Aged 46, size 8. Wedding in Sept. Is it a bit prom like, youthful, mutton / lamb?

It’s gorgeous - and you’ll look beautiful.

Mrsredlipstick · 26/06/2024 16:48

The lace dress is lovely. I have a fine nose for mutton and work in fashion/beauty.

Find a nice slim toed shoe.

ilovesushi · 26/06/2024 17:02

It's beautiful!

DreamBream234 · 26/06/2024 17:07

I don't like either! You are a size 8 and can definitely carry off something more bridal and it will look stunning!

Charming.

Why do you find that offensive?
I said it was lovely. The second sentence was ment to answer the op re mutton or not. It's not.
Dear God.

AyrshireTryer · 26/06/2024 18:01

I like the first one.

Dear God.

"a nose for mutton" / "mutton dressed as lamb" are horrible, judgemental, sexist and ageist.

One might have hoped someone who claims they work in fashion/beauty would know that.

I don't think you are reading the post correctly. The OP used the expression.

And I have worked in my industry for decades, would you like to see my awards? Or are you just looking to have a fight? Typical munsnet angry poster. This is not AIBU.

Italiangreyhound · 26/06/2024 22:02

Perfect dress.

AmIEnough · 27/06/2024 07:33

Definitely not! It’s lovely! Many congratulations!

Or typical MN ageism. I'm aware the OP used the phrase "mutton". "Mutton dressed as lamb" is a ghastly expression - but boasting you "have a nose for mutton" takes it to a new level.

I'm not interested in your awards and I definitely wouldn't want your advice on style or fashion.

Bowies · 27/06/2024 09:36

I love the Ghost dress but seen in IRL and the model isn’t showcasing it well, which will lead to bias.

I’m not a fan of the Net a Porter company due to personal experience, the dress is also too fussy for my taste but I think it’s your wedding and should wear what you feel comfortable in.

Perhaps you could wear both, seems to be a thing now? The Ghost dress will be less restrictive for dancing.

Mrsredlipstick · 27/06/2024 09:47

@IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle
So you're back to insult me.
The OP was being light hearted as was I.

You seem an angry person even early in the morning. I wasn't giving you advice so please don't tag me again.

Never too old rock and roll! We age at different speeds too!

Berlinlover · 22/06/2024 22:01

It’s beautiful but anyone over 35 shouldn’t wear white (I’m aware that my opinion is controversial).

Why...in case the religious fashion police are on patrol? Or are you worried she would need to provide medical evidence of having a hymen in order to be allowed to wear white?

tsmainsqueeze · 27/06/2024 18:27

I love them both but prefer the lace one and no way are you too old !!

Maray1967 · 27/06/2024 20:05

I prefer the first one - it’s beautiful. I’d wear it and I’m older than you. It’s very elegant.

PepsiMaxPerfect · 27/06/2024 22:25

The FACT that U R seekin permission INDICATES
that U R NOT comfortable - I do NOT make the rules

People OVER 35 R lookin 4 permission
If U R comfortable / happy then U do NOT need permission

Isthisreasonable · 28/06/2024 00:29

Grace dress looks really frumpy

It’s beautiful and you aren’t too old at all.
My only concern is that it looks like a wedding dress itself. That’s just my opinion though.

Dontliketheheat · 28/06/2024 18:30

Wear the one you like and feel comfortable in . Don’t worry about whether it’s posh enough . I had a knee length linen halter neck dress - don’t regret it at all 20 years later - think it cost me £50

Confused why is it a concern that a dress being bought as a wedding dress looks like one?Grin

Asking for opinions isn't remotely the same as 'seeking permission'.
