Choosing a wedding dress a little help please

Hello everyone,
Just a little context. I'm about to get married. Me and my parter are together for 9y and have a toddler and a baby. We are getting a church wedding together with the christening of our kids. Our aim is simplicity and we are doing just for close friends and family, 50 invites in total. We will host a lunch post cerimony in a villa with no traditional wedding stuff like first dances etc. We see it more as a family celebration. The main point is, nobody knows that we are getting married. Our invites been asked to come to the christening only. Now, when it comes to my dress I couldn't ask anyone for opinions and sadly I can't use my dream dress due to body change after pregancy. So got stuck with two options. I like both in a way but beeing so different I have no idea what to choose. The lenght on the first to be adjusted and I thought a stone belt on the second.
So, looking for your opinion in which one fits better and which would you choose.
Thank you

They are both pretty.
I like the one shoulder look. But the second one looks better quality. It’s a bit long - are you wearing heels? I think the second one is better for a wedding over all and more flattering to your figure.

naichick · 06/07/2024 14:58

I love the second one! Very simple and really suits you!

MissSookieStackhouse · 06/07/2024 15:47

The back of the strapless dress is absolutely lovely!

MoveMoveMove · 06/07/2024 15:55

The second one looks more bridal, will you have time to take it to a tailor, a few tweeks to make it fit you perfectly will make a huge difference.

ginasevern · 06/07/2024 15:58

That is one of the loveliest wedding dresses I've ever seen. If I wasn't 67, widowed and never wanting to tie the knot again in this life (a lot of variables there!) I would definitely choose that.

Might be worth a uick browse of the outnet and my theresa as there are some good options on there that are probably in the same price bracket as the Reiss dress. THere's this which has a little bit more structure and so should fit better https://www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/product/badgley-mischka/dresses/gowns/one-shoulder-draped-sequined-tulle-gown/1647597308303024?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GOO%3ATON%3AEU%3AGB%3AOO%3AENG%3ASEAU%3APLA%3ASLR%3AMXO%3ANEW%3AWN%3ABADGLEY-MISCHKA%3ALV0%3ALV1%3ALV2%3AXXX%3A143%3AEMPTY%3A&utm_id=20666518299&utm_term=3074457345635602632&vtp00=GOOGLE&vtp01=SEAU&vtp02=158400000647&vtp03=pla-1335856687369&vtp04=g&vtp05=c&vtp06=677412632787&vtp07=pla&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2YCvn9aShwMVH5pQBh1aKgYUEAQYCiABEgJaTPD_BwE

A stretch fabric again should help with the fit https://www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/product/rachel-gilbert/dresses/gowns/silica-crystal-embellished-stretch-knit-gown/1647597342095318

I like this - simple but a nice fabric https://www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/product/maria-lucia-hohan/dresses/gowns/one-shoulder-silk-crepe-gown/1647597321854331

Really like the first one of @londonmummy1966 suggestions

Manica · 06/07/2024 14:23

i think this goes along with my thought, im not used to have my shoulders exposed, and i like the twist on the first one, but from the back def the second.

I like the first one better, I think it's simpler and more elegant.

I'd never heard of The Outnet but there are some stunning dresses on their website. Absolutely love the first dress londonmummy1966 has suggested. It looks elegant, but not fussy and @Manica certainly has the figure to look fantastic in it, or in one of the others dresses tagged in this post.

CalamityClam · 06/07/2024 16:36

2nd one looks fab and the back is gorgeous!

Coconutter24 · 06/07/2024 16:48

I would say the 2nd dress with some alterations. What is your dream dress?

Myblindsaredown · 06/07/2024 16:54

Looking again though I think the first is a little edgier, the second a little more pedestrian.

Seaoftroubles · 06/07/2024 17:15

I like the second one, its simple and elegant. The back is lovely too and l'm sure you will look gorgeous.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 06/07/2024 17:18

Same here. The one from the other thread is very fussy.

Sorry meant to quote another poster who commented about the dress from the other thread.

AgapanthusWealthy · 06/07/2024 17:25

I love the first one.
It's understated and chic but still special and dressy enough.
The second one is more weddingy but might feel out of place at a christening.

The lacey one linked from another thread is ok but could easily look too fussy and matronly on some figures (like mine)

SparrowFeet · 06/07/2024 17:29

I like the second one as the structure suits you. The first one is a bit too floppy in some places and not in others.
Congratulations on the wedding x

Second this. That Badgely Mishka dress is perfection..

Miffylou · 06/07/2024 17:40

The "off one shoulder" one looks much classier in my opinion.

permanently · 06/07/2024 18:53

The second dress will be a show stopper with your bouquet. You will look stunning 🤩 congratulations! X

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/07/2024 18:59

I'm going against the grain. I don't like either of them, but then I'm not a fan of droopy sleeves or necklines.

jellybe · 06/07/2024 19:07

I like the first one. More interesting in my opinion less traditional. I think a belt on that one and jewellery nice heels etc. it will look stunning 😍

Unfairtravel · 06/07/2024 19:09

Firstly, great body (feel creepy saying that to internet stranger but it's true). Secondly, I love the surprise wedding, whole family situation. I would love to be invited to that so, so, so joyful.

I disagree with others and think both dresses are lovely and very classic, you won't regret them in years to come. When youve got hair and done your make up and are surrounded by your family in their finery it will be lovely.

For me it depends how you want to feel. The second I love and it's more traditionally bridal. I do have a soft spot for the first one especially in the context of your day. Relaxed, modern, put some fresh flowers in your hair... Ooh can I come?

I would say invest in really, really good underwear. It turns everything up a notch. Not sexy but a godsend. I still use mine to this day.

ScrollingLeaves · 06/07/2024 19:13

@Manica

I definitely like the first dress (with one shoulder). The cut is lovely and simple, it is a perfect fit on your beautiful figure, and you look like a goddess in it.

All best wishes for your wedding.💐💕🎊 and your children’s’ Christening.

Summerinspringtime · 06/07/2024 19:14

I like the first one.
