Aged 46, size 8. Wedding in Sept. Is it a bit prom like, youthful, mutton / lamb?

I love the lace one. It's very classic. The Ghost one is just awful - sorry..

Beautiful dress!! Buy it now!!!!

FreddieMercurysCat · 24/06/2024 18:43

Both dresses are gorgeous. The first is the best by far and will look fantastic. It’s also totally ageless so you could wear it whatever your age.

pomers · 24/06/2024 18:45

It’s gorgeous

PhotoFirePoet · 24/06/2024 18:51

I think it’s a beautiful vintage style dress which would suit any age.

NannaKaren · 24/06/2024 19:14

You will rock that frock - go get it ! ❤️

SchoolQuestionnaire · 24/06/2024 19:18

It’s beautiful! From the title I thought it was going to be a massive meringue!!

Iwanttogetitright · 24/06/2024 19:27

Unquestionably, imo, the first is stupendous. Eyebrow raising - especially when looking at the lace detail.

second one could look fabulous but I agree with other comments- small busted model does no favours in the display.
Have an awesome wedding & own it!

Go with the first one.

letsallmeetupinthehyear2000 · 24/06/2024 19:32

I think it is perfect x

letsallmeetupinthehyear2000 · 24/06/2024 19:36

Not keen on the ghost one but it may be the way it’s modelled. The most beautiful brides I have seen are the ones who chose a dress they felt comfortable in and didn’t cost them a fortune

It’s beautiful but anyone over 35 shouldn’t wear white (I’m aware that my opinion is controversial).

It’s very clearly ivory. And either way that’s a very judgmental statement.

Blarn · 24/06/2024 19:40

The first one is beautiful, really lovely.

JT12 · 24/06/2024 20:11

It's lovely and tasteful and not mutton dressed as lamb at all. Congratulations

Elspeth7 · 24/06/2024 20:30

I'm 48, getting married next month, and I don't think that dress looks young at all. It's very elegant and understated. I'm wearing a proper A line wedding gown and don't care what people think. It's modest but glamourous and I think it's still age appropriate. It is still okay for an older person to look glamorous. Just look at some red carpet stars you like.
The second dress did look poor on the model but maybe its nicer on you.
As for people saying not to wear white over 35, wise up! Soooo many people much older look fantastic in white. Look up Carole Kirkwood's recent wedding, she looks stunning and is much older than us.
I do like that first dress, but you said you feel it's too late to get something special- if that's what you want it really isn't too late! Loads of shops do sample sales and you can leave with the dress immediately. You deserve to feel special, so make sure you do whatever you wear.

neighboursmustliveon · 24/06/2024 20:40

My friend who was about your age when she married and wore something very similar. She looked beautiful and I’m sure you will too.

Tomatina · 24/06/2024 21:04

The first one is really beautiful - simple, classy and a bit different from the usual wedding dress. Would suit any age, especially if you are slim (you say size 8).

Second dress (Ghost) not so much. It looks floppy like a slip or nightie and the length is the most unflattering - lower calf. Avoid.

Toptops · 24/06/2024 21:10

The lace one is gorgeous and classy. You'll look lovely in it.
Not so keen on the second one, agree the model is too skinny for the dress

I have already body this but went to the venue today and feel like I have underperformed. https://www.ghost.co.uk/grace-dress6-d04g010-m12

It’s a beautiful stately home but I bought a cheap dress because I could not find anything that was right and didn’t cost £2k. Realising now my dress is cheaper than cake or corkage and feel a fool. It’s too late to get anything special…

There is no law that says each aspect of any event must cost a certain amount. If you like the dress, wear it.

retirementrocks · 24/06/2024 21:39

First dress is really lovely. The second looks a bit like a posh satin nightie....sorry!

alied321 · 24/06/2024 22:07

Absolutely not, it’s beautiful. Get it ordered.

canyouseemyhousefromhere · 24/06/2024 22:44

It's beautiful, elegant and classy.

Change the question
> R U 2 YOUNG 4 that wedding dress ? !!
Think about it
> THAT wedding dress IS clearly 4 oldies
U R ONLY 46 - that IS 2 YOUNG 4 that dress

Kjpt140v · 25/06/2024 01:04

Hate the dress, but you are not too old.

Fraaahnces · 25/06/2024 03:28

Not at all helpful, but I love both of them, and I don’t generally like wedding dresses at all!

Christielorretta · 25/06/2024 03:53

No I think this is far from being to young poss a bit frumpy, but I bet you will feel beautiful in it. If you are comfortable in whatever outfit, there is no such thing as mutton dressed as lamb I'm 48 and id have no problem wearing this in fact think it might be a bit old ladyish - my mums kinda outfit. Rip. Please post photo of outfit when u actually go out on the day of wedding.
