Converse trainers - uncomfortable

How does anyone wear the bloody things? There's no cushioning in the soles whatsoever.
My husband bought me a pair in a sale...I wore them yesterday for a day out and was limping by the time we got home.
I'm going back to my Fitflops.

They take bloody ages to wear in. I had blisters after 1500 steps in a new pair.

catin8oots · 01/07/2024 08:21

Too narrow and flat for me.

moggerhanger · 01/07/2024 08:24

Ethletic are much more comfortable (and ethical).

whatamess100 · 01/07/2024 08:25

So uncomfy

Kitkat1523 · 01/07/2024 08:30

I always have at least 2 pairs of converse on the go…I find them so comfortable….don’t even feel them on my feet….my DD in the other hand blisters up just looking at them

Churchview · 01/07/2024 08:41

I can't wear them they are so thin soled, narrow and uncomfortable.
Love the style though and think that if Converse did a comfy version with the Cons look they would be hugely popular.

As an aside, Sainsbury's do a close copy of them for about a tenner. Much more comfortable.

henlake7 · 01/07/2024 08:42

Love them, but def go for the wide fit ones.
TBH though I have a weird gait meaning that cushioned soles make my hip hurt coz Im off kilter somehow!
I always wear very flat or barefoot shoes now.

motherboredd · 01/07/2024 08:43

I love them! V comfortable on my ugly feet

Ginsmything · 01/07/2024 08:43

Try putting fleece insoles in. I find that makes them much more comfortable.

darksigns · 01/07/2024 08:44

I second the Sainsbury’s ones. Wider and comfier. My Converse were worn only a couple of times.

nudesinbio · 01/07/2024 08:52

But onverse do lots of different styles of trainer.... My convrerse move are the comfiest trainers I own.

Weetabbix · 01/07/2024 08:55

I don't like them as they are too narrow for my big toes 😅

But thin soled shoes are good for your feet.

Wearing big cushioned trainers all the time weakens the muscles and can cause all sorts of issues with your feet.

(hence the trend for 'barefoot' shoes amongst a lot of people into fitness etc.)

FrenchandSaunders · 01/07/2024 08:55

I agree, it's like walking on the pavement.

My DD bought me the big chunky ones and they are much better.

protectoroftherealm · 01/07/2024 09:01

I don't wear anything but converse! Comfiest shoes I have, take no wearing in and I wear them with absolutely everything! Send your used converse size 5s my way people!

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 01/07/2024 09:04

I've loved them in the past but I've got this newish pair of OG Chuck Taylor high tops which will NOT break in. It's a real battle of wills, they've gone on the charity shop pile a few times but I keep pulling them out at the last minute because they're cute.

ForGreyKoala · 01/07/2024 09:07

Awful things.

WeRateSquirrels · 01/07/2024 09:10

I find any canvas type shoes horrendously uncomfortable, I just don't seem to have the right shaped feet for that sort of thing. For me it's not even the lack of cushioning as I can walk miles in my Saltwaters.

TheOGCCL · 01/07/2024 09:12

I’ve got long narrow feet and they are still v uncomfortable, whilst also making it seem like I’m wearing clown shoes. I want to like them as they are such classics.

Springwatch123 · 01/07/2024 09:15

I only wear them for shorter periods, quick trips to shop, pub etc, but if I’m needing to do any walking, I opt for something else.

FriendsDrinkBook · 01/07/2024 09:17

I think it depends on what you want. I like to feel the ground under my feet as much as possible and find cons very comfortable from first wear. My husband can't wear them though as he doesn't find them supportive enough.

Devilsmommy · 01/07/2024 09:18

Though I do love converse, Vans are way more comfortable

yarnwitch · 01/07/2024 09:25

I like how they look, but I have a pair of high tops I've had for years now that I only wear occasionally as they still give me blisters if I walk any distance in them.
I have a pair of cheap Primark copies which fit better.

Lidlisthebusiness · 01/07/2024 09:33

I've got many pairs of Converse, and love them. The platform ones are especially comfortable, they got me through 6 hours bouncing at a Green Day concert on Saturday! I love how there's so many colours, styles and patterns, and they go with everything.

Mairzydotes · 01/07/2024 11:41

Rocket Dog jazzin are a comfy , wider alternative in a similar style. They have cushioned soles and the ho tops have zips. They are often cheaper too.

bananaboats · 01/07/2024 11:45

Weirdly I find them very comfortable as as I have problems with pretty much every other shoes lol!
