Taking off heels due to floor damage

Would you take off your heels at someone's house or other location if your worn down heels were damaging the wooden floor? Say it is a shoes- on event where you will be the only one without shoes on, but your stilettos are worn down to the metal nail. I love wearing my heeled boots everywhere and often do not have time to fix the heel tips.

Of course! Why wouldn’t you? Have you checked the price of flooring laterly? I’m sure your hosts don’t want a forever reminder that you
were there in your favourite boots 🙄

TinyYellow · 13/07/2024 07:12

Of course I’d remove my shoes if they were damaging someone’s floor. Why wouldn’t you?

BananaLambo · 13/07/2024 07:13

Of course. It would be incredibly bad manners to wear shoes that would damage someone else’s floor.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 13/07/2024 07:13

No, I’d leave them on to cause maximum damage.

Then I’d shit on their favourite rug.

Dallasdays · 13/07/2024 07:14

A reverse by any chance...?

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 13/07/2024 07:15

You can't wear shoes that damage floors!

That's like damaging people's sofa or car paint.

I was at my friend's brother's house and was wearing my favorite heeled boots, and did not want to be the only one looking silly barefoot.

So you knowingly caused damages to their floor instead?

So you caused hundreds of pounds of damage instead?

Oh well that’s ok then. You must be happy to pay the floor repair bill.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 13/07/2024 07:47

Are you terribly young? Have you never been responsible for maintaining anything?

It's going to cost an awful lot to repair. I'm afraid they'll look at their floor and rage about you for years to come.

K0OLA1D · 13/07/2024 07:53

Surely no-one is quite this thick?

ihaventfedthecat · 13/07/2024 07:59

Wow. I'd be so pissed if you did that at my house - knowingly - because you couldn't be arsed to get them heeled and maintain them

DancingNotDrowning · 13/07/2024 08:07

Someone wore worn down stilettos on my newly laid solid wood parquet. The damage was horrific and cost thousands to fix.

unforgivable

Exactly, op is saying they didn't want to pay £5 to fix their shoes but happy to let someone else pay hundreds to fix their floor?

Also, it's incredibly embarrassing to be wearing shoes that worn down. Everyone can tell from the noise and they look awful. Throw the boots and maintain them better in future if you love them so much.

sonjadog · 13/07/2024 08:22

This can't be real, surely? No-one would ruin someone's floor just so they don't feel "silly".

EasterlyDirections · 13/07/2024 08:26

This must be a joke. Or a reverse. Complete no brainer, you don't wear the shoes.

Mairzydotes · 13/07/2024 09:48

I remember in the 80s, certain premises like stately homes and castles had signs forbidding people from wearing stilletoes in them due to the damage they could cause.

Surely, if someone's heels are worn down they look unkempt. Even if people aren't looking at other people's feet , they can tell by the noise.

MrsPerfect12 · 13/07/2024 09:51

only a twat would do that.

TEDPIEridiculousness2024 · 13/07/2024 09:58

The noise of worn down heels is awful.

Just take them to the cobblers

thebluebeyond · 13/07/2024 10:02

K0OLA1D · 13/07/2024 07:53

this. This has to be a reverse? but even then it is unreasonable - you don't allow someone in damaging shoes into your home, just refuse them entry if they don't take their shoes off

Shybutrude · 14/07/2024 00:54

@aieilcln How entitled of you! You are happy to spoil someone's flooring which will cost a lot more than your (already damaged) shoes/boots
You would not be invited back if it was my home and I'd be distancing myself from you.
If that's how you treat your friends , hod do you treat people you don't like?

Maddy70 · 14/07/2024 00:58

Why would anyone willingly cause damage to someones home? Of course. You take them off in fact why wear them at all untul they're repaired?
