I'm edging towards the last spritzes of my beloved Elle by YSL perfume. Why they discontinued this glorious fragrance, I will never understand. Off to buy another overpriced bottle on eBay, I guess.

I'm also pissed off with Jo Malone for getting rid of her English Oak and Redcurrant scent. The candle and body lotion were the best.

Who will you never forgive for discontinuing your favourite?

Lush Agas conditioner was THE BEST for my blonde hair and I always got so many compliments/never had to get my hair toned.

benefit you rebel tinted moisturiser

Brannigans ham and mustard crisps.

Cadbury Spiras

loreal paradise tinted moisturiser

and soon enough I’ll be saying the body shop hemp hand cream and their lip balms

Hi
I have an ANCIENT tube of you rebel I think.. it's a bronzer in a bright red tube like a thick toothpaste tube? Do you want me to dig it out for you?

hangingonfordearlife1 · 16/03/2024 11:34

i was going to say ysl elle. first perfume my husband ever bought me and has been my signature scent for 20 years 🥲

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 16/03/2024 11:58

Original Source who make shower gel also used to make anti-perspirant which worked, smelled nice and didn't give me a nasty rash. I still miss it. I had to try a few different brands before I found Mitchum didn't give me a rash, but it doesn't smell as good.

I used to use Natio for Men sunscreen. It still exists but it's Australian and I can't get it in Ireland any more. I actually ended up with one that I like better, so I guess that's a positive, but I tried at least 12 others before I found this one, which took months (too shiny/dry/white/sticky or hurts the eyes etc). I use Isdin now.

TankFlyBoss · 16/03/2024 12:13

My number one is the monsoon perfume in a blue bottle with a copper colour spiral shape lid. It was amazing

Also XS Pour Elle

LADIES!!!

I mentioned lou lou blue earlier. I forgot I'd found a dupe website a few weeks ago and took a punt on their lou lou blue.

It arrived today!! I got the perfume oil - it's soooooo very close. Close enough I've just wafted my dregs of real lou lou blue and this oil under my DC nose (who is a fragrance connoisseur) and he gave it his stamp of approval.

Check out The Perfume People! If this dupe is anything to go off they will all be 👌

I've just ordered the EDP I'm that impressed!

Lancome Aroma Tonic Energising spray and body oil. Loved them both.

Lubatti’s Bergamot and grapefruit body lotion. Part of a skincare range by Tracey Malone (J Malone’s sis) based on Madame Lubatti’s original recipes from the 1920’s. Didn’t cost the earth and smelt so wonderful.

  • Lush 'Skinny Dip' shower gel - no other scent like it out there.
- Lush 'Red Rooster' soap
  • Cosmetics to Go back catalogue - all of it, but especially the lip cream in 'Dragon Blood' and 'Rusty Nail'; 'Smaragadine' shower gel; the Neroli range.
- Kiehl's 'Smoothing Oil Infused Conditioner' - only thing which has helped my bleach-battered hair. - Boots Natural Collection lip balms in Redcurrent and Sugar Plum.

and for food, M&S used to do a lemon and dark chocolate bar which was the absolute business.

Yes so did I

I still have a small bottle but it must have gone off by now

storagefilter · 16/03/2024 14:05

Clarins relax bubble bath and they did a lovely moisturiser too. They still do the relax oil but ditched the other 2.

Yes! I used this. Loved it. Lola smelled similar and they discontinued that, too.

BestIsWest · 16/03/2024 14:11

Laura Mercier La Lune perfume. I’ve never found a similar dupe. I treasure the last few squirts.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 16/03/2024 14:15

@TankFlyBoss I second that loss! One of my absolute favourites and the first my DH ever bought for me.

Texan bars, Pacer mints, Crawford’s box of biscuits (the one with the pink/white/brown icing in, always given to us by Auntie Elsie), Burton’s Piglets and Toffo mixed roll of toffees.

And the McVities Tunis Cake.

All sadly extinct.

HorribleHisTories15 · 16/03/2024 15:24

Tresemme hair tonic

Sunsilk leave in

Pantene curls (very old school)

suburburban · 16/03/2024 15:46

M&S used to make a professional salon standard shampoo and conditioner in mauve bottles that smelt of almonds and were really good.

John Frieda Funky Chunky

Yes, I was going to say this. I loved it and I'm not even blonde! It gave the perfect textured look and I've never found anything as good since.

Boysgrownbutstillathome · 16/03/2024 17:33

Avon - Absinthe by Christian lacroix. I loved it and was gutted when it was discontinued.
Also disappointing was when M&S stopped selling cocoa butter scented toiletries.

HorribleHisTories15 · 16/03/2024 18:28

@HorribleHisTories15 you can still buy the fragrance free mum deodorant in Superdrug, Savers, Bodycare and Sainsbury's. Not sure if it's still in a glass bottle though. 😀

Clinique hydroblur. The greatest moisturiser ever.

Oh and Soap and Glory Mighty Mouth lip balm.

Any use to you Lou Lou Perfume by Cacharel | FragranceX.com

Never used the site, so don't know if they are reliable, sorry

Athena51 · 16/03/2024 19:03

I loved Prescriptives, I was "blue red" on their colour coding and they actually had a foundation pale and pink enough for my skin.

I wore Acqua di Gio for Women in the mid 90s onwards and loved it.

Clinique have a habit of discontinuing all my favourite lipstick colours and formulations.

EcstaticMarmalade · 16/03/2024 19:18

For snacks I would say Texan Bars and Ranchero crisps

BecauseOfTheRain · 16/03/2024 19:20

Cosmetics to go and the joy of reading their catalogue.
Nutralia shampoo by Laboratoire Garnier was amazing, it cleaned my fine hair beautifully and never irritated my sensitive scalp. It also smelt wonderful.
Benefit's babecake solid eyeliner and get bent brush, I always got a perfect smudge proof line and the liner (which was half black & half brown) lasted a decade. I miss it terribly.
More recently I was devastated about the closing down of Merumaya and their excellent Melting Cleansing Balm. Nothing is as good (Elemis is a poor alternative but the only option for me so far)!
