Could someone please send me a link to a tried and trusted overseas site so I can buy some online? I bought some recently and it definitely wasn't the real thing.

Also, I'm going to Tenerife next month. Can you buy it over the counter there does anyone know? Thanks!

You have to be careful. I tried one well known one in Europe, entered my card number as requested, then they said I had to pay via transfer. I cancelled my card, I felt uneasy. I know firms like Dermatica, Skin and me work out expensive ,but you do get advice on how to use it properly and have consultations. There are no guarantees of it being genuine from overseas sites.

It's just the cost I guess, I don't want to pay £30 a month subscription for something I know costs way less elsewhere. I've used it before with good results and know how to build up gradually in terms of frequency and start on lowest dose, use sunscreen etc so don't think I need any advice. I get the point about the possibility of dodgy sites and bank details though and it is something I've thought about.

@Illpickthatup have you purchased yours a few times off that site with no problems? I might try there

OP posts:

... I also find subscriptions stressful for some reason - for reasons like you say @TheDeepLemonHelper things getting added on and having to check up on it etc

Yes can buy very easily over the counter in pharmacies in Spain. I had no issues.

PeachyKeane · 22/09/2024 20:58

Going to Spain very soon, what do you ask for in the pharmacy exactly please 🙏

I tried in February and was told it was prescription only.

InTheCornerx · 22/09/2024 21:09

I said Retrides which i think is the Spanish name. I asked for 2 as my mum wanted one too and it was no problem!

Yes I've bought it a few times now with no issues.

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 22/09/2024 21:40

I use the Skin and Me every other day to halve the costs. Still getting great results.

TennisLady · 22/09/2024 21:42

I also go through about a tube every 2 months on skin & me. Never had any issues with products being randomly added to mine and I think it very easy to pause and cancel the plan when needed.

Willowtree6 · 22/09/2024 21:48

Thanks everyone 🙂

Apparently the Spanish authorities are cracking down on this as it's supposed to be prescription only because it's not always that safe as its a derivative of vitamin A.

PeachyKeane · 06/10/2024 08:40

I'm in Spain right now trawling the pharmacies, can't get it for love or money. This is Valencia so a big city.

sunshinechaser · 06/10/2024 09:18

You need a prescription now to buy tretinoin in Spain so I think you'll struggle to get it. I do get that subscription services like Dermatica are more expensive than buying the generic version of tretinoin online but I think it's worth it. With Dermatica have access to dermatologists who can recommend other products to compound with your tret-mine currently has hydroquinone mixed with it to help my pigmentation. Plus a tube lasts me 2 months and I apply every night so only costs around £10/month.
Also tretinoin is the best and only evidence based anti ageing product so I'm happy to spend a bit more on it and cut back on other skincare products with no evidence behind them.

iseetoday · 06/10/2024 09:22

I just looked at skin and me.

Used blue light discount code and Gota Regime for 5 quid.

Powderblue1 · 06/10/2024 09:39

I buy from alldaychemist. They always have good expiry dates so o do a bulk order to last me about 18 months and order enough for my mum too. You have to bank transfer payment. Had two orders from them so far. I think it's about £6 a tube

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 06/10/2024 09:48

I still buy my Retirides from Farmacia Tristaina, which is based in Andorra. I can't buy from Dermatica or Skin & Me as I'm not in the UK, so had to look elsewhere.

You have to email them to ask for the order, as they are not allowed to advertise certain medications on their website anymore (and at the time I freaked out thinking they weren't selling it anymore), but I got some recently with no problems. I have been buying from them for about 5 years now.

Willowtree6 · 06/10/2024 11:43

Great thank you everyone,

Why can’t you pay by card? The bank transfer arrangement puts me off.

UmberMoose · 06/10/2024 15:11

I have been using tret for years and buy with paypal or card. Here is my routine that I follow:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Summerhillsquare · 06/10/2024 16:23

Just buy the Boots 1%retinol, brilliant stuff and there's always offers on. A tube lasts me a year.

It's not the same thing. OP is looking for tretinoin.

Summerhillsquare · 06/10/2024 16:55

the Skin and Me stuff did nothing for my skin, but the Boots retinol is brilliant, much stronger.

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 06/10/2024 17:44

How long did you go with Skin + Me @Summerhillsquare It took 6 mo for me to see results with rosacea and was definitely on the point of giving up several times. It’s still slow progress but I believe it’s getting me there.
