Don't the trousers dangle on the bike toilet floor...?

No. They're loose fitting, not too long. Hemming exists.

Nugg · 01/10/2024 20:32

@Goatblu I have booked meet and greet so you have a great point!!

I have a dress similar to this but M&S (think it’s still on there but I couldn’t see it - was less than £20 and looks nice with or without a belt as a really good basic). I’d probably wear that with the comfiest ever leggings under it for the uk and plane. Then a denim jacket or similar over in uk and a comfy jumper or hoody of some sort for the plane. And trainers with flip flops in my bag for the other side.

For some reason you next link takes me to the app homepage 😫

Where the hell are you all travelling that you encounter grim plane toilets? I've had hundreds of flights over the years, and most of them on budget airlines, and hand on heart I've NEVER had to endure messy floors in the toilets. And no, I don't need glasses either! I think it's a bit of an urban myth started by some neat freak on MN!

So for me it's those loose lightweight jersey trousers with elastane so a lot of "give" in them, slip on shoes and a T shirt/cardigan combo. Works for me, and is very comfortable.

An aeroplane. Big, pointy metal thing with wings and engines, but that's not important right now...

Very good. Hopefully me too 🤣

My dad always flew in linen. I'm presuming you are neither male or late 70s though 😀

Linen is my summer goto. I'm neither of those things you are right and won't be wearing as I'd look like a used tissue 🤣

I only wear them for the gym but I'm veering... those or more fitted joggers

I'm flying BA this time but it's always been budget before and yeah they can be hit and miss tbh!
Have to say BA have been shite but I'm stuck with them 🤣

I travel fairly regularly to Singapore for work. A tee shirt dress works for me.

On short haul l tend to wear what l would in the day.

Meet and greet means even less time to get chilly @Nugg. Good idea.

Top tip for anyone that does like to wear loose trousers to travel but has experienced the puddled toilets (usually on the latter half of flights when the drinks trolley has been around again....) - coiled elastic hair ties. Slip them onto the bottom of your trousers before you take them down. Prevents any dragging on the floor.

Nugg · 01/10/2024 20:51

@RaspberryBeretxx I actually got that in the sale this week in the red 🤣 great idea! I'm sorted!

Go dressed for where you are going plus a cardigan and coat as needed, return dressed for the whether here as a general rule.

If it's really cold and I'm going somewhere warm I put leggings or thick tights on with a summer dress.

soupfiend · 01/10/2024 19:34

Contrary to what people say on here most of the time in answer to that question, I never wear loose wide leg trousers because of toilet floors

So I wear my heaviest things, usually jeans, nice and tight and high around the ankle so no wet toilet floor gets on them. I have learned that lesson!

I wear a jacke which I can then easily fold up into the hand or cabin luggage when you get out into the heat

Me too!
Jeans, vest and shacket type shirt as I'm always cold on the plane
Ditch the jacket and trainers into the bag once landed and waiting for steps etc!
On the way home change back into jeans once done security/duty free/food!!

dudsville · 02/10/2024 09:06

Barrel leg joggers and co-ord jumper, with socks and bostons is my go to. I have a similar journey coming up in winter and I plan to quickly change to a summer dress and arizonas when I land. The notion of layers just doesn't work for these kinds of temp changes!

Hahahaha... I wish it was made up. FYI the liquid on the floor is not water(!)

The worst are on long hauls during the day, but honestly any flight over a few hours gets gross quickly. Especially with the planes that have coffin like toilets that even petite people complain about (I'm looking at you Delta!)

Ah, brilliant! I loved the red but thought the black might be more useful (now tempted to see if the red in the sale is available in my size 😆). It's a really lovely shape.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 02/10/2024 10:17

An airplane usually

I must admit that I have never flown with Delta but it’s also something I haven’t experienced. Long haul or short haul, day or night.

TheChosenTwo · 02/10/2024 15:30

I always go with leggings and a tshirt/vest with a hoody, if going somewhere hot you’ll be in an aircon airport and then heading outside to aircon transport to be delivered to an aircon hotel. There is such minimal time in direct sun (and tbh leggings and tshirt for even 20 minutes in 30 degrees isn’t going to make you collapse with heat stroke!) that it’s just very straightforward.

theemptinessmachine · 02/10/2024 15:44

Now I've ordered two more dresses for my upcoming holiday. Whoever posted that black dress link to Next I blame you. 😂 also ordered this to see what it's like

VenusClapTrap · 02/10/2024 15:50

I was coming on to say a jersey dress, but you’ve already come to that conclusion op! I always get a taxi to and from the airport so there’s barely any opportunity for chilly ankles.

themoreoftheredthelessoftheblack · 02/10/2024 16:17

Leggings, long sleeved shirt, loose sweatshirt, my most comfortable trainers which are a bit loose, so if my feet swell up they don't feel tight.
