Cycle shorts under dresses

Hello there. Please can you recommend some good cycle shorts to wear under dresses? I would like them to smooth me out a bit but I don’t want anything too restrictive as will be wearing them in Egypt in August and will be hot. Thank you

Are you wanting to wear them to cover up a bit more or anti chaffe?

Peonies12 · 10/07/2024 17:01

Snag Tights ones are good for anti chafing, I'm not sure about smoothing though. they do 'cooling' ones.

longdistanceclaraclara · 10/07/2024 17:01

Do you mean anti chafe? Primark are great and good value. M&S are cotton rather than Lycra.

mitogoshi · 10/07/2024 17:17

My favourite ones are Sainsburys sports ones, wicking, hold in my belly

Rina66 · 10/07/2024 17:26

I like the M & S ones, I bought them in black, white and nude last year. I can't find them online now though?

RuthW · 10/07/2024 17:33

Popsy are the best ones

Sorry not anti chafe. More just a bit of cover up and some shaping

The Snag cooling ones are great

I've just bought some lace M&S ones from their new range and very pleased with them.

Oldraver · 10/07/2024 21:19

Step One (yes originally mens but they do ladies as well

You can also get culotte slips in M&S. They might be cooler than tight shorts and are anti static so good for shape.

These are fab. I made it my mission last year to trial all the under-dress shorts (although I wasn’t interested in shapewear, which these definitely are not) and these were the winners by a country mile. I found the tights material type ones horrible on hot days personally, but also rated the Amazon ones which are more like long men’s “trunk” type pants in a kind of cotton jersey.

This year it has been too cold for dresses so they’re all waiting patiently 😂

Big Bloomer company are my favourites!

The idea of adding extra layers in hot egypt seems slighty ridiculous actually, no offence.

FriedaMer · 11/07/2024 04:08

OP I wore these under dresses in a very hot Jordan last month and they were sooooo cool and comfortable.

I agree. OP you are going to melt! Temperatures can hit the 40s.

Silviasilvertoes · 11/07/2024 08:16

I’ve been looking for some of these for ages, thanks OP and PPs!

Thank you. Some of the reviews say they roll up. Did you have this problem?

I found these rolled around and didn’t like them at all. I’m a 10/12 with a big arse and thighs. I think the website said they were - from memory - something like one size, fits up to an 18, so maybe they would be better on someone larger. They also came up super-high on me, I could have tucked them into my bra! (That wasn’t my vibe but might be what others are after of course.)

The M&S ones are rubbish! Given they're slightly too short in the leg, they ride up your thighs. I'm 5'8" and 10-12 and am constantly pulling the legs down.
Gave up on knickers years ago as I don't like the camel toe feeling or VPL. Thongs are my idea of hell!
Uniqlo cycle shorts are my go to, 27%elastane, slightly longer inside leg length that stays in place.
And they are thick enough to be worn with just a T-shirt or used as bottoms for swimming. And they don't sit in your crotch!
