Could I get away with this for a summer wedding (guest)?

Looking at the green & white option - from a shop called Wild Clouds which I think was a recommendation on a thread here a while back. Jumpsuit

I think the wedding will be quite smart, but I'm very much there as a plus one. It's DP's niece, & while I like her & fiancé very much, she was an adult when we got together, so I don't know them well.

Unhelpfully, I have a very nice summer party wear jumpsuit that would be just the ticket, but it's got a black background, & really not wedding appropriate. I don't go to that many smart dos, so would ideally like to find something that would be wearable as a more everyday option in the future.

As a fallback, I do have a rather dated but definitely wedding-appropriate dress that I could wear, from when I was an age when lots of my friends & relations were getting married. DP really doesn't like it though - I think probably because I (a) rarely wear smart clothes, and (b) almost never wear dresses. Not that he ever objects to my outfits, but since I'm going as his plus one, I'd quite like to wear something which didn't weird him out Grin

Should say, I'm early 50s, 5'2", relatively slim & very straight up & down build.

How would you accessorise it?

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 03/02/2024 15:14

Looks quite casual to me.

StarlightLime · 03/02/2024 15:15

No.

StarlightLime · 03/02/2024 15:15

It looks like pyjamas.

MadamVastra · 03/02/2024 15:16

Are you taking the piss? 😂

Mangolover123 · 03/02/2024 15:16

Looks like PJs, so a no from me.

Doppelgangers · 03/02/2024 15:16

If I'm being honest my first though was it looks like a pair of Pyjamas.Hmm

I definitely don't think it's suitable for a wedding.

Flat silver sandals & nice earrings. I don't wear makeup or jewellery other than earrings, so can't really do much in that line.

I think I would describe that as a boiler suit rather than a jumpsuit?

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 03/02/2024 15:17

Sorry would say no for a wedding; it looks like Pjs on their site

Fair enough - sorry, probably not really clear on the difference

No.

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 03/02/2024 15:18

Agree it's more a boiler suit than a jumpsuit, but it also looks like pjs.

Sadik · 03/02/2024 15:18

Other suggestions welcome - it needs to be cotton or other natural material, & really if at all possible from a non-sweatshop source.

freshgreen · 03/02/2024 15:19

No
Looks like PJ's
And I'm normally one for none judgement on clothes

Sadik · 03/02/2024 15:19

Otherwise it'll have to be the very dated all-purpose wedding guest dress!

Moveoverdarlin · 03/02/2024 15:19

I like it, but it does look very pyjama-y. More suitable for a nice bbq, not a wedding.

LocalHobo · 03/02/2024 15:20

I think the wedding will be quite smart, but I'm very much there as a plus one.
I think, if you feel this way, it would be wiser not to make a statement with such a casual outfit. Your very wedding appropriate dress sounds fine, or spend your pyjama budget on a nice summer dress.

mathanxiety · 03/02/2024 15:20

It looks like adult oneself pajamas.

Sadik · 03/02/2024 15:21

Don't want to buy a new summer dress, as I literally won't ever wear it again.

There's about a million options in between a PJ looking boiler suit and the dated dress surely?

If you're looking to throw away £80 on a new outfit surely you'd be better going round some shops and having a look for something suitable in person?

Sadik · 03/02/2024 15:22

Message received and understood by the way. I've been to plenty of weddings recently, but my social circle is such that literally any outfit would be completely welcome & appropriate.

"If you're looking to throw away £80 on a new outfit surely you'd be better going round some shops and having a look for something suitable in person?"

I live in very rural Wales, so there aren't any nearby shopping options unhelpfully. (Like, if I drive 50 miles, I get to Carmarthen. Believe me, Carmarthen is not a helpful place in which to buy clothes.)

I'm going to swim against the tide here and say that I think it would be absolutely fine for a wedding and I really like it!
