Does anyone use a lip stain that actually works?

Love the idea- but they either seem to dry out lips or disappear after 5 minutes.
would love to hear about any successes!🙂

Watching with interest. I used to have a fab Revlon one which was like a felt tip at one end and lip balm on the other. It got discontinued about ten years ago but happily lasted until summer 2022 despite regular use.

I like Benefit's lip and cheek stain though they have a habit of discontinuing shades after a couple of years so i'lI find myself having to try and find an alternative colour with annoying regularity!

They often do minis on 3 for 2 in Boots which is a good way to try if you don't have a benefit counter near you.

I have tried the Korean ones and they suck all the moisture out of my lips and I have a cats bum mouth. I quite liked a fenty one,

Not really. Benetint probably came closest but it's far too 'young' for me now as it's really quite rosy pink, plus it does sort of dry out and the colour breaks up a bit.

Watching this with interest to see if anyone has a good one!

Bumping this! The best I've used is the green genie lip paint that BarryM does. It does last all day but it's not perfect.

IWouldBeSuperb · 24/03/2024 19:24

Was the Fenty one you liked the Poutsicle one @BigButtons ? I've been umming and ahhing over in my basket for a week!

BridgetRandomfuck · 24/03/2024 19:25

Ah, I was going to recommend some Korean ones as they’re all I wear, can’t bear lipstick. Have you tried some of the more moisturising ones? My current fave is Etude House Mask Proof fixing stain, does what it says and will not budge - I can come home from work still with it on after a full day. https://www.stylevana.com/en_GB/etude-house-mask-proof-fixing-tint-4g.html

Missha also do some lovely ones - but there’s such a range of brands and some are definitely more ‘juicy’ than others. I also think the colours are so much nicer, I’ve tried buying stains/tints here and they’re always really garish, whereas Korean ones are so much more natural looking.

I really like the Victoria Beckham ones although they are expensive.

I think someone should tell VB that advertising your lip products as dehydrating isn't the best marketing strategy Grin

Also meant to say if you put the stain on, wait for it to dry and then put some lip balm on over the top your lips won’t feel dry.

I used this one brand well! Some old style make up shops used to sell them when they were discontinued but have stopped now. The recent versions seem to be drier and cause my lips to feel awful

BlackBean2023 · 24/03/2024 19:35

I have a good rare beauty one. If I'm going out in the evening I apply in the morning, reapply in the afternoon and then again about 30 minutes before leaving and it lasts all night- through to the morning normally!

SlowlyLurking · 24/03/2024 19:35

Benetint

Bearpawk · 25/03/2024 00:07

Rare beauty it's outstanding. I do have to top it up every few hours but the stain lasts all day on me. Have to scrub it off at the end of the night.

SunshinePlease24 · 25/03/2024 00:55

Aldi Lacura lip kit is brilliant. It's a dupe of the Kylie Jenner version.
Unfortunately it doesn't ever come back in store and now shows as no longer available on the Aldi website.
Available on Ebay selling well over the Aldi RRP.

learieonthewildmoor · 25/03/2024 03:44

Clarins water stain
Romand juicy lip tint
Peripera ink velvet
Victoria Beckham lip tint
Really surprised at how good the VB one is.
The Fenty ones are beautiful texture and colours but wear off on me just like a regular lipstick. Elf, Benetint and Colourpop all tasted unpleasantly chemical, but I am very sensitive to fragrance.

BigButtons · 25/03/2024 07:13

Thanks all! I have spent much time looking up all your suggestions. I am drawn to the woman’s price wise but am still unsure as to how well they last. Would love to try the VB. does the stain last?

The Dior one is good too. Lasts several hours on me.

BigButtons · 25/03/2024 08:07

Sorry I meant Romand!

I use this one. https://eu.wonderskin.com/pages/perfect-lip-set?twsource=google&twwadid=664581833743&twcampaign=14078833145&gaddsource=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI28LNp4aPhQMV5hQBh2y6wFoEAAYASAAEgIexPDD_BwE

Goes on bright purple but then leaves a good stain. I then put clear lip gloss or a lip balm over the top.

AristotelianPhysics · 25/03/2024 09:02

Barry M!

https://amzn.eu/d/j8mGCS9 think it’s called Genie or something

Frieda12 · 25/03/2024 09:37

My favourite is the Fenty poutsicle followed very closely by the Kiko Milano lip ink pen. The kiko one is a bit more drying though

madeinmanc · 25/03/2024 10:17

I'd really like once that is close to the colour of my lips and not dark red, fuchsia, coral etc. but I can't ever find it.
