I'd freeze in that (in London) but have mates who would find it too warm, so it's very individual. You also have to consider the thinness/thickness of the fabric, and lining, rather than just the wool content (which is reasonable for the price).

OldBeyondMyYears · 14/01/2024 11:45

It's just a black jacket 🤷‍♀️

DuvetDayer · 14/01/2024 13:52

Re pet hair: available from a well-known online supplier. Drawn along fabrics they pick up hairs and can be used in the washing machine. Highly recommend - they passed the golden retriever fur test!

Found my coat! What do you think?
Alohapotato · 14/01/2024 14:35

It's very elegant but unless you wear a size 16 they are sold out.

Great coat

Mirabai · 14/01/2024 17:46

Honestly? It doesn’t look like a £300 coat. You could get something similar for a fraction of the price. Nor will it be very warm - it’s not 100% wool, it’s not very thick, it’s not very long, is it even lined?

madeinmanc · 14/01/2024 17:48

It's not a jacket, it's clearly a coat.

Howmanyroses · 14/01/2024 17:51

It's a great coat, a true classic and I am sure well-made and nice quality, so will last. Well done OP!

Lovethatforyouhun · 14/01/2024 18:00

No, you cannot get something similar for a fraction of the price and it is lined.

It's smart and classic so you can't go wrong from that point of view. It's more of a smart dress coat I would say, it only has two buttons so won't wrap you up really warm. If I was being critical I would say for the price I would want pure wool, and I think the turned up collar would annoy me. The main thing is if you love it and feel good in it op.

ChimbarasiKotapaxi · 14/01/2024 18:43

It's lovely

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/01/2024 18:48

I like it a lot and I totally agree that all black coats are not equal, and finding the right one makes all the difference.

You will catch your death of cold in it though, so I hope you have a backup puffer for the impending arctic plume.

It is 72% wool and 8% cashmere. Cashmere is warmer than wool so I'm pretty sure the 80% content will be as warm as a 100% regular wool coat.

Do people only have one winter coat? Just an arctic one? People I know have coats of varying weights from a lightweight trench through to something Scott could have used at the Antarctic. This coat looks like a really nice mid weight coat

madamovaries · 14/01/2024 19:12

I think it’s lovely. A classic, wool and cashmere and sharp.

OldKingCole · 14/01/2024 20:44

Beautiful - love it!

MrsMarzetti · 14/01/2024 21:58

I think it is really nice.

measureofmydreams · 14/01/2024 22:26

I like it a lot and I think you'll get lots of wear out of it which justifies the cost. I have a black Jaeger Crombie-style coat I bought 6 years ago, it's classic and always looks good.
I hope you enjoy your coat.

ToffeeCrumble · 15/01/2024 01:50

Very nice

mathanxiety · 15/01/2024 01:58

Lovely coat. Very classy.

urbanbuddha · 15/01/2024 02:09

I really like it - simple sharp cut - great.
(I think it’s right on the borderline of jacket and coat.)

littleblackcat27 · 15/01/2024 05:28

Love it - worth the cash if you wear it every winter for a few years.

I haven't got a smart looking coat now - only ones for walking the dog!

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 15/01/2024 08:39

@TurquoiseTurtoise It's classic and elegant. Perfect choice for a timeless and effortless elegant look.

housethatbuiltme · 15/01/2024 11:06

I dont mean to be rude but since you asked opinions... I clicked the link saw the coat and my brain instantly thought 'Gru' from despicable me.
