Leggings - where are your favourites from and what do you wear them with?

Hurray, leggings are socially acceptable / ‘in fashion’ again. I’m sure some people will continue to think they’re stupid ugly, lazy, terrible etc, but as a woman with a very active toddler and on mat leave with a baby, I’m delighted.

My current leggings are getting pretty worn, and I’d like to get some new ones that look good - and ideally make my bum look good too.

What are your favourites? And ideally could you also tell me what you wear them with (and where from)?

FYI, I’m about 5ft, size 14, and have totally lost any sense of ‘personal style’ over the last few years of babies, covid and gaining and then losing about 10kg.

(Feeling demoralised about clothes. I have a wardrobe full of them and I don’t feel that any of them fit or suit me, or they’re too summery or too workwear-y. I just want nice clothes to wear everyday - ideally ones that don’t break the bank given that SMP is shit)

Could have written your post OP, so I'll follow for some recommendations too! I think I want some black ribbed leggings, but I'm nervous of them being see-through and haven't seen any in any shops to try on.

Mine are all from Bamboo. I wear them with long sleeve close fitting tops or high neck vests / polos and checked shirts.

ASwimADay · 31/01/2024 19:16

I see lots of people wearing leggings with chunky trainers and white socks pulled up to the ankle. Wish I could carry this off but my chunky calves just make me look like a footballer unfortunately.

My favourite leggings are from next - quite a thick material and thicker waistband. They are from the petite range but I’ve had them 2yrs. I only wear those for work, my favourite walking leggings are the ones from primark with the fleece lining.

Startyabastard · 31/01/2024 19:27

Marks and Spencer's high rise leggings. If I don't choose high rise, mine sag unfortunately and these are brilliant.

Weelegs29 · 31/01/2024 19:27

My favourites are the Very confident curve leggings. Come in petite too which is perfect for me at 5ft. Nice thick waistband to hold you in but doesn't dig in or roll down, no baggy knees and not see through!

Catmama123 · 31/01/2024 19:31

After a thread on here I bought some everyday high waisted ones from 'LOVALL' they are amazing, thick and can't see through them at all even when bent right over 😂

MissKittyFantastico84 · 31/01/2024 19:32

For right now, I have Uniqlo Heat Tech (ultra warm?) Black leggings and they are amazing. Really thick and warm and comfy. I don't want to take them off.

Adanola / Sweaty Betty

I have been pleasantly surprised by a pair of thick high rise leggings I bought in Primark a few months ago to wear while helping DS move house. I was planning to donate them straight to the charity shop if they survived the ordeal! They survived and have stayed in my wardrobe 😂

White stuff leggings, I’ve had for years, excellent quality. Whether or not the quality is consistent now remains to be seen, I’m about to order now.

FlyingUnicornWings · 31/01/2024 19:51

Another vote for lovall!

Switcher · 31/01/2024 19:53

I love Sweaty Betty leggings. Can get good condition ones from vinted for not too much of you save the search.

APurpleSquirrel · 31/01/2024 19:55

TU's Luxury soft touch leggings are good & don't go see-through & are £10 ea.

MysticalMegx · 31/01/2024 20:01

Hold on... I've never heard of sweaty Betty just looked on their website. £90 for a pair of leggings?! 😲

usernother · 31/01/2024 20:03

Sweaty Betty and lulu lemon. So comfortable and soft. Worth every penny.

I know - it's extortionate, but they are brilliant. And they last forever! I've got multiple pairs and pretty much live in them, they've been washing and worn so many times and even my oldest ones are still going strong.

MKeegs · 31/01/2024 20:05

River island ones are my go too

GlasgowGal82 · 31/01/2024 20:30

I've just bought a pair of Bamboo Clothing leggings in the sale and they are by far the most comfortable piece of clothing I've ever worn! I have loads of pairs of leggings from different places, but these really stand out because they are buttery soft and really stretchy without having an obviously elasticated waist that can sometimes dig in. They are not the warmest though so I wouldn't want to be hanging about outside in them at the moment, but come spring I will be wearing them loads. For something a bit warmer I'd recommend CRZ yoga thermal fleece lined leggings which you can buy on amazon.

cailingaelach · 31/01/2024 20:36

I wear Sweaty Betty a lot but recently discovered Glowmode from Shein, they're my favourite by far now.

ErnestCelendine · 31/01/2024 20:36

Primark fleece lined leggings are the ones!

WhereAreWeNow · 31/01/2024 20:37

What are you all wearing your leggings with? I wear leggings for running and the gym but not for anything else. I can't think what I'd wear them with other than gym gear.

drspouse · 31/01/2024 20:41

Love Leggings - thick and hard wearing.
