Comfy but frumpy?

Ive tried these on and they are the most comfortable, cushioned, supportive sandals I’ve ever worn. But- can I choose comfort over style? I know they’re not the most fashion forward.
I look daft in a dress and trainers so need an every day alternative.

Thanks everyone for your opinions- really helpful.
I bought them and actually wore them out last night with a black denim midi skirt, white t shirt and grey bomber, plus hoops and felt great.

Soooo, what are they like size wise OP? Maybe compared to other brands?

Eg If someone was a 7 in Nike and Doc Martens but more like an 8 in New Balance and most other shoes?

Asking for a friend of course 😬

Definitely true to size- I’m a 5 and 5 fits perfectly (but then I wear a 5 in all my NB trainers too). They aren’t the widest fit which suits me as otherwise I might roll my ankle on the platform bit- I like the support. The leather is incredibly soft so I think they’d stretch well if needed.

When men buy clothes and shoes, I don't think concepts like 'frumpy' even cross their minds.

Just sayin'....

MerryChristmasToYou · 03/05/2024 16:48

@duc748 , it does but they don't use the word frumpy.

duc748 · 03/05/2024 16:50

No, they certainly don't!

MerryChristmasToYou · 03/05/2024 17:10

I can only go by my own experience and men vary.
From the men I've gone shopping with (not many), I'd say about 50:50.
I think they are generally less concerned about body shape and weight.

Lifeomars · 03/05/2024 17:27

Not at all "frumpy" especially the beige (horrible word) ones which would look really good with summer stuff. I have had Hush Puppy shoes and they are so comfy, my days of torturing my feet like the little mermaid are long gone.

They look better in the beige colour.

Yes, much better! It's shocking the difference it makes.

fairymary87 · 03/05/2024 18:19

I love them!!! Buy them!!!! Do it

RampantIvy · 03/05/2024 18:21

duc748 · 03/05/2024 16:50

No, they certainly don't!

I agree, but my view is influenced by DH who has zero interest in his appearance. He has long arms and long legs and just wants something that fits.

Ivereallyhadenoughnow · 03/05/2024 22:00

TBH all the young mums around here are wearing these at the moment. I feel grumpy not wearing them 😂

ThaMiSporsail · 27/05/2024 10:58

Glad you bought them op, they're lovely.

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis which at the time primarily affected my feet (alas, it's everywhere now) in my mid 30s. As a result, I've had no choice but to choose comfort for years. So I've made a feature of what I call The Unexpected Shoe. A beautiful black velvet midi dress for evening with blue and red Adidas Trimm Trabs, or a Vampire's Wife-style dress with sandals similar to yours, op. I've come to love a geeky shoe. And (RA aside!) I can always walk as comfortably at the end of the evening as I could at the start.

I love being medically exempt from heels!

Enjoy your lovely new shoes 😊

Clumpy and frumpy is in at the moment.

That's lucky!
All my clothes are like this!

Am I actually in fashion for once?

🤣🤣🤣

TheShellBeach · 27/05/2024 13:52

I can only wear Cushion Walk trainers. The end.

I have tried on countless shoes and sandals over the years, and I just can't walk in them.

I have two pairs of sandals which I wear with dresses, but I don't walk in them. I put them on, we go out to dinner in a taxi, and I manage to get from the car to the restaurant table (and back) wearing them.

Wheredidileavemycarkeys · 27/05/2024 14:48

But- can I choose comfort over style?

Well you are allowed to wear clothes that are comfy you know. The Patriarchy Police won’t come after you (and even if they do you’ll be able to out run them)

quizzys · 27/05/2024 16:19

The word Comfy needs to be banned. Now.

bringmorewashing · 27/05/2024 17:08

Enjoy them, they're definitely in fashion at the moment. Not that it matters if you like them. I don't look right in the trendy clumpy shoes of the moment for whatever reason (my feet are already wide enough I guess!)

mathanxiety · 27/05/2024 17:22

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2024 11:19

I'm thinking of starting a campaign to redefine "stylish items" as those we find comfortable and those things we wear to look stylish but which are a nightmare of, too tight/too high/too spiky or digging in etc, to wear as frumpy. I think we'd all be a lot happier.

I'd sign up to that!

Yeah it's always made me feel a bit sick.

measureofmydreams · 27/05/2024 22:15

@DailyEnergyCrisis really pleased to hear you bought them and enjoyed wearing them out - and your outfit sounds fab. I like them and they are very much what I'm looking for. I'd go for the black for what I wear. I think I'll now have to try a pair on😀.

Divebar2021 · 28/05/2024 00:17

I love the idea that hundreds of people are psychologically cheered by the teetering steps of women in their heels. Not that they’re seen too often nowadays around these parts ( thankfully ). I like the shoes a lot OP and I hope you enjoy them.

yumyumyumy · 27/05/2024 21:53

Yeah it's always made me feel a bit sick.

Can I add "yummy" to the banned list please?

And frumpy

echt · 28/05/2024 09:38

They are lovely. I like a clumpy sandal, me. Smile

Grammarnut · 28/05/2024 19:10

I have seen lots of those. They do seem fashionable. If comfy have them.
