Politics aside, but is this hideous and not best for her frame, or is it me?^^

I like it. I’m sure she chose it because she likes it and felt comfortable in it. That’s enough for me.

JurassicClark · 07/07/2024 11:51

I thought it was bloody awful - part circus tent, part Surrendered Wife.

Great that she supported an independent clothes company, but definitely not to my taste.

What’s all the nonsense about it being a vulnerable time? Her husband called an unexpected and doomed election and the totally predictable outcome occurred. She wasn’t ill or anything.

Peoneve · 07/07/2024 09:58

I thought that she looked lovely as usual

lets see a picture of what you are wearing today?

Well said- some people find anything to moan about. I am definitely not a conservative voter but seriously woman need to stop attacking woman

TwixOwl · 07/07/2024 11:53

I thought she looked really lovely in that outfit. She's kept in the background and appears very supportive and respectful.

Out of interest how much was it???

TheFallenMadonna · 07/07/2024 11:55

I like it a lot. I love bold prints.

GentlemanJay · 07/07/2024 11:56

I like it. Classy.

Agree and the press used her as a line of attack earlier which was a shame

GloriaSmornin · 07/07/2024 11:58

Because she likes it.
Because she feels comfortable in it.

What a strange question!

Attictroll · 07/07/2024 11:58

I liked it bar the high neck -colours were appropriate and it is probably a hard occasion to dress for 😂
I liked it was from an Indian designer as well.

The umbrella made me laugh as there were lots of online discussions about team letting him down by not providing one for election announcement and other occasions where he got soaked.

I imagined in my head her saying "I am not letting him look like a soaked idiot again" and ready at any moment to step forward and shield her husband from the rain!

I'm loving the ladies of the new labour governments colours and style.

Notquitethere60 · 07/07/2024 12:00

How many people had a moan about Denis Thatchers suit or Liz Truss’s? I’m fed up of women attacking other women over their appearance. I think it was fine as a dress but you’re missing the point by criticising her choice of dress.

Sendhelp101 · 07/07/2024 12:00

I feel like I'm the only one who was thinking she looked really nice! I don't think the neckline is the most flattering but the rest is lovely and it suits her

EatTheGnome · 07/07/2024 12:00

Because she likes it and women don't have to wear something that "looks nice", "flatters them" or "suits their figure".

HMTheQueenMuffin · 07/07/2024 12:01

I really like it. If I were petite I would experiment like that as well. I also loved Carrie Johnson's boho outfits. And adored how SamCam dressed.

Sadly though I am 5 ft 2 and top heavy with thin legs and a big stomach so my preferred dressing style just makes me look like a fatter version of Demis Roussos, or if I wear taupe, a mushroom.

I thought it was a fabulous dress, and cost very little more than Mrs Starmer's which looked like an outfit for the PTA dinner dance. Oh the irony of the woman whose husband intends to lecture us all about the evils of the petrochemical industries wearing a polyester dress!

😂yes, I liked Sam Cam's style.

Obeseandashamed · 07/07/2024 12:10

I wasn't keen on the outfit but I suspect it was done to stay patriotic whilst not copying Kate's typical navy and white style or anything Carrie wore. Not the best choice but it wasn't the worst either!

BESTAUNTB · 07/07/2024 12:12

I liked it. I thought she looked very good as she always does. It would’ve been even better if she were 5’7”+ but that’s the case for a lot of outfits. Models are built like they are for a reason.

Not sure why the OP is being attacked for discussing a dress on the S+B board. Maybe the thread is in trending and posters thought it was on the Politics or GE 2024 board or something 🤷‍♂️

Blackthorne · 07/07/2024 12:12

I thought it was a bit OTT but don’t forget she had Carrie as a front runner… 🙈

She was always a big fan of gregarious dresses.

In the end though the more I’ve looked at it the more I like it.

I’ve looked up the designer since and it’s a very unique style.

Fair play to her for supporting an up and coming Indian designer too.

The designs are actually quite fun and I enjoyed looking at them! They are like mini works of art.

boozeclues · 07/07/2024 12:12

I like it, seems to give a nod to south Asian traditional dress with a british twist. I don’t mind the bold pattern, its obviously cultural.

What would have been acceptable? A wide leg pantsuit in a garish colour?

spanieleyes22 · 07/07/2024 12:13

WhereDoWeGoFromHereHmmm · 07/07/2024 10:25

I love it! She looks fantastic.

Also they are mega rich but she's quite a long way off being the richest person in the world.

Richer than the king though!

AIstolemylunch · 07/07/2024 12:13

I really like that dress and think it suits her.

I didnt like Angela Rayners weird green suit.

People have diffeeent tastes <shrug>

Marvelo · 07/07/2024 12:17

I think she generally avoided very high end stuff for fear of headlines.

It’s a nice dress, quite fashion (in the sense that it makes a statement and that statement isn’t “I want you to want to go to bed with me”). Not really sure what look would be better for “standing supportively behind my loser husband for the world’s media”- it’s not exactly a filter category on ASOS.

RubyGemStone · 07/07/2024 12:17

I usually think she dresses well but this was a definite miss. Really hideous and frumpy.

Also having sparked much more commentary than all her other outfits, I'd say not a success. We all have off days though and in context, this is probably the most minor decision in her day.
