I've been asked this and I'm not happy about giving my answer ... Would you wear these to your own wedding?

I wouldn't wear them but if someone else wants to does it matter?

NCfor24 · 28/01/2024 14:46

If they aren't on show and she finds them comfy then it's like a little in joke for her and husband.
Would I wear them? Nope. They're awful. But each to their own. I've married so many people (celebrant not serial bride) and honestly they wouldn't be the worst shoes I've seen, but they make the top (bottom?) 5!

DillDanding · 28/01/2024 14:47

Perfect for a chavvy hen weekend in Blackpool.

Luckingfovely · 28/01/2024 14:47

Good grief!

I bow in the face of ultimate tackery!

To achieve such heights of grossness in one pair of shoes takes some doing.

I award the bride Queen Of All That Is Tacky.

I am agog.

I detest the term ‘wifey for lifey’. It’s said by those who believe becoming someone’s wife is an achievement that elevates them above single / unmarried women. It’s very ‘TOWIE’.

I don’t think the ones shown are Sophie Webster; they look like a ‘off the market’ bad rip off.

Regardless, they’re hideous.

It really doesn't.

I'm trying to stop myself making subjective views objective statements. I really don't like those shoes. I'd never wear something like that. It's not my mindset at all but that doesn't objectively make them awful.

urbanbuddha · 28/01/2024 14:50

Well, I wouldn’t wear them but they made me smile, laugh even. So not all bad.

Wifey for Lifey

These are heeled version with slightly different wording. From Harrods. Reverse search brings up plenty of examples of this sandal but out of stock.

This is Sophia Webster link

Wifey for Lifey

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 28/01/2024 14:53

I wouldn't but if the bride wants to go for it!

tara66 · 28/01/2024 14:55

No - and again NO!

nc22124 · 28/01/2024 14:55

When I got married I had some of these shoe clips that said 'Mrs [husband's initial]' on them: https://charlottemills.com/blogs/latest/charlotte-mills-shoe-clips?utmsource=google&utmmmedium=cpc&utmcampaign=&utmmcontent=&utmterm=&utmmnetwork=x&utmdevice=m&utmmterm=. It was just a bit of fun (esp as 8 years later I still haven't actually changed my name!) and quite subtle as the writing was small and they were covered by my dress. People see a flash of the shoe and it brings a bit of humour to proceedings.

That said these particular shoes are too flat for my taste, the wifey for lifey badges look too big and the phrase 'wifey for lifey' itself is quite cringe...

PaulCostinRIP · 28/01/2024 14:58

Wifey for lifey.

Hideous.

fatphalange · 28/01/2024 14:59

They are wonderfully tacky. Which is the point. In an 'in the know' kind of way.

No I wouldn't personally wear them. But they are fab.

DelilahBucket · 28/01/2024 15:01

Crikey no, you couldn't pay me to wear those.

caringcarer · 28/01/2024 15:02

CherryRipe1 · 28/01/2024 14:09

Gawjuss! 😅

Don't look very comfortable to me.

Bbq1 · 28/01/2024 15:04

Yuck. Vile
So, so tacky. I have a certain image of the type in woman that would wear those...

StaunchMomma · 28/01/2024 15:09

They are VILE!

AuntieMarys · 28/01/2024 15:09

Nasty

forgivingfiggy · 28/01/2024 15:09

I presumed they were ironic. And maybe 'cool' 7 years ago. A bit hard to pull off, and they also aren't very nice. I don't really like statement shoes anyway. Blue and red shoes were the fashion when I got married and I dabbled with the notion, but now I'm glad I just got a pair of wedding shoes.

PossumintheHouse · 28/01/2024 15:10

Fucking hideous. Bet they cost a fortune as well.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 28/01/2024 15:13

...retailed at £460

Blimey! I would have said they were cheap shoes from Poundland😆

NotDeliciouslyElla · 28/01/2024 15:15

No

DisforDarkChocolate · 28/01/2024 15:15

Hell no!

I'll admit I have a tendency towards fun clothing but they are hideous.

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 28/01/2024 15:16

Fuck no.

Moonlightdust · 28/01/2024 15:25

🤢
