WTF - Horseshoe Jeans

I’m still not over how bad Mom jeans look on most people. I accept skinny jeans are over, I am happy in my straight legged jeans. But all over my instagram feed are these new ‘horseshoe’ jeans. That basically make you look like you have bandy legs? Just why?

I know I don’t have to wear them I am just despairing of all these awful jeans trends.

I do love a flare. I shall stick with that.

Googling these is the best laugh I’ve had all week 🤣

I looked at this picture too many times. 😃

When I first looked at it, I thought the model had her knees bent. Then I looked again and decided she was standing up straight. Then next time, I saw bent knees again.

I think this one will be a short-lived fashion item. There will be a few about in the charity shops before too long. There is just so much fabric in the wrong areas.

I have a couple of pairs of these barrel/horseshoe jeans and I love that they are so divisive! Means I must be doing something right 😂😂 the silhouette works on me and I quite like the costumey, romantic-y edge to them. Just feel fresh and cool in them. I expect the haters also hated skinny jeans when they came out and will find themselves wearing them in the next 5 years or so when they’ve trickled down to supermarket fashion

littlestrawberryhat · 22/02/2024 08:37

Also, skinny jeans only look ok if you’re tall and thin! I see so many middle aged apple shaped women wearing them I wonder if they know how they look from the back. Just ghastly.

I doubt this trend will still be around in 5 years.

It is great that they look good on you, are you very tall? But this style will only suit some, not most. Unlike skinny jeans which suit various shapes and heights. This is part of why they are such staples in many wardrobes.

Not necessarily - I hated skinny jeans when they first arrived on the scene, have never owned a pair, and still don't like them.

Pigglyplaystruant99 · 22/02/2024 08:57

If I was 5'9 or over then maybe I'd get away with them. At 5'3 - no thanks. Skinnies are a classic and I don't care what anyone else thinks.

Pigglyplaystruant99 · 22/02/2024 09:01

It's not that long ago that men were wearing jeans that hung down as if they were wearing a nappy and exposing their bum cracks. Just another passing fad!

NonPlayerCharacter · 22/02/2024 09:03

I can absolutely see why people are taking the piss, but I wonder if these might work on very broad hips by kind of hiding just how far out they go, and completely hiding the shape of fat legs. Probably not, but I'm going to have to give it a try. I think by this stage I'd rather look like I've got rickets than like I'm about to be sent on my maiden voyage.

Notalwaysthismean · 22/02/2024 09:08

I have bandy legs anyway. Normal wide leg jeans look like that on me……I can’t imagine what I’d look like in those 🤣 Maybe like I was walking around in a permanent plié.

AggressiveCub · 22/02/2024 10:13

could get them for fancy dress, if you wanted to go as a clown😂

God that's not passed sadly.

A young guy walking in front of me the other day with his (pant clad) buttocks clean out and sitting on top of his waistband Confused Still see it a lot.

I so want to go and hoike them up. (or commiserate them about their brother in jail who's had their belt taken off them. Which is how it started apparently - a show of solidarity)

3luckystars · 22/02/2024 11:34

Clown pants!!!

OMG it’s like the Emperors New Clothes. They are a joke.

Newsenmum · 22/02/2024 11:59

I think it’s one of those where you have to be so slim and gorgeous you look good in anything. And then you look extra good as can somehow rock these very weird jeans! In with you.

It looks so bad and they always have the worst pants! 🤢

HolidaySwears · 22/02/2024 13:42

Thats just... baggy skater jeans but way too short for you? Hoisties we used to call too small trousers in school.

I can't believe Hoisty skater jeans are a thing now.

minipie · 22/02/2024 14:14

I suspect I would get a lot of “Howdy pardner!”

Especially from DH

TheLeadbetterLife · 22/02/2024 15:07

I quite like them, though I've not tried them on myself so not sure if they'd suit.

These kinds of silhouettes are popular in East Asia, we're just not used to them in the West. When you think about it, they're no odder than flares or balloon sleeves or any other arbitrary shape.

3luckystars · 22/02/2024 16:09

It’s like they are trying to FORCE out skinny jeans and nobody wants to let them go.

They will be back in again before we know it. It feels like they will come up with anything now other than skinny jeans!!

We are not clowns!!! 😂Keep trying.

Middleagedspreadisreal · 22/02/2024 17:52

I didn't know skinny jeans were over. Oh dear, that makes me over too.
Hey ho.

Londongirlx · 22/02/2024 18:06

Not a good look on someone who is 4ft and a fag end

Alwaysgoingforit · 22/02/2024 18:09

They look awful, can't imagine anyone looks good in these, what a daft design, wouldn't be seen dead in something so hideous.

threatmatrix · 22/02/2024 18:20

Had to look them up as didn’t know what they were 😂😂😂 I can’t stop laughing. Surely they are for clowns.

Greenshed · 22/02/2024 18:30

I had to look them up, too.
What a ridiculous looking style.

ancienticecream · 22/02/2024 19:39

I wore too many baggy jeans in my teens to entertain the idea of wearing them now. I hate the combo of red and black for the same reason.
