Evening everyone. I'm starting this new thread at a bit of a sad time, and I know we're all thinking of Kate and her family. Let's hope that as we continue in our lighthearted way, good news arrives for her, and others who are in a similar situation, either themselves or loved ones.🌷

Hmmm @Serenster I may be wrong! Reading the link I posted it says nothing about it being part of the Crown Jewels. It was only made in the 1950s and was passed down from Queen to Queen. Must be thinking of something else...

Ohhh I was looking forward to seeing Mary wear it.

Sheer?

Thank you!

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/04/2024 11:57

Ok having read into it, I think it's very likely Daisy will keep wearing it. As you said, it's one of her favourite pieces and has a lot of sentimental value to her.

We can hope, though… 😀

Margrethe knows how to combine the emerald necklace and green lace in the first pic here. In comparison Mary's high neck looks somewhat dowdy and frumpish.

I love the tiara on Mary, think it really suits her. I like the dress too, but maybe not for this occasion.

LadyEloise1 · 25/04/2024 18:08

The emeralds are lost on the green lace dress on Mary ☹️

Maireas · 25/04/2024 18:08

It's a very striking portrait of Fred and Mary. That tiara is stunning. I love the dress, but as pp have said, you can't see the necklace properly, unfortunately.

Mary looks amazing! Very regal. Fred looks like he’s playing dress up.

KillingMeDeftIy · 25/04/2024 18:12

Sophie showing some leg at Abbey Road Studios. The Mail would probably say she was “flaunting” her “toned limbs”!

Delurking here 😊
Does anyone know just how heavy these tiaras and necklaces are? And how do the royals wear such stonking great earrings without their earlobes being stretched? Are they all wearing clip-ons or do they have fittings for pierced ears?
I regularly muse over the ability to wear priceless jewels with aplomb - I would be terrified of losing a diamond or an earring!

Maireas · 25/04/2024 18:47

Wow, Sophie! She looks great there!

I really want Sophie's dress 😍

MotherofPearl · 25/04/2024 19:33

Sophie looks great there - confident and happy. However, I'm not a fan of her dress - neither the colour nor the frilly sleeves.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 25/04/2024 19:34

Cosmos some tiaras are very heavy apparently, and give the wearer headache. Some old big earrings have wires that hook over the top of the ear so it's not just the ear lobe supporting the weight.

I love Mary's dress. I agree that the necklace gets a bit lost, but the shape & colour is beautiful and I think goes better than the slightly lighter green lace dress Margrethe wore with the parure. They both look really good. Even scruffy Fred can look regal!

Eaumyword · 25/04/2024 19:51

Sophie looks fab!

AuntyMabelandPippin · 25/04/2024 20:07

Serenster · 24/04/2024 10:23

Also, Sofia added yet another set of stones to her tiara at last night’s banquet - sapphires, I presume!

That has to be the most versatile tiara ever, seeing as we’ve now seen it with the original emeralds, then pearls, turquoises, pale blue stones, dark blue stones, citrines - and also just plain with no coloured stones added at all. Are rubies next? Or amethysts? Black pearls would also be lovely…😀

And... it's mine! 😂

Lifestooshort71 · 25/04/2024 20:21

Sophie has an amazing figure and the body of the dress emphasises it but I agree about the flappy sleeves.

themessygarden · 25/04/2024 20:40

Oh wow, love that dress on Sophie, the colour is amazing.

smilesy · 25/04/2024 21:20

Eaumyword · 25/04/2024 19:51

Sophie looks fab!

Is that Abbey Road she is crossing?

Maireas · 25/04/2024 21:40

It is!

Nice piece about QEII's best tiaras. I do think the Brazilian Aquamarine one is absolutely HIDEOUS, though. And not that keen on the Burmese Ruby, either.

Sorry, no idea what happened with that link there!

Maireas · 25/04/2024 22:18

Nice article, @SqueakyDinosaur .
I do like the Girls of Great Britain - has it been worn by anyone else other than the late Queen?

OP posts:
AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/04/2024 22:19

@Maireas I'm sure Camilla has worn it, hasn't she?
