When would you wear This? Is it office wear? Casual wear? Could I get away with it at a winter wedding?

Casual for me. I'd wear it to work on a day when I didn't have any important meetings. I wouldn't wear it to work wedding myself.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 07/01/2024 16:57

That's an office and a general every day dress for me.

withthischoice · 07/01/2024 16:57

lunch out with friends

GreatGateauxsby · 07/01/2024 16:58

Everyday or non client office wear

Or just any old wedding...

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2024 17:01

Office if you have fairly formal dress code (it'd be too smart for my work I think) and the thermostat isn't high - it looks quite warm.

I wouldn't have called it 'casual'.
A bit dark for a wedding imo. Funeral in cool weather?

HundredMilesAnHour · 07/01/2024 17:01

It's not wedding appropriate. It wouldn't even be office wear where I work. To me it looks like a dress my teacher DM would wear to work. I guess you could wear it out to Sunday lunch or similar.

cutlery · 07/01/2024 17:02

Great thank you. I love it but wasn't sure if it was too much for the office or when I'd wear it so feel reassured now thank you.

depends entirely on your office surely

DyslexicPoster · 07/01/2024 17:05

I worked one of the top five global IT companies and that would be too smart for work. Interesting how everyone company is different.

SwedishEdith · 07/01/2024 17:07

It'd be smart in my office. I'd wear it but I still try to dress for work rather than wear jeans etc. I'd wear it for an "occasion" outside of work. Maybe even a wedding, depends who was getting married.

Yes, quite. I'd wear it if I had an important meeting.

Downatrack · 07/01/2024 17:11

If this was in a gorgeous fabric it would look great with some bang on accessories, not in cord though. Happy hunting

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 07/01/2024 17:12

Of course you could wear it to a wedding if you want

Applying the MN rules, it isn't too pale, it isn't white or cream, it isn't too short, it isn't attention seeking, it isn't showing flesh , it doesn't have cut outs , it won't confuse guests at a gay male wedding as to who is marrying whom *

You might feel you're underdressed but only you can be the judge of that and whether it would bother you.

*Although you may of course violate the rule about making an effort.

Riverlee · 07/01/2024 17:15

Lovely dress.

Not wedding wear.

Office - depends on office.

Personally, I’d wear it for meeting friends for coffee, going to the pub, or when I feel like wearing a dress rather than than jeans.

Interesting. I'll pay attention to how some of the people the level above me are dressed and if I think this is similar I'll wear it to work. Otherwise coffee and lunch out it is.

It doesn't matter if there is no bride. You don't wear white or cream or like it's your wedding unless it is your wedding

Oh the OP has her views on wedding attire that’s for sure 😂

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 07/01/2024 17:19

SwedishEdith and DyslexicPoster you make excellent points. We're all different.

In my office that dress would be smarter than most and it wouldn't necessarily be the front facing staff who might wear it. It would be perfectly acceptable for a client or external meeting.

I would wear it to the office and I would wear it as a normal, every day at home dress. If I were going out to a pub or restaurant I wouldn't change out of it, unless it were a special occasion.

I wouldn't wear it to a wedding but equally I wouldn't think anything about it if I saw it at a wedding.

PurplePansy05 · 07/01/2024 17:23

Definitely not appropriate for a wedding.

It's an autumn/winter afternoon tea dress, catch up with your girlfriends, maybe theatre.
