What trainers for 2024?

My Vejas look so dated now. What’s in for 2024? I’m a mum who dressed casually, looking for a staple everyday trainer.
Is big and chunky and white still in? I don’t want to get coloured trainers, though they seem to be in right now, as my wardrobe is neutral. Help! Please share your faves and what makes you’re coveting! I’ll share some links below, too

I find it a bit wasteful that's all, but if it makes you happy, then you do you!

Wasteful???? Oh dear gawd that hilarious. I wear running socks with my Nike trackies around the house. Actual socks made for running. How wasteful^^ of me.

I also have a commercial grade treadmill in my home gym. I'd better watch out that the wasted products police don't find me.

Don't get me started on my use of a commercial grit tub to house my chicken food.

So you literally buy nothing until your current version falls apart?

The wasteful comment was about replacing shoes based on fashion rather than wear/need. It’s a different poster who is trying to gatekeep running shoes.

Is it still cool to wear hiking trainers if you do actually go hiking in them?

If you mean me, @NewYearNewCalendar , I'm not trying to gatekeep them, but to point out that as leisure shoes you'll be paying a lot for the R&D that allegedly goes into them, and that the shoes aren't particularly durable. There are other Asics shoes that would be more suitable.

The shoe in the link looks like one from a few seasons ago, like you might find in the clearance section on the Acme Sports web site for about £50.

From the price reductions, I'd guess not.

I know - I do see people wearing that stuff along with the more pop culture ones.

@NewYearNewCalendar , if people want to spend £150 0n them because ugly shoes are fashionable, then so be it. I'd prefer the Puma Mayze for £38 - at least they are leather.

I spent £80 on my hokas as I got them in a sale. @KirstenBlest call me shallow but they make me feel good. They are comfy and I love the colour. That is the point of fashion and style, wearing things that you like that you feel good in. I bought my vejas a few years ago on eBay and I'll give them to the charity shop now.

I wear my hokas walking,doing Zumba and just day to day. I hope to at least get a few years out of them. You are missing the point of fashion and pleasure entirely.

I have owned Vejas and Stan Smiths. I didn't find them comfortable. I've read bad reviews about Hoka but that was a while ago. Some of them look cheerful though.

Just because something is fashionable is not enough of a reason to wear it. I didn't wear cold-shoulder tops and I'm not going to wear an oversized blazer.

Has anyone tried Adidas court platform trainers?

Gazelle’s and dunks for me although I really don’t like when dunks start to crease 😢

I still want them to bring back the old style Puma mostro. What a classic.

Yes, I have a pair. Comfortable and easy to keep clean. Usually on offer somewhere too so do shop around.

I'm still wearing Nike Air Jordan low tops and Jumbo Blazers. Both go well with wide leg trousers.

I mostly wear Hokas, they are so comfortable and my old Air and Grace if I want to look a bit smarter.
I like the look of the coloured HOFF for Spring.
But I’m neither young or trendy.

I have about 12 pairs of Converse but I also have AF1s that are about 3 summers old and pristine, turquoise Vans, and 2 pairs of Puma Cali.
I only just got rid of my 2015 Adidas Superstars - will be livid if they come back "in"!

I feel like we are due a resurgence of those black Nikes with a white swoosh that were everywhere about 6 years ago.

Yes! They had some in men’s sizes when I last looked, not in my size though.

I’d also love to find some BNIB vintage New Balance 801s, trail shoes from around 2000. I loved them so much.

I’m on the Flower Mountains. They are amazing. I’ll just wait here until people check the price and then we’ll see who’s ‘wasteful’ 😉

I hadn't heard of a lot of these but just bought some Hoffs after looking them up. Thanks to PP who mentioned them.

I was way in the past with NB 500s and skechers memory foam for when I'm walking lots.

610s are kind of similar? I’d love some ganni ones.
