Choosing a wedding dress a little help please

Hello everyone,
Just a little context. I'm about to get married. Me and my parter are together for 9y and have a toddler and a baby. We are getting a church wedding together with the christening of our kids. Our aim is simplicity and we are doing just for close friends and family, 50 invites in total. We will host a lunch post cerimony in a villa with no traditional wedding stuff like first dances etc. We see it more as a family celebration. The main point is, nobody knows that we are getting married. Our invites been asked to come to the christening only. Now, when it comes to my dress I couldn't ask anyone for opinions and sadly I can't use my dream dress due to body change after pregancy. So got stuck with two options. I like both in a way but beeing so different I have no idea what to choose. The lenght on the first to be adjusted and I thought a stone belt on the second.
So, looking for your opinion in which one fits better and which would you choose.
Thank you

Of those 2, I prefer the second one with both shoulder out. But I don't think they're all that flattering and you have a great figure.

Would something like this work for you? A little bit of interest at the top, loose silhouette and not strapless/arms and armpits hidden?

OP
did Hannah Waddingham just wear your dress to sing God Save the King at the Grand Prix today?

HowDidJudithSurvive · 07/07/2024 18:01

I like dress one but with better underwear that won’t show through, seamless or whatever.

RachelGreensHair · 07/07/2024 18:25

OP they're both gorgeous, with a steam they'll look even better, nice shoes, hair and show stopping bouquet.

RachelGreensHair · 07/07/2024 18:28

What Hannah wore today...

I really like the one shoulder one. It's more sophisticated than the other one and can definitely be glammed up with accessories.

Hello - congratulations to you. Dresses: they both look really good and you have a great figure. I prefer the first one but tbh both are lovely - good choice. Get some really good hair and make up done, and a fab pair of gold or silver shoes and a fab bouquet and all the luck to you.

The dresses are simple and beautiful. Myslelf: i'm over 50 and I am going to marry in a £28 lace jumpsuit from Next at vinted! (money to be spent on nice rings and a slap up buffet for the small guest list).

CinnamonJellyBeans · 07/07/2024 18:51

Number two is lovely. Very classic and as PP have said, will never look dated in photos. Would look great with or without a belt.

xyz111 · 07/07/2024 19:19

I prefer the second one. If you don't love them, maybe go to a wedding dress shop and see what they have off the rack that would be suitable?

boydoggies · 07/07/2024 21:56

Left one is my favourite. Just get the right underwear and accessories and you'll be grand!
You'll feel settled for your post ceremony too, as you'll feel like you haven't gone OTT.
Enjoy your day

Cherrysoup · 07/07/2024 22:37

My gran had a similar toilet roll cover! 😀

Having been at prom for Year 11 this weekend, satin is very in, so either of the original two would be fine and you look fabulous in both!

Fingerscrossedfor2021HK · 08/07/2024 04:28

Can you stretch your budget? You have a lovely figure and this would look so good on you!

RichPetunia · 08/07/2024 05:06

Congratulations!
My favourite for you is the first one, with one shoulder.

urbanbuddha · 08/07/2024 05:19

I prefer the first one.

On the other thread I liked this one but perhaps not the shape you are going for?

BettyBardMacDonald · 08/07/2024 06:08

The one-shoulder dress is elegant. The other a bit girlish.

Sosleepyy · 08/07/2024 08:33

I really don’t like the first one! The one shoulder is a bit too high and the dress doesn’t look expensive.

The second one is much nice silhouette, is more flattering, and that’s the one I’d choose if it had to be between the two.

Agree that you have a lovely figure and could find something nicer for your money!

Tinysoxxx · 08/07/2024 09:42

There are 2 reiss ones. I am not sure which one is your dress but I like the one Hannah wore (unfortunately the more expensive one). If the first one is the less expensive reiss one, I prefer your second off the shoulder dress - the back is more gorgeous than both the Reiss ones. The less expensive reiss one looks like it may be difficult to fold the neckline right from the reiss website pictures, although you may be able to work it to ensure it’s ok. You look good in both of them - it’s all relative.
These are the two reiss ones side by side.

Of the two I prefer the first one.

Ilikeadrink14 · 08/07/2024 10:50

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/07/2024 18:59

I'm going against the grain. I don't like either of them, but then I'm not a fan of droopy sleeves or necklines.

This poster has asked for our opinion on two dresses. She has made it clear she has to have one or the other.
You come along and say you don’t like either of them! That was mean and very unhelpful!

Fairnair · 08/07/2024 13:51

I do like both, & love the back of the 2nd one. However, the first dress is probably more church appropriate as it a little more covered up. It does depend on the church some vicars/priests are more conservative than others.

chipsewfast · 08/07/2024 13:57

The first one is really elegant. You look great in both though

Gonetoofarthistime · 08/07/2024 22:28

Bignanna · 06/07/2024 12:57

This dress was chosen by another poster. It’s beautiful.
OP- neither of the dresses in the photos do anything for you. They are not special enough, too plain. There are so many much nicer ones. Have you looked at Monsoon or Debenhams wedding dresses?

@Bignanna The dress you have suggested for OP looks like a frumpy doily dress...OP's second dress suggestion is classy and simple.

2021x · 08/07/2024 23:35

Love the first one.

Congratulations 🥳

Cliedi · 09/07/2024 09:46

I think the first one is absolutely stunning, especially if you sort your underwear out and adjust the length. You have a gorgeous figure.
