I'm meeting friends I haven't seen in years.
Going for food and cocktails
I know it's boring and black and safe but I just don't go out out a lot
I don't like dresses and it's forecast rain this weekend anyway.
Does this look okay?
Or do I need to ditch the jeans and look for some trousers ?(didn't really want to spend any money on clothes )so did a wardrobe raid

What does everyone think about swapping the black Jenas for some light blue jeans ?

It looks 'okay', but the tight silhouette head to toe is very dated. I'd swap the jeans for looser blue jeans, or the top for a white cropped loose fit t-shirt and add a belt. Simple (cheap) swaps, but they'll update it completely.

I'm not a fan of tops tucked into jeans at all. Do you have a looser top that would hang over the waistband? Ideally a different colour too!

All the beautiful colours of clothes that exist, I don’t know why you’d wear an outfit that’s all black. Especially when you have such a slim figure and would suit almost anything! Be bolder and brighter. It’s summertime!

A lovely dressy blouse tucked into the black jeans would look better or that top with a maxi skirt really in. My DD 18 would wear super wide leg jeans with a top like that. It's the black and black and the tight and tight. No the blue ones are too casual.

Those blue jeans are still really slim in the leg, and the light wash is a bit casual for the top. What other tops have you got? Even a basic t-shirt would work if it's the right fit. I agree with @Quitelikeacatslife

It's my time of the month and that's why I kind of want to stick to the darker on the bottom just to feel a bit more confident

@angieputthekettleokay If you don’t go out a lot and are not particularly interested in clothes you may want a re-set before deciding on an outfit.

Why not have a browse through the ‘New’ pages of sites like:

Zara
American Vintage
Cos
Massimo Dutti

to get a better idea of the proportions, colours, styling that look contemporary right now. You don’t have to buy anything new if you don’t want to - but you might feel better on the day if you look a bit more up to date.

Do you think so? I think straight away it’s looking better than those tight jeans you have! Although I’m not loving the pattern of these the shape is much more on trend!

Unless they suit me
I don't like the wide leg trend so stick to slim because I like those
With tops anything goes
Love strapless /one shoulder etc
Colours etc

Looks great! Wear them with some chunky gold or silver accessories.

And are those trainers you have in the picture gazelles? Stick those on with some wider trousers and it’s coming together.

I am going to stick my hand out and say your look is dated, dark and uncomfortable for summer.
Those wide leg trousers look silly because they are an ugly print. Try another, maybe in navy.

@Fridgetapas it could be because I'm not used to wearing them so it's a bit of a shock to the system
