I'll be wearing with trainers or sandals - low ones.

Too short?

I think the length is fine.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 22/02/2024 22:39

too short

CharlotteBog · 22/02/2024 22:42

I've ordered the Long to collect on Sunday. Suspect they might more than hit the floor. If so, what's best - too long or short?

They do look too short, yes. I suppose you could take them up if too long.

Not what you asked, but I don't find them especially flattering.

stickybear · 22/02/2024 23:17

Ooh are these from M&S? I've had the same ones in my shopping basket all week and had noticed a lot of the reviews comment on them being too short! I like them on you but can see what you mean. They're not quite short enough to look cropped but not long enough for full length either

That's OK, you're being honest. They are very, very comfortable.
I'm going to a conference in India in a week or so and most of my very warm clothes are suitable for summer holidays rather than presenting to 200 people!

It's academic so not formal.
I don't have time to shop apart from this Sunday for a couple of hours.

Yes, M&S. I'm 5'8" and these are regular so I'm surprised people are saying they're too short.
I think cropped wide leg wouldn't look good on me - more like they're just too short rather than intended. Fitted crops look OK.

They're too long ,need to be slightly shorter, they just look the wrong length imo as they're neither one thing or another.

CharlotteBog · 22/02/2024 23:59

What's not flattering about them, and what style would be better for my remit?

Interesting. I don't think they're meant to be cropped.

I think the length is perfect! Will be great to wear with flats/trainers or heeled loafers.

Interesting how views on the length vary! Years ago I saw this image (you may need to tap to see trouser length) and was rather impressed, despite the ‘neither here nor there’ point at which they ended. They’re pretty much the length yours are now.

Too short?
BlossomBlossomBlossom · 23/02/2024 03:50

Couple of years ago I got these from Raey @ Matches - the cropped length is perfect and I now can’t imagine wearing this type of trouser with the hem pooling on the ground. Both impractical and kind of missing the point of the look.

So I’d probably make yours a touch shorter …

OP I think they look great - stylishly loose without swamping you and the length is just right too I think. Shorter would be flappy and longer would be messy/dragging on the ground/tripping you up.
Have a great conference!

I love these too- they look narrower at the hem than the M&S ones though. Must be a bit tapered by the button cos they're not flappy.

isthismylifenow · 23/02/2024 05:07

To me this length is perfect. But I do wear flatform type shoes as I don't have the height that you do.

But I don't like the longer length that touches the ground generally. First they get all mucky and secondly I tend to trip over them.

Sandals with these will look great too.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 23/02/2024 05:12

They are tapered by the button, @Userxyd- but the cotton is so very sturdy they don’t flap even without it.

Userxyd · 23/02/2024 05:13

I love them - just on that site now in fact. How does their sizing come up?

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 23/02/2024 05:17

Raey?

Vast.

OverTheGrip · 23/02/2024 05:19

Too short.
There’s a massive gap between the door and the floor

Regular is for average height and you're taller than average, so it's understandable they're coming up short for you.

isthismylifenow · 23/02/2024 07:22

I have just look at the photo again on a bigger screen. I do think they are a bit too short now.

It looks like you were in the shop trying on though? I would definitely try the longer length. I do not know too much about lyocell fabric, but consider if this is prone to a bit of shrinkage.

I have a cotton/linen blend similar and they did shrink slightly on first wash (cold).

CharlotteBog · 23/02/2024 07:24

@LightSwerve I rarely get Long in M&S.
I think the L might drag on the floor, but we will see.

You can always take them up a bit though if they are slightly too long.
