It's lovely to see Mette-Marit looking cheery and healthy. And Mary does seem to be a bit less frosty with Norty Fred.

Mary’s dress is nice but the colour is a bit insipid on her. And Mette Marit appears to have struggled to choose between two dresses so wore them both!

She has to be today. It's their 20th wedding anniversary so stories will be making reference to their marriage (and possibly the state of it.).

Normal frostiness will be resumed shortly.

Timing is everything though - this was started a few years ago but has only just been completed and so becomes Charles’ first official portrait. So as his first official portrait of King - well, the memes it will lead to are inevitable…🤣

It would have lead to memes regardless of when or context. I hope they'll be slightly wittier and will display better comprehension than the tampons remarks but I won't hold my breath (tried it: turned blue).

I don't know much about art but... I'm not sure what I like either. I do like the face in this portrait and I found that clicking on the link and seeing it in full was a great improvement.

MM's dress reminds me of one of my 'party dresses' from the 1970s but with a jacket over the top.

Leti's bottom half is really jarring there. Too long to be cullottes too short for trousers. I guess they were acquired to be worn with skyscraper heels. Someone needs to get busy altering hems to suit all the flat footwear.

Just can't get on board, don't know if it's the colour, design.

I can't get over how similar Mary's white jacket worn during the day yesterday is to Mette Marit's white evening jacket worn at the gala dinner. Both worn the same day in each other's company but at totally different types of event.

To me the jacket has nothing to mark it as evening attire - not the fabric, not the cut, there's no sparkle. Assuming Mette Marit is wearing a dress not skirt underneath it's as if she decided the dress wasn't a good fit on the top half and just threw a business jacket over it. Odd.

She's worn it before but the colour seemed stronger then which helps distract your eye from the underlayer.

Ooh I love Max in that pink dress. Love it. Like a bit of broderie anglais. Kate looked gorgeous in a pale blue broderie outfit a couple of years ago.

Yes, spot on about MM’s white jacket being an odd choice for an evening. And it looks like she needs a better bra.

The white jacket is like the mumsnet wrap in case it gets chilly. Perhaps she had been frozen before.
