What do you really think of DKNY and Mk bags?

im in my late 30’s. Do they look tacky and cheap or okay? I don’t want to look like a teenager (I wish!) what do you think?

I stupidly posted in AIBU where people are telling me not to care! Would you buy one if not why?

I really like Coach bags, i have a couple of old leather "day bag" ones that i like the quality of and a 2022 pink one which is "fun". I have a prada purse and the leather quality is very comparable imo

I have a DKNY from 2010 (no obvious branding) which i love the shape of but is really plasticy.

I bought a MK one in 2014 which i hate as it feels like a shit quality one but is quite large so i use it to carry stuff if i want to change.

When i need a new bag it will be a strathberry - fyi they have a sale on atm making some bags sub 300.

I'm not really into designer handbags but I bought a plain black MK one in New York about 7 years ago when they were popular, just a tote style one. It doesn't feel cheap and the logo is miminal , however I do feel it is out of fashion now, I don't think I would purchase one now.

I love Coach bags for every day, if you look on their website they often have a sale. They're great quality for the money. Lulu Guinness are also great quality and a bit quirky which I like.

I used to have a few Kate Spade bags but gave them all to the charity shop after the Dylan Mulvaney media campaign

Came on to say Coach. I’m eyeing up the tabby bag, that style is really popular at the minute.

I’ve got two Kate Spade bags and also two MK. I haven’t used the MK bags for years.

I love Coach, they're great quality, good range of styles, and I feel like the price actually does reflect what you get.

It's also neither pretending to be high end or going to be found in tk maxx. It just is what it is.

What does everyone think of this one?

Does it look old fashioned as it’s in clearance so much cheaper than rest which have a less metallic logo. The latest ones are more like a material c logo rather than the full name (hope I’m making sense!)

I actually think the quality of Michael Kors bags are really good. I have one and it is a lovely durable leather, the hardware wears well and it still looks good after lots of use. In terms of style I don't see any difference between them and any other comparable brands like Marc Jacobs, Coach, Mulberry etc. I think it's just snobby people who have to not like MK anymore because they are affordable and worn by teens and the masses. Avoid the ones with big tacky badges but otherwise they are a decent.

DKNY is less expensive and not as good quality- lots of them are not leather and more in line with

I have that Coach bag and it’s great, I would recommend. Great size for chucking my laptop and work stuff in, it’s a proper workhorse.

I have a DKNY tote covered in the logo- I couldn’t give a rat’s arse if people think it’s tacky. It’s lasted for ages and I can fit everything in it.
Coach, Longchamp etc are all very nice but I couldn’t justify their prices .

if you look on second hand sites they are full of MK so I suspect they are not popular anymore.

I prefer a nice leather bag. Brand doesn’t matter to me.
TK Maxx always has a nice selection of Italian ones.

I actually remembered today that I have a very old bag that DH gave me on our 1st wedding anniversary. I’ve never even taken out of the packaging. I’ll post a pic of it over the weekend when I go in the attic to find. It was a Prada tote but I felt embarrassed incase anyone thought it was fake (it’s not) can you guys give me your true opinion, I’ll post a pic of it when I get a chance. Thank you so much, my confidence is so low at the moment I’m hoping having a nice bag and a few new outfits will help me. I’ve booked a free consultation with John Lewis to get a few everyday outfits.

I have a DKNY bag about somewhere but the quality wasn't great, bought it because it was quite "fun" but it didn't last very long.

My day-to-day bags are a lovely orange Kate spade shoulder bag that gets dragged all over the place but has remained looking very good and a blue coach bowling style bag with a cross body strap, which again has survived very well. Both big enough for assorted junk but not so big as to end up giving me backache.

MK reminds me of a uni friend 10 + years ago who collected them so feels a little dated to me now.

I bought a DKNY bag a few years ago because it was on sale. It was ok but not the same as some of my other bags.

Never had a DKNY bag but have had a few MK bags which have lasted, have had two coach bags and MK have lasted much longer even using one everyday for work, had Katie Loxton backpack which I loved but straps broke - I say get what bag you want and doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks 😀

I was bought a MK bag about 5-6 years ago, and it still looks really good. I don’t use it as often since Covid, but it’s my everyday bag. It’s a lovely olive green, very subtle logo, just slouchy enough and pretty roomy.
I’ve also got a pink coach bag in a similar style, if I used handbags every day like I used to, I’d change it over!

the MK one feels better quality to me but there’s not loads of difference.

MK and DKNY are very tacky and not elegant at all IMO.

try demellier, polene or sezane (real leather) if sale you can get it cheap.

or cheaper brand is JWpei lots of good classic bag there. (Vegan leather)
