Comfy but frumpy?

Ive tried these on and they are the most comfortable, cushioned, supportive sandals I’ve ever worn. But- can I choose comfort over style? I know they’re not the most fashion forward.
I look daft in a dress and trainers so need an every day alternative.

There are a lot of sandals like this around ATM. I don't think it's worth ruining your feet for fashion so if you like them go ahead. I don't think they're frumpy

Bananadramallamas · 02/05/2024 09:01

Frumpy seems to be fashionable at the moment. Get them if you like them. Comfort is underrated imo.

TheOGCCL · 02/05/2024 09:56

Clumpy and frumpy is in at the moment.

DailyEnergyCrisis · 02/05/2024 10:47

Thank you everyone. I’m going to indulge the soles of my feet with the cushiony loveliness- really appreciate your responses.

I'm thinking of starting a campaign to redefine "stylish items" as those we find comfortable and those things we wear to look stylish but which are a nightmare of, too tight/too high/too spiky or digging in etc, to wear as frumpy. I think we'd all be a lot happier.

ClipClopperDontStopper · 02/05/2024 11:25

They don't seem frumpy to me. Clunky is the popular style at the moment and has been for the past couple of summers. With sandals you need to consider what you use them for. If you're going to be walking a lot in them then I'd always sacrifice a bit of style for comfort.

KateMiskin · 02/05/2024 11:49

I don't like them but they are actually very fashion forward!

CoffeeCantata · 02/05/2024 13:52

OP, I don't think they are frumpy. They are a certain 'look', but I wouldn't say frumpy.

(But personally I do think appearance is more important than comfort. So if I couldn't find a comfortable sandal, for eg, I'd get another kind of shoe instead, not a frumpy sandal, if you know what I'm trying to say!

I've had this argument with friends many times and all I know is, I would be much more metaphorically uncomfortable wearing something I knew was frumpy than I would having a physically uncomfortable item of clothing. Crazy, but that's how I feel!)

SpaSpa · 02/05/2024 14:55

They look better in the beige colour.

quizzys · 02/05/2024 14:59

I was just about to say that a lighter colour would look great for summer wear too.

I'm in the comfort outweighs discomfort when it comes to footwear, but there are limits too! Those sandals are fine.

I'm looking at walking sandals for an upcoming trip. OMG now they look clumpy and dumpy but still, if they work for me and I can walk miles in them I'll wear them.

No one is looking at me, they are far too busy looking at themselves AFAIS.

drusth · 02/05/2024 15:17

I doubt they are the comfiest, they look too high.

But yes, prioritise comfort over fashion.

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/05/2024 15:19

I wish they came in my size.....

hellswelshy · 02/05/2024 15:19

I like them! And tan goes with pretty much everything so win win.

Pattothecatto · 02/05/2024 15:20

They aren’t frumpy though

BarrelOfOtters · 02/05/2024 15:23

They aren't frunpy.

louderthan · 02/05/2024 15:57

They're very on-trend.

I think I agree but I have beige in another style from Dune so after black.

They are so comfy- I can’t wear heels for longer than 3 minutes but these are really supportive through the arch of the foot with a cushioned leather sole.

Please stop with the word 'comfy' - it's just so frumpy!

I refuse to wear anything that’s not a) comfortable and b) makes me happy/suits my personal style. If these tick those boxes for you, wear and enjoy!

HippyKayYay · 02/05/2024 16:28

I really like these! I don't think they're 'frumpy' (whatever that means). But I hate the look of delicate, strappy sandals

everythinglooksbetterpaintedblack · 02/05/2024 16:32

Can someone link somethings that are not classed as frumpy.
Everything I own would be classed as frumpy.

ComfyButFrumpy · 02/05/2024 16:32

They look good to me 😄

HelpMeSpendIt · 02/05/2024 16:46

Ugly and frumpy - sorry. I don't need to wear elegant/smart shoes all the time, but I wouldn't wear those - ever. That does lead to an issue for me because I loathe flat sandals. I can just about bear flat shoes (I'm a heel addict - or flat knee-high boots) but I just can't do flat sandals... So in summer I'm forever in wedges. But if you like them, go for it. In my books you should wear what makes you happy - who cares what others think?
