im in my late 30’s. Do they look tacky and cheap or okay? I don’t want to look like a teenager (I wish!) what do you think?

I stupidly posted in AIBU where people are telling me not to care! Would you buy one if not why?

Neither brand is my taste,
Paula Kirkwood, independent, beautiful, handmade, last you a life time.

I really wish I hadn't seen your post because after clicking on the link, I now need one or more of PK's bags. They're gorgeous!!!!

MK and DKNY are not to my taste either. They can look cheap and as per an earlier post, they're often made in China.

I wouldn’t wear either brand as they are not my taste. I’m really picky with handbags, not because I’m a handbag queen, it’s because I find many styles at the moment very unfortunate looking, especially the Y2K inspired shoulder bags.

I actually only have 3 handbags - 2 cross body bags from Whistles, think the styles called Bibi. I’ve had the black leather one for about 4 years, it’s still going strong and is a great little bag. Fits alot more in then you’d think.
I also have a bucket style bag from Coach that I got 2nd hand from EBay a few years ago. It’s great for throwing stuff in!

What about Paul Costelloe? Their bags are beautiful quality.

I think it depends, the ones with logos and bling all over are tacky.

It's like Ted Baker bags, the ones with massive bows, jewelled clasps, flowers etc look naff. But then you pay a bit more and you can get some lovely leather bags and purses (I have a lovely leather Ted Baker bag, other than a tiny embossed Ted Baker logo on the bottom you wouldn't know, same with the purse other than a tiny engraved bow on the clasp it's just a black purse)

If you’re looking for a tote, Mansur Gavriel does beautiful simple bags without the tacky branding. I’m currently eyeing up this one: https://www.mansurgavriel.com/products/everyday-cabas-black

You could also look at Sezane, their price point is great, and they have some really stylish and timeless designs.

Everyday Cabas - Black

The Everyday Cabas lives up to its name with effortless functionality and a simplistic design. Spacious enough for essentials like a laptop, notebook, or tablet, it features a secure magnetic closure, ensuring year-round convenience.

I have DKNY and MK bags. I like them. That's what matters. I look after my bags so they last. MK is a large leather shopper Ive had for around 3 years, its handy and still looks fairly new. I wouldnt even pay attention to anyone saying "tacky ". But if you would, just buy other bags based on whether someone or other deems them acceptable or not then. I didnt know handbags had to be 'in fashion'. I live and learn.

I bought the Coach willow tote as a gift for a friend who had just got a new job. It was really beautiful quality. I would definitely go for Coach above the other brands.
