What to wear to Taylor Swift?

Going to Taylor Swift in June with my daughters. What shall I wear? I’m in my early 50s, size 12. The only thing I’m certain of is that I really want to wear cowboy boots!! Outfit ideas please - the only thing I really can’t wear I think is frills!

Ah this all sounds like so much fun. If I had a daughter (I don’t) and I was a fan of Taylor (I think she’s great but not a fan of the music) then I would totally dress up. Have a blast OP!

Discorisco · 03/03/2024 22:51

OP I salute you as dressing up is a huge part of the fun of attending. I dressed up for Harry styles last year and if I was lucky enough to have TS tickets I would be all over it! It's one of the few times you will be part of 1000's of other people all dressed up in homage to an artist they adore. I would go folklore!

Foxlover46 · 03/03/2024 22:51

People
Do notice though at concerts!
What you wear represents the band / singer a lot of the time , I mean swifties will represent a era for her tour and the other fans will know and love it , when I go to Machine gun Kelly we fans do the same , we either wear rocky type fishnet , leather, chains, chunky boots etc some of us wear pink to represent the pink era etc
Real fans absolutely do notice as dressing is all part of the experience

Deargodletitgo · 03/03/2024 23:02

Ok, thinking Red era (easy) or early Taylor and all cottage core and cowboy hat

I go to gigs all the time but it's EDM raves so it's all bikini tops, sheer black and black cargos and trainers. And yes, I'm 50

Workingmytickettoparadise · 03/03/2024 23:17

She will have a new album out by June so there is another era to choose from!

upanddowns · 03/03/2024 23:20

I'm going with dd 17, no idea what I'm going to wear yet, I'm late fifties and overweight, was thinking denim skirt and a tshirt, but they're all crew neck and don't suit me. Has to be trainers for comfort. Dd doesn't know what she's wearing yet. Loved the yellow strap dress above but not in that colour, has anyone seen similar in different colours?

NeverTalksToStrangers2 · 03/03/2024 23:26

It came in different colours. Click on the link.

CheapThrillsMeanNothing · 03/03/2024 23:28

I was tempted to say ear defenders.
Seriously I would wear something you feel special in but is also fairly comfortable and ENJOY a great night.

@NoOrdinaryMorning why do you have to be so rude? Are people allowed to have fun and enjoy themselves? so miserable.

no advice for OP just so jealous you have tickets! Have fun! 🤩

fluffycatkins · 03/03/2024 23:36

Presumably you're an adult?! Why on earth are you dressing up?!

For the same reason that people dress up for a wide variety of different functions, it is the dress code for this event. Surely this is possible to understand?

Anyway OP I would do a google search of eras to work out what appeals to you.

I took my dd and her friend and wore black shorts, sparkly red top, dm and snake 🐍 jewelry.

Everyone of every age dresses up, be fabulous and enjoy it.

Oncetwicethreetimesalady · 03/03/2024 23:42

I’m going to Liverpool with dd. I’m in the process of losing weight (1 stone down so far) and hoping I’ll be slimmer and can enjoy dressing up that bit more by then so not made a real plan yet.
I do know that I want to wear something I couldn’t wear on an ordinary day so not jeans or everyday dress. Comfort is v important to me, can’t stand any scratchy sequins or high heels. And it’s June so could be quite warm or also freezing/raining so that needs to be taken into account too.
Probably a long dress will be my starting point, I can sew ok so I will look for something to customise.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 03/03/2024 23:44

oooh what a lovely thread - I mean it !

My dd is going ( on her own ) she is wearing pink sparkly cowboy boots ( she has a seated ticket and has ' worn in ' the boots so ought to be ok, otherwise she can take them off ! ) a pink sparkly cowboy hat ( don't suppose that will stay on for long ) demin shorts and a pink cowboy-ish tee shirt.

Yes it's June and hopefully it's a warm dry day, I think she needs a top for when the chill sets in - what do ' we ' think ? any suggestions. Please.

and yes for those that are asking why dress up, I sat thru the whole film when it came out before Xmas and of course you see the audience for the concert/s and yes lots of people ' dress up '

DD is excited and so happy to have got a ticket, she did see T.S. several years ago at the O2, tickets in those days were a completely different price and so much easier to buy. Unlike this time !

EmmaEmerald · 03/03/2024 23:46

@NoOrdinaryMorning are adults in your world not allowed to dress up?

TeenLifeMum · 03/03/2024 23:46

@NoOrdinaryMorning I’m sorry for you that you feel you can’t dress up just because you’re an adult. They have loads of 80s parties and similar round here where lots of people ages 30-70 dress up, dance and have a blast. I get it’s not everyone’s thing but can you not comprehend that some people might like to have fun in different ways to you?

NeverTalksToStrangers2 · 03/03/2024 23:48

I think every morning is probably very ordinary for some people.

EmmaEmerald · 03/03/2024 23:50

@OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon I’d want a cape for when it gets cold. 😂

seriously I just realised…the small bag rule will mean layers of outfit are helpful, no stuffing an old cardigan into your bag -no I couldn’t resist

but mixing eras could help on a practical level too.

Bigtrip2026 · 04/03/2024 02:33

Thank you for posting this, I'm in the same boat. I'm late 50s and going with younger niece and her friend and my older sister. Don't think I will be in the jazzy outfits, it will be more about the comfort but still want to lean into it a bit. Can't wait !!

4kids2cats · 04/03/2024 06:27

Gosh glad I went to bed and missed all the meanies!! And yes my daughters and I love an excuse to dress up - spent the summer dressing up for the cinema so make of that what you will!
Thank you so much for all the great replies - and I had no idea cowboy boots were uncomfortable 😳 Maybe I’ll see if I can find some comfy ones!
Must get ready for work - looking forward to reading and replying more this evening xxx

I see you've posted on Style and Beauty before @NoOrdinaryMorning. Asking for advice. Nobody told you to not bother.

Why have you posted that? Why not just be a decent person and leave the thread. If you don’t understand why people want to dress up then leave the thread. People dress up for all sorts of reasons including going to a concert. It’s not difficult to understand. I am not a swiftie but even I get the outfits for her concerts.

honestly, have a word with yourself and be a better person.

AlwaysGinPlease · 04/03/2024 09:01

@NoOrdinaryMorning go and piss on your own chips will you. You're being rude and just embarrassing yourself. If you can't play nicely with others, then don't play at all.

Flatleak · 03/03/2024 22:43

Well yes but shein is literally the worst of the worst. Please don't support such a company.

Seconding this. Dressing up if you want is fine but buying a load of one wear landfill tat produced in appalling working conditions isn't.
