Communal changing rooms in places like Miss Selfridge. So glad that these, to my knowledge, don’t exist any longer.

Brightly coloured tights
Huge plastic earrings

LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/02/2024 20:24

Perms, it really says something that they never came back 'in' again.

DelilahBucket · 24/02/2024 20:27

Hair mascara
Adidas poppers
Gypsy (I think they were called) elasticated neck tops that you were supposed to be worn on the arms but never stayed put unless you were completely still
The tiny claw clips that were used for holding back little wound round sections of the hair at the front
Also those spinny diamante things for hair

RockyRogue1001 · 24/02/2024 20:27

Pixie boots!

@Chrispackhamspoodle, I used to love a wonderbra.... small, pointing-outwards breasts. They were a miracle for me!

GettingStuffed · 24/02/2024 20:39

I'm a bit older than most of you, very few items of clothing stay out of fashion for long.

I can't wait for ski pants ( like leggings with elastic under the foot,) and pedal pushers to come back so I can laugh at people who think they're cool in them. Like older people did when we wore them.

Nothingbuttheglory · 24/02/2024 20:19

You've described me 2000-2001. I felt great in that get up 😂😂😂

Haha! That was the era of my prime too but I'm glad it's gone! 😅

BCBird · 24/02/2024 20:55

Ha ha shell suit Drcoconut🙄😆

pictoosh · 24/02/2024 20:55

Cold shoulder tops. They were all the rage weren't they? Awful.

A boon during mass vaccinations, though.

Oh heck, I loved my Pixie boots. I had several pairs. I also have extremely skinny ankles, so filled the gap with leg warmers . God, please don’t ever bring those back 😱

Bermuda shorts were a low point.

Bermuda shorts are great! I wear them. (Or, shorts I would characterise in that way, not quite the style of the ones shown as wikipedia examples.)

As a woman who finds most shorts intended for women far too short, they were a revelation! I do have some shorts which are shorter than bermudas, maybe mid-thigh, but it depends on the weather.

HarrietSchulenberg · 24/02/2024 21:13

As someone who never stopped wearing dresses over trousers I'm pleased I will be slightly fashionable for a week or two.
I've lived long enough to know that fashion is a fickle boomerang but fervently hope that white stilettos remain in 80s Essex disco land where they belong.

LondonTraveller · 24/02/2024 21:18

All fashion between 1999 and 2010.

Pedal pushers, skorts, capri pants, triple denim, micro minis with jeans, those butterfly halter tops, cargo pants, those massive circular belts, cowboy boots, waist coats, those kangol hats, velour tracksuits.

SomersetTart · 24/02/2024 21:35

Not strictly fashion and definitely showing my age............sanitary towel belts.

LamonicBibber1 · 24/02/2024 21:36

I used to wear this denim mini skirt, where the denim part was SO tiny- just covered bumcheek- and then it had a short layer of frilly pink ruffles. I thought I was the shit 😁 Often worn with these weird fake Uggs which were knee high and fastened with silky ribbons. I hope those don't come back.

I also had a rather fetching vest top which said "P0RNST4R" which I rather delightfully was allowed to wear before I was even 16. Lovely.

And massive wide jeans that soaked up rain to the knee, and huge wide skate trainers. Pedal pushers were also a bad time for me in my puppy fat era.

A very short see-through white linen dress with all sorts of weird ruffles, I used to wear it with black underwear, save me now.

Very wide pleather belt worn low around the hips was a borderline criminal offence to the eyes 😅 with skintight flared jeans and some sort of ugly ruched layered stringy weird top, purchased from the local shopping centre whilst buzzing on frappucinos..

New rock boots and dirty ripped army jacket, loads of chains hanging from every part of me, bondage trousers, (I spanned a lot of styles, god I'm so boring now 😅)

Loved my pixie boots!

Aworldofmyown · 24/02/2024 21:41

Thongs with large brooch like jewels that sat above your arse crack.

mathanxiety · 24/02/2024 21:46

All the clothes and hair fashions from the 80s. What a low point.

You’re post took me back to my childhood 😭 I loved all of these things!

I snorted when I read this!

I got my belly button pierced when I was 15 and had a playboy bunny shaped bar, and showed it off wearing a cropped t shirt which had ‘cocaine’ written on in the style of the Coca Cola logo.. WHICH MY DAD BOUGHT ME. What were our parents thinking??

heyhohello · 24/02/2024 21:50

80s wild, frizzy, sticky out, crunchy hair. Or maybe I wish it would come back as it would make my life easier! 😂

JaneIves · 24/02/2024 21:51

Puffball skirts.
And anything peplum.

Perms are back In, but not the tight, poodle style.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 24/02/2024 21:53

What about white tassel boots in the '80s with beads on. I wore mine to death. Must have looked ridiculous with my pipe cleaner legs

LamonicBibber1 · 24/02/2024 21:54

@Naptrappedmummy 😅😅 I know exactly what top you mean, pretty sure one of my mates also had it 😅

BCBird · 24/02/2024 21:56

I still wear bright tights🙄 think the perm.is making a come back🤣
