Evening everyone. I'm starting this new thread at a bit of a sad time, and I know we're all thinking of Kate and her family. Let's hope that as we continue in our lighthearted way, good news arrives for her, and others who are in a similar situation, either themselves or loved ones.🌷

I expect Kate will be out of action for some time, perhaps most of the year. I would have thought she would want to be back to her usual self before she is back in the public eye. She may have significant weight and/or hair loss depending on the type of chemotherapy.
I hope she takes the time she needs and the press don't put pressure on her.

Love Charlene’s dress and would never have thought of this neckline for swimmers shoulders but it works so well.

Victoria looks so cute and I love the cut of Mary’s dress

Sorry Gingercat, that was insensitive of me to cross post but completely unintentional. I agree Kate should take all the time she needs with this illness: the emotional impact is as bad as the physical

No, not at all. It was probably me off theme

I almost didn’t recognise Max & Wax

It’s probably the most understated that Maxima has ever looked!

Maireas · 06/04/2024 16:34

True! 😂

Was passing a shop today that happened to have some Diana stamps in the window, from the Falkland Islands, of all places!

It’s interesting to see the evolution of her hair - she varied it but never grew it long. So few female royals and actresses have short hair these days - Charlene is quite unusual that way.

Yes, it's true about long hair. I can't think of any current royal, apart from Charlene who has had short hair, even in the extended family.

Even Sophie grew hers out. The comparisons at the time she got engaged to Edward must have sent them both up the wall.

RomainesToBeSeen · 06/04/2024 17:00

Especially for you both @Maireas and @Eaumyword. I'm not sure that even Diana could pull off the brown cord knickerbockers! 😊

Dear me, no! She did have a better pair, I'm sure, @RomainesToBeSeen !

Short hair was very in fashion in the early 1980s (Olivia Newton John in her Physical era, Sheena Easton, the Nolan sisters etc immediately spring to mind!) and so for a 19-20 year old at that time Diana’s hair was very trendy. And she definitely contributed to it staying trendy - there’s a great scene in Educating Rita, which came out in 1983, where a middle-aged woman comes into Julie Walter’s hair salon with a full-page magazine picture of Diana with her short layered haircut and says, somewhat optimistically, “I want to look like that”.🤣

(There’s all sorts of photoshopped and AI generated images of Diana with long hair now on Pinterest etc and it’s quite amazing how much she looks her actual age with long hair!)

Maireas · 06/04/2024 17:19

We all had short hair! It was modern (like Sheena Easton!). I went to university in 1978, the start of punk, and had my hair cut very short indeed, much to the horror of my mother. 😂

OP posts:
Maireas · 06/04/2024 18:28

Oh dear lord! She would not have let herself look like that!
"Get outta ma pub!"

OP posts:
gingercat02 · 06/04/2024 18:32

Dear Lord! Diana would never have looked like that, although I do fear she may have gone too heavy on the tweakments as I don't think ageing would have appealed.

Maireas · 06/04/2024 18:35

I agree. She'd definitely have gone for the fillers and Botox and would certainly have looked after her skin!

OP posts:
MaryFuckingFerguson · 06/04/2024 19:12

😂 at that AI of Diana! She’d only be, what, 62? She looks well into her 80s.

justasking111 · 06/04/2024 19:18

Diana was an awful sun worshipper though. I had a stunningly beautiful friend who was tall and willowy like Diana she loved the sun. It took its toll.

Catherine hasn't for years I notice.

Serenster · 06/04/2024 19:19

The idea that Diana would have looked like at in her early 60s is hilarious. She was a fan of sunbathing, but also would have access to great skincare, and so far as we know, wasn’t a smoker. These AI images are probably closer to the mark.

For comparison, here’s Sophie at Easter - at 59, she’s 3 years younger than Diana would be now.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 06/04/2024 19:59

Presumably, Diana wouldn’t still have that awful hairdo in 2024! 😂

Maireas · 06/04/2024 20:00

It would be short and definitely still blonde!

KillingMeDeftIy · 06/04/2024 20:01

Diana looked very like her mother so I imagine she would’ve looked much as Frances did towards the end of her life, but with a few more tweakments. And a better wardrobe!

Maireas · 06/04/2024 20:02

Yes, Frances was always a good looking woman.
