All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

That would be 12.40 AM! I could only sleep 18 hours if I were drugged!

unknownrebelbang · 25/04/2008 22:03

Today, I have been eating...........aftershave .
DS3 knocked DH's over this morning, and I could taste it tonight, hmm lovely.

And if I mention Wright's Pies...saggars will no doubt confirm how bad my food intake has been today .

Ah well, happiness high anyway. Just endured a rather boring AGM by cuddling a three day old baby. I'm not baby-mad but she was gorgeous, tiny and perfect, and oh just adorable. And I held her for the best part of an hour, cos I was sat next to mum, others had to make do with about 2 minutes each, hehe.

They've re-arranged the office at work and I've survived! (The last time they did it, I had a complete hissy fit because I wasn't consulted and I was really affected by it - was having a bad time generally).

unknownrebelbang · 25/04/2008 22:09

Oh, and our cleaner (at work) has proved she's bonkers.

She likes my hair up, says I look 20. So I brazenly asked her how old I look when it's down - and she said 30 or 40, pml.

Bonkers I tell ya.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/04/2008 22:29

So we've done all this bootcamping to look a measly 10 years younger when putting our hair-up and stinking of spilt aftershave would have knocked off between 10 and 20 years? I'm changing to that plan.

unknownrebelbang · 25/04/2008 22:33

If life were so simple, eh, Duchess?

She is bonkers.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/04/2008 17:49
tharsheblows · 27/04/2008 11:09

argh, can I slink back on? Bootcamping not going so well, realised I hadn't body-creamed one day because I hadn't showered in a couple, sigh.

Made an appointment at the gym to join and go tomorrow; figured it was the only way I'd make it there. Not an inspiring start.

Onwards and upwards!

WideWebWitch · 27/04/2008 11:15

lol at hair up

yesterday

toast x 3
bacon roll
lentil and feta salad
home made hummus
green salad
bruschetta
Cava
VERY late night, but utterly pleasurable so worth it

and have friends coming for lunch today so that will be nice

need an early night tonight, may go when children do.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/04/2008 13:39

I'm thinking of joining the gym too thar - when the knee improves.

Well I had my two glasses of wine last night after 10 days abstinence and today I'm plagued by short bursts of tachycardia/palpatations. Might just give it up for good. Maybe.

Bit sad today as my friend lost her brother in a motorcycle accident last night. It was just up the road from here.

moonshine · 27/04/2008 17:30

Saggars - oh that's terrible .

An outbreak of spots on my chin and a sudden aversion to dh tell me that the pms week has begun. I did feel better after taking my cocktail of pills but that must have been psychological - they're not exactly Class A drugs, more's the pity.

I have very odd legs today as have been experimenting. Sprayed one with Sally Hansen 'airbrush' instant tanner and the other with L'oreal gradual tanner. Dh said the Hansen leg looked more natural and had a nice gleam but no way does it look airbrushed - still definitely an improvement. The other leg, meanwhile, now looks like a fat giraffe's, it is so patchy . Thank God the weather is going to be crap again this week.

Oh and meant to say some of those Whistles clothes linked to earlier are lush but very £££ for me unfortunately.

Bootcamp end of weekend report is 5/10 for me - didn't even manage the gym today. Teeth will be gritted tomorrow as I'm going hardcore.....

Prufrock · 27/04/2008 17:39

Very bad week for me on bootcamp, combination of my birthday (lots of alcohol) and ds's birthday (my youngest is 4 can you believe it?) which meant lots of icing eaten as I was creating his cake last night.

But on the positive side, I bought this as my birthday present to myself and discovered in the shop that I do actually have (IISSM) quite stunning legs. OK, from mid thigh up they are disgustingly fat and flabby, but all the ballsquats with my personal trainer have actually paid off and my calves and lower thighs are quite gloriously toned. (I'm not usually this boastful, but I'm in the middle of the gratitude therapy thing)

Prufrock · 27/04/2008 17:49

monshine - I always get a spotty chin just before my period. I use this as soon as they appear and it really does make them clear up quicker (as would resisting the siren call to pick them of course )
saggers I am sorry.

well done Enid. I wish I could still say I was keeping up with you, but I'm obviously just not committed enough. I know that wine and chocolate will mean I won't lose weight, but I still prefer having wine and chocolate.

marina · 27/04/2008 20:28

Lurches in after a hectic weekend to say belated happy birthday to prufrock and ds, LOL at moonshine's fat giraffe leg (I am sure it was Issy who once accidentally epilated one eyebrow only live on Mn...) and very sorry about your friend's brother saggars Good friend of mine's car was slammed into at speed by a joy-rider on Friday night. Car a write-off, she could have been seriously hurt if she had been in the family banger rather than their big, newer car, according to the police. She is normally so positive and energetic at church and looked a shadow of her usual self
Bootcamping was OKish - I certainly covered the miles, herding a gang of chatty parents and their mischievous offspring through central London for a school trip, and back, on Saturday. Outing a big success but was knackered in the evening
Plenty of water, good eating, happiness high.

unknownrebelbang · 27/04/2008 21:05

Saggars, how awful. DH was talking about it today (he was on duty last night, and he v nearly had to attend).

And ewww at Chicken tikka, no I had good old-fashioned meat and tater.

DH spent the afternoon at A&E yesterday with DS3, and his blardy foot. He was at karate, but damaged it whilst playing footie! More blardy copycat stuff - when DS1 had his tooth out two months ago, he hurt his ankle a couple of days later. spooky. Thankfully it's just a soft tissue injury, so a couple of days' rest and he should be fine.

Bootcamp, what bootcamp?
Tomorrow's another day, another fresh start.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/04/2008 23:27

So sorry about your friends brother saggars. I know my liberal, freedom of choice idylls will go out the window if one my DSs ever wants a motorbike.

Impressed by all you nearly-gym-bunnies.

I've had quite a good weekend despite pelvic pain at the front, which can only be described as feeling as if I've been knifed in the vagina. I saved that description for here because you will all be less terrified than the first-time mothers on the Ante-natal Thread!! I have another physio appointment tomorrow but I'm not sure there's much to be done (other than giving birth).

Cereal; iron supplement drowned in lime juice cordial; cheese, ham, crackers & fruit; apples; carrots; orange; baked potatoe with salad & toasted pinenuts.

Not much exercise or sleep - hardly surprising. But I've done well on the lotions and water.

Hope you all have a good week.

FYIAD · 28/04/2008 11:03

terrible weekend

back to 10.12 this am

huge amounts of booze
curry
cake
roast pork and crackling
apple pie
etc etc
oh and booze

big dinner party on friday night and dd3's sweet 2nd birthday picnic on saturday

very happy today though and relieved stress of weekend is over

have had a banana and a cup of tea today - will go and eat bowl of porridge in a minute then baked beans, apple and yogurt for lunch.

Still HAVE NOT ordered pedoemter

body brushing going well and spots on legs have disappeared.

moonshine - lol at sudden aversion to dh. my pmt was so terrible last week. Is tehre ANYTHING one can do about it other than get pg?

FYIAD · 28/04/2008 11:04

duchess sounsd like baby has dropped very low...exciting...

saggars - so sorry to hear about your friend's brother.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/04/2008 11:36

enid - but not as exciting as the new girdle my physio has just given me. Wait til DH sees it...

FYIAD · 28/04/2008 13:00

lol

I had a smashing one when I had spd in my last pg

they glued it on

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/04/2008 13:26

arf @ glue. Mine is a velcro contraption - which the dog barked at whilst I was undoing all it's various strappings earlier.

Monkeytrousers · 28/04/2008 13:29

I just ate a packet of cola bottles..maybe next week..again

foxinsocks · 28/04/2008 13:39

poor you saggars. Happy birthday prufrock and thanks everyone for your birthday wishes.

I have survived tooth and bone sawing. Was OK other than the fact that I opted for a local anaesthetic so while lying there getting my face numbed, the surgeon kept bringing in all his tools that looked like something out of a medieval torture chamber. Anyway, in the end, it was quick and simpler than they thought so that's good.

Have boozed and eating very badly all weekend due to a weekend of partying and having lots of people round so will vow to be better this week!

PMT - there are all sorts of supplements that people swear by. Evening primrose oil is one but it takes a few months to kick in. I find fish oil the best but you have to try a few different supplements. I reckon it gets worse as you get older (I find this) so my new theory is that it will peak just before we hit menopause so that it makes us relieved to have got to that age !

FYIAD · 28/04/2008 14:32

tbh the menopause sounds great just now

I did take floresse for a while and it really helped, also Dong quai (some chinese herb thing), must do it again.

yoyo · 28/04/2008 15:53

A reasonable w/e with food but alcohol was consumed albeit in more measured quantities than usual.
Been to gym and spoken to Personal trainer. Am going to part with cash after checking that I can leave work earlier once a week to see her. Rather excited at the prospect of exercise.

PMT is getting me down at the moment too. Also having periods every 2.5 to 3 weeks which last for up to a week. Anyone else experience this or should I be booking in with Doc? Getting all the period symptoms so don't think it is "unusual bleeding". Peri-menopause?

Anyone seen anything in M&S suitable for a formal(ish) supper? No other shops that I can get to quickly unfortunately and I have to sort it by Wed. V. big M&S though.

Loads to do so best shut this thing down.

Hope everyone has started the week in a positive way. DoNB - when are you due?

moonshine · 28/04/2008 18:22

I am on Magnesium ok,agnus castus and eps in an attempt to manage the pmt - not sure if I dare add dong quai as well to the list - I am already a human rattle. It definitely has got worse with age and periods are irregular but mine always have been. Yoyo - has your pattern changed a lot recently?

Prufrock - lovely dress btw - but it's a top, no? (Well it would be for me!). My legs have never been my best feature so am , and am now thinking I will chicken out of wearing knee length skirts this summer - I think cropped trousers will be my way forward.

Duchess - you are making me feel very nostalgic. Dd is a May baby and it's a fantastic time to have a baby - no being pregnant in oppressive heat but warm(ish) days ahead to look forward to whilst strolling with baby in pram and stopping for lots of picnics [takes off rose-tinted spectacles].

Food - good today.

Moisturising - check.

Sunscreen - check.

Mood - slightly manic and murderous due to the aforementioned pms.
