Morning! I'm starting a new thread before I go to work as it may get filled before this evening.

Mad weather here. I took my cardigan off when shopping this morning. The blouse was enough phew.

KillingMeDeftIy · 16/02/2024 19:25

Meghan’s cosy wardrobe is making me want clothes that it’s far too warm for right now! If I wore the winter white outfit I’d be roasting by the time I’d walked to the tube!

Papergirl1968 · 16/02/2024 22:12

Anne stood in for Charles at a knife crime event. I’m not a fan of brown though.

Have liked Meghan's other outfits so far at the Invictus events but this tan outfit does nothing for her and the gloves make me think of washing up gloves.

The side part really suits her, I know its not currently in fashion but it really looks so much better on most people than a middle part IMHO

I own that DKNY puffer coat, it's really warm, I don't know how she makes it look so elegant, maybe because she wears it open, might try that.

Anyway, I am bemused as to how many coats and boots one would need for a 3 day trip to the mountains..

I love most of them, except the tan cape thingy, looks similar to that tweed number she wore at some event. Looks like she was wearing a lovely cream coat out to dinner, has a really nice high collar, would love to see a full length photo. The earrings she wore with the tan coat are gorgeous.

Maireas · 17/02/2024 07:55

I agree about the tan outfit, it's a sort of cape/coat hybrid and doesn't hang well. I like the colour, though. I also prefer her hair with a side parting, it seems less severe. Nice jewellery this trip.

The tan coat and gloves is a very Mathilde look! A very “wealthy European grand dame” look, which I don’t think really suits Meghan’s more casual style. Neck up she looks lovely though.

RomainesToBeSeen · 17/02/2024 08:48

I've thought exactly the same. And then there are the numerous S&B threads that suggest you can go away for a city break with one small handbag, a clean (but versatile) tee shirt and just wash your pants in the sink! 😂. There must be a middle ground.

I've been a bit underwhelmed by Meghan's clothes on this trip. She always does neutrals so well but I guess I'd hoped to see something a little more interesting, albeit I don't know what. I'm not convinced that the oversized coats with skinny jeans and clumpy boots is her best look and the long gloves are just odd.

Eaumyword · 17/02/2024 09:14

Agree that her side hair parting looks a lot prettier than her severe middle parting.
I quite like that camel/black outfit. Good colour combo. Agree the cape doesn't hang too well and the long gloves look strange - would have worked better with short gloves I think.

KillingMeDeftIy · 17/02/2024 09:17

Who knows? Royals always have excessive amounts of clothing - see Kate’s 101 near-identical green coats! I do wonder whether a lot of Meghan’s is loaned by designers though? I’d not heard of some of the brands she wore on this trip so it’s a good way for them to gain visibility.

There’s also been some sort of formal Invictus reception but annoyingly there isn’t a full length shot of the gown Meghan wore.

Serenster · 17/02/2024 09:38

I agree, KillingMeDeftly, but at least with Kate’s gigantic collection of green coats there’s a possibility she’ll wear them again, as they are well-suited for the British climate. Proper sub-zero weather clothing is more technical than fashion, and let’s face it, Meghan is nt going to be wearing it in Montecito, no matter how chilly those evening sea breezes get! She might pull them out again for the Games proper next year, but based on past form, it’s unlikely.

(In the interests of checking whether I was biased here, I did a look back at Kate’s snow wear. She’s worn the same white jacket on private ski trips from 2008 to 2016. And when in Norway she wore a Norwegian flag-adjacent red and white puffer coat that I don’t imagine we’ll ever see again! She was heavily pregnant with Louis at the time though, so would have needed to accommodate that).

KillingMeDeftIy · 17/02/2024 09:49

I do love the gold Cartier bracelet that Meghan wears a lot. It’s so pretty.

MrsLeonFarrell · 17/02/2024 13:50

The tan outfit is a bit reminiscent of Star Wars, or is that just me? I do like the side parting though, it is less severe than a central one.

Was Invictus actually taking place or was this the pre-event to IG?

Maireas · 17/02/2024 18:07

I thought it was about to start! I was wrong, it's not for a year. They seem to go to a year ahead publicity event.

I liked her blue outfit and the winter white one - both casual but put-together. I never wear brown (school uniform in that colour 55 years ago has still left me traumatised!) so a bit anti the cape thing anyway but it also looks sloppy and sort of blends in with her skin colour - has she got bronzer on? What I've noticed most about Meghan on this trip though has been how relaxed many of the smiles have been, not doing it for the cameras but just having a good time.

Maireas · 18/02/2024 10:18

I like that dress, I thought it was a version of the beige one worn at a recent publicity event, but it is a different style. Very chic. I agree about the eyebrows, they're too thick and heavy. Her hair has looked lovely though, less severe, and the side parting is definitely more flattering.

It’s also Stephanie of Luxembourg’s 40th and no fancy photo shoots in designer gowns for her! Lovely pic with our younger thread mascot though.

The gown is a stunner, Meghan has chosen well

Maireas · 18/02/2024 10:20

She looks lovely in her jumper 😊!
What a gorgeous picture of our mascot (Charles or Francois?). Sooo cute.

The same designer did the green skirt she wore in Ireland, one of my favourites out of her “working royal” ensembles.

I agree. That's one of my favourite looks, too.

I LOVED the copper velvet shoes she wore with that outfit.
