Evening everyone. I'm starting this new thread at a bit of a sad time, and I know we're all thinking of Kate and her family. Let's hope that as we continue in our lighthearted way, good news arrives for her, and others who are in a similar situation, either themselves or loved ones.🌷

I do like Me and Em dresses, as Beatrice is wearing here - I have a few myself - but that’s not my favourite of them.

Serenster · 24/04/2024 10:23

Also, Sofia added yet another set of stones to her tiara at last night’s banquet - sapphires, I presume!

That has to be the most versatile tiara ever, seeing as we’ve now seen it with the original emeralds, then pearls, turquoises, pale blue stones, dark blue stones, citrines - and also just plain with no coloured stones added at all. Are rubies next? Or amethysts? Black pearls would also be lovely…😀

I do like a tiara that can have different stones added to change it up. It’s why I love the Vladimir tiara.

Maireas · 24/04/2024 16:18

Love the versatile tiaras.

Didn't Louis look adorable yesterday on his birthday.

Maireas · 24/04/2024 17:28

He looks so cute! I see the similarity to Pa Middleton.

I agree with someone or other on IG who said it's time Sofia has another tiara at her disposal. I think she does have one or two other options, doesn't she? But this is definitely the one she wears most often. Still, I am always right behind anyone who calls for more jewellery!

Tomorrow the first official gala portrait(s) of Fred and Mary will be unveiled. I will likely be quite disappointed in Fred's - he just doesn't scream regal in the way his mother did/does - but there's no question Mary will look the part. I'm very excited to see what new jewels she'll be wearing; I'm quite sure she'll be well bedecked.

MotherofPearl · 24/04/2024 19:51

Sophie today. I think the blazer is too long over that dress, but she suits those camel colours.

Yes, camel looks good on her. What lovely photos.

In the Sofia tryptich upthread the middle panel has Sofia wearing a button tiara, which seems to be a style favoured by the Scandi princesses.

Court Jeweller has an article about all the iterations of Sofia's tiara. In no particular order emeralds/diamonds/turquoise/blue topaz/pearls/citrines. I thought we'd seen it with aquamarines but must be mistaken. 3 more and she could wear it with something different in each setting - amethysts, rubies, black pearls please if you're reading Sofia.

Eaumyword · 24/04/2024 22:55

Agree that Sophie's blazer is too long, but the colour palette is lovely on her and I like her radiance that really comes out in her photos.
I think that comes from a genuine interest in people and positivity from within.

Alternating diamonds and pearls might be nice. I think this week's stones are London blue topaz.

I like Sophie and Edward. They just quietly get on with things. You never hear anything controversial about them (just once, years ago, in Sophie's early days as a royal).
I'm so glad they got promoted to Duke/Duchess.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/04/2024 10:30

Queen Mary looks great wearing the emerald parure from the Crown Jewels. I just wish she had worn the brooch on her dress instead of the necklace as it's completely lost against that lace. Seems a rather strange choice given it's her first gala portrait as Queen, but then I suppose it's easy to forget to consider how things will actually look on a photo.

If it were me I would have taken mock photographs to check, as I'd want to be sure my first outing of the Crown Jewels was exactly right.

But she does look good.

Me too. They've both done (and continue to do) a sterling job.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/04/2024 10:32

Looking again there wouldn't have been room to wear the brooch so I can see why she didn't. But I do wish she'd have had a plain background to show off the necklace. You can hardly tell she's wearing it!

She chose the wrong dress style for her first Crown Jewels outing. She needed a the necklace against bare skin not lace but I think her priority was to look slim not to show off the jewels. She may well have been sewn into that dress!

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/04/2024 11:32

I agree. It's such a shame. It would definitely have been best against bare skin, but it also would have worked perfectly well with a plain panel (what's it called, my brain is scrambled this morning...cannot think of the word!! - see-through-ish).

Serenster · 25/04/2024 11:33

Yes to it being the wrong decision to wear the necklace - it’s stunning but you can barely see it! - but Mary looks fabulous in the emeralds.

She also has the pearl poiré and the oral and diamond suite of jewels to o with it, soe ruby and pearl pieces and the huge diamond suite at her disposal as part of the crown jewels I think. I wonder if Margrethe’s three-piece diamond tiara is also something she’ll get to wear now (or whether her mother in law is hanging on to that, as it seems to be her favourite tiara).

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/04/2024 11:37

@Serenster by three-piece tiara which one do you mean? If it's the one that's actually an aigrette, then that is at Mary's disposal now as it's one of the Crown Jewels, only to be worn by the current sitting Queen.

I think Margrethe will bring out some of her other tiaras now, the ones we haven't seen so often/in many years.

The Danish Floral Aigrette

The Danish Floral Aigrette (Photo: KELD NAVNTOFT/AFP/Getty Image)   It's a little hard to classify this piece of jewelry, because it's so many things at once: a tiara, a set of hair ornaments, a corsage ornament.

Ah, for some reason I thought that was a personal jewel of Margrethe! I will look forward to seeing how Mary uses that one. It’s diamonds will look stunning against her dark hair.
