help me decide between bags

I don't know if anyone is still up but can you help me choose between these tote bags (or help me find a better option) must be

  1. leather
  2. able to wear over one shoulder
  3. traditional leather colours - black or brown although I could go to oxblood

The style I am / am aiming for is a bit of a cross between classic country and boho chic

current shortlist - Aspinal London tote - large in woven tan or burnt orange

https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/aspinal-of-london-london-large-leather-tote-bag_R04264085/#colour=ORANGE

or Aspinal Regency tote in tan or orange

thanks

Like the look of them both but the strap on the first one doesn’t look big enough to comfortably sit on your shoulder if that’s how you want to wear it

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/03/2024 01:09

it's a good point I was worried about that

I can find this photo of the regency as a shoulder bag which is what I have in mind as to how to wear it.

I’m just here for the “I can’t believe you’re spending £X on a bag” posts 😉

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/03/2024 01:15

conjunction of annual bonus and mother's day :-)

I’d say the first is the most on-trend at the moment, but this means it will date more than the other two, which are more classic. So it depends on how long you are likely to use it.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/03/2024 01:21

that makes sense, I'm more aiming for timeless rather than on-trend and would (hopefully) be using it for decades.

currently veering towards the zip top regency in tan or orange I think

I like the second one (in the orange) because I like the pebbled leather (if you are someone like me who is hard on their bags. I can just see getting a mark or a scratch on that last one on the first day I wore it).

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/03/2024 01:43

I like the texture of pebbled leather too.

Thanks guys decision made I think, goodnight and happy mothers day.

I like the third one, looks lush!
well, they all do really

GreatGateauxsby · 10/03/2024 04:31

First isby far the nicest.
Disagree weaved leather dates. I have some stuff sinilar to this from 8 years ago.

I was going to say at that price you can afford a ysl totebut apparently its DOUBLED in price since i bought it for£550 😱

The first bag in orange with blue lining is awesome!

Can you get anywhere to try it on?

Nearlyadoctor · 10/03/2024 07:24

Recently bought a Coach Willow Tote which is lovely, very comfy on the shoulder.

Even if they were the same price the YSL one looks significantly lower quality, the obvious issues standing out are no lining and no feet.

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk I think the first one is lovely, I like the woven texture of the brown one but prefer the orange colour.

willsandnoodle · 10/03/2024 07:31

I'm always put off these structured bags, as even though they're lovely I imagine they'd get bashed and scraped long term. What about a more slouchy leather style? That would get better with age and meet your boho criteria.

I'm clumsy and don't manage to take care of anything I own for too long, so that's from my perspective

GreatGateauxsby · 10/03/2024 08:37

@Fabricwitch no arguement there. I likenit but its no neverfull

I like the coach one linked.

Also worth looking at la furla or coccienelle maybe?

Ankor · 10/03/2024 08:58

I prefer the third one. The first 2 don't have staps long enough to be comfortable on your shoulder and I think the first one just looks bulky and like a big shopper.

ShopoholicIn · 10/03/2024 09:24

I like the third one.

Imfreetofeelgood · 10/03/2024 09:26

The bridge one is lovely - and 25% off!

RomeoRivers · 10/03/2024 09:39

No.2 👌

BlueLimeRun · 10/03/2024 09:41

No 2. Love the shape.

DilemmaDelilah · 10/03/2024 09:47

I prefer the third one, but I do like the way the other two have separate compartments inside. I don't like orange....

ColourByNumbers88 · 10/03/2024 10:06

I prefer the versatility of the bridge.
