My goodness. Not even my dear George has ever seen me in my support garments.

” garter”. 😱

I am aflush and in much need of smelling salts.
It is Sunday. Contain your baser instincts, MaryofTeck.

I am suitably chastened.

(ooh, chastened ….. )

@MaryofTeck Thank you- you really are a kindred spirit. My music often reduces people to bouts of weeping, and wailing, and in fact, shrieking and sometimes shouting at me to "stop"- the beauty of it is just too much for them. My Uncle Chester once gave me a schilling to stop playing the harpsichord, he said the "he couldnt bear the angelic beauty a moment longer".

Could you crochet me a mini courgette?- I do love them so.

@PeggyMitchellsCameo I have heard the rumours of Madam Butcher, there is something of the night about her. Her earrings are a sight to behold though and such a thing of exquisite beauty. They must have cost an absolute fortune.

ToffeeSquirrels · 22/09/2024 12:09

I'd say you look not a day over 157

You remind me of one of our dear Battenberg cousins, he was one for the sauce and always grinned throughout the Garter Ceremony. I was quite put off his cake because of this behaviour, which is such a shame because I do like marzipan.

For those of us who have a gift, @velvetcoat , it can be exquisite torment, bathing others in it's eternal beauty. Some of us do inspire strong emotion, and screams are not unheard of here at Balmoral, particularly at the Ghillies Ball.
A crocheted mini courgette is being dispatched, this moment, by my Second Footman. I will also include an asparagus.

You are too kind! Feel free to borrow a brooch. What's your favourite gem?

Such wonderful wisdom on this thread. So many thoughtful tips and kind responses.
Anyone's thoughts on kitten heels? Are they back in? I do hope so. I had a few lovely pairs of kitten heeled boots about the time of my first engagement.

Seems like the 1890’s is back in fashion, so I guess they are acceptable. Not for me though..been there, done that - ugh!

MaryofTeck · 22/09/2024 13:43

Ah, the cycle of fashion. It never stops! Fortunately, some of us are always in style.
We also wear hats to breakfast in hotels.

Blacmange hits the spot for me. One of Cook’s specialities. Satisfyingly pink and mobile, seemingly with a mind of its own.

MaryofTeck · 22/09/2024 15:44

Sounds like you have a wonderful cook, @MrsSkylerWhite ! Keep her at all costs.

That is indeed our intention, MaryofTeck. She is ensconced below stairs but permitted an half day each month to sniff the great outdoors through the railinged window. We are progressive employers.
It would be heartbreak to lose her. Her stiff peaks are a wonder to behold and we would be lost without her soused pig’s face.

MaryofTeck · 22/09/2024 16:20

What a treasure. You are progressive employers! We always allow ours to have Christmas lunchtime off.

Those really are pearls of wisdom Mary.

So kind of you to add an asparagus. My ardent hope is that by evensong I'll have a full vegetable patch to display on our grand mantelpiece.

Our neighbours, the Vanderbilt Ashkettle Throgmorton Bedgoods will be green with envy!

We are most certainly not, velvetcoat! We possess a pineapple.
Envy is such a trade preoccupation.

Would the hairstyle shape hold a tiara with a quantity of precious gems and gold? (Can be heavy!)

OP posts:
westatlanticocean · 22/09/2024 18:08

What cream do you use for your neck, with all those heavy necklaces?

Since they made Nivea Soft vegan and useless, I am looking for a new one.

Stopbeingawalkoverandwalk · 22/09/2024 18:10

Probably not, but you will probably get less frown and stress lines from your head and neck buckling under the weight of large hunks of metal and stone. It's a bit like the arse/face dichotomy, but for the aristocracy.
