Choosing a wedding dress a little help please

Hello everyone,
Just a little context. I'm about to get married. Me and my parter are together for 9y and have a toddler and a baby. We are getting a church wedding together with the christening of our kids. Our aim is simplicity and we are doing just for close friends and family, 50 invites in total. We will host a lunch post cerimony in a villa with no traditional wedding stuff like first dances etc. We see it more as a family celebration. The main point is, nobody knows that we are getting married. Our invites been asked to come to the christening only. Now, when it comes to my dress I couldn't ask anyone for opinions and sadly I can't use my dream dress due to body change after pregancy. So got stuck with two options. I like both in a way but beeing so different I have no idea what to choose. The lenght on the first to be adjusted and I thought a stone belt on the second.
So, looking for your opinion in which one fits better and which would you choose.
Thank you

Your figure is fab and you look amazing in both IMO.
My preference is the one with no shoulders but you will look gorgeous in either.

flipflopsandsun · 06/07/2024 19:20

Dress two is lovely.

Might be worth a uick browse of the outnet and my theresa as there are some good options on there that are probably in the same price bracket as the Reiss dress. THere's this which has a little bit more structure and so should fit better https://www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/product/badgley-mischka/dresses/gowns/one-shoulder-draped-sequined-tulle-gown/1647597308303024?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GOO%3ATON%3AEU%3AGB%3AOO%3AENG%3ASEAU%3APLA%3ASLR%3AMXO%3ANEW%3AWN%3ABADGLEY-MISCHKA%3ALV0%3ALV1%3ALV2%3AXXX%3A143%3AEMPTY%3A&utm_id=20666518299&utm_term=3074457345635602632&vtp00=GOOGLE&vtp01=SEAU&vtp02=158400000647&vtp03=pla-1335856687369&vtp04=g&vtp05=c&vtp06=677412632787&vtp07=pla&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2YCvn9aShwMVH5pQBh1aKgYUEAQYCiABEgJaTPD_BwE

A stretch fabric again should help with the fit https://www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/product/rachel-gilbert/dresses/gowns/silica-crystal-embellished-stretch-knit-gown/1647597342095318

I like this - simple but a nice fabric https://www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/product/maria-lucia-hohan/dresses/gowns/one-shoulder-silk-crepe-gown/1647597321854331

All these dresses would look lovely and you have the figure to carry them all off, though the first one is especially gorgeous, elegant, special.

sonjadog · 06/07/2024 19:29

If it has to be one of these two, then I think one is most special, and looks good on you. I think number two is nice enough, but very run of the mill.

GreyDuck · 06/07/2024 19:30

Congratulations!

I like both, and you have a great figure. I think they are hitting the simple and elegant vibes really well.

I prefer the first, because it's more unusual, but I don't think it fits you perfectly.
It's much looser under the bust than anywhere else, and the off-the-shoulder side looks a bit low, which is causing a crease.

I echo other posters though -I'd like to see your dream dress. It sounds like you might be missing out due to lack of confidence, and you'd probably look fantastic in it!

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 06/07/2024 19:30

I prefer the second as I like symmetry. Have a wonderful day whatever you choose.

millymae · 06/07/2024 20:06

My favourite is the first one. I think it looks lovely on you.
That said, the back of the off shoulder one is gorgeous and the dress definitely looks a little more weddingy with its small train but as your 2 little ones are being christened at the same time and you are likely to spend a lot of time holding one or both of them after the wedding ceremony I think the one shouldered one will be easier to wear.
Whichever dress you choose I hope you have a fantastic day.

orchardgirl4 · 06/07/2024 20:24

The second dress is the prettiest and looks the best on you. When your guests see you, if you're wearing the first dress then it's a christening celebration, if you're wearing the second dress, there's no question, you're also getting married. it's a beautiful, elegant, simple wedding gown, combining wedding with christening. Congratulations, and enjoy your extra special day!

DailyEnergyCrisis · 06/07/2024 20:32

I’m not sure the colour is quite right. Or the skirt shape on either dress.
I’d go for a subtle gold and something with slightly more structure.

KarmaKat · 06/07/2024 20:40

You look beautiful! I much prefer the second, off the shoulder dress. Looks better quality.

If you’re looking for other options, Whistles has a great range & regularly appear on Vinted x

GinForBreakfast · 06/07/2024 20:49

The second is better but even though you have a great figure a plain white dress is pretty unforgiving. Bring it with you to a good lingerie shop/dept and get great shapewear under it.

Congratulations and have a really lovely day.

DefyingGravitas · 06/07/2024 21:43

I love the first one, it’s really elegant on you and the drop shoulder is beautiful. Could you afford to take it to a tailor to have it tweaked, perhaps just tightened and lifted around the waist a little bit, because it looks like you do have an amazing waistline. I genuinely think it looks gorgeous on you.

Comedycook · 06/07/2024 21:50

Definitely dress number two. First one is too short and not as flattering.

Tinysoxxx · 06/07/2024 21:50

1

Sidebeforeself · 06/07/2024 21:52

The first one. I am not keen on that “slipping bra strap” look on wedding dresses that is so popular at the moment. it just looks as though you need to give the dress a good hoik!

Garlickest · 06/07/2024 21:55

Another vote for #2. I don't think either is "too plain", they're both elegant. You'll be all trammelled with flowers and some kind of headdress anyway, so the sleek sophistication will work perfectly.

Have a lovely day!

ChopSue · 06/07/2024 22:02

The second one is beautiful. It looks so elegant with your lovely shoulders too.

The first one seems to have too much material up top somehow. I know it’s an unusual style but it looks sort of plain to me.

Onthemaintrunkline · 07/07/2024 03:13

Most definitely number 2. With hair, shoes and make-up its simplicity will be stunning. Will you carry a bouquet? I hope you have a wonderfully happy day to remember.

PaminaMozart · 07/07/2024 03:20

Both will look absolutely lovely once you add heels, a bridal bouquet and a nice hairdo. Personally I'd go for #2.

Bobbie12345 · 07/07/2024 08:42

I love the first one. The shape is great. With your hair done/ earrings etc you will look smashing.
The second one is very pretty too, lovely back. Congratulations.

Frumpypigskin · 07/07/2024 09:33

They're both lovely, and both look great on you. I would choose the first one - the one shoulder one - I think it looks very elegant and classic.

Dinosweetpea · 07/07/2024 10:29

2nd one is beautiful on you.

Pfpppl · 07/07/2024 12:21

I prefer the 2nd one. What about a diamante brooch type thing instead of a belt? Wouldn't affect the back of the dress then.

Skybluepinky · 07/07/2024 12:35

Neither are flattering to yr body shape the flop top part is def to be avoided.
