When would you wear This? Is it office wear? Casual wear? Could I get away with it at a winter wedding?

I think it is a bit dreary so never.

EllaPaella · 07/01/2024 17:26

I really love it.

Definitely not appropriate for a wedding.

It's an autumn/winter afternoon tea dress, catch up with your girlfriends, maybe theatre.

Perfect thanks

Funeral.

OneFrenchEgg · 07/01/2024 17:30

I would wear this dress if...I was Kate Middleton trying out a casual church vibe

Yes I'd assumed that's why that poster had posted that comment..

oh but loads of posters have daft rules about weddings. loads and loads

Mumaway · 07/01/2024 17:31

Office, lunch with the girls...nothing fancy/formal

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 07/01/2024 17:31

I like it although if I owned it I might change the buttons.

So far as suitability for a wedding, I forgot the MN rules of no red, no green and no black, but it's all good there too.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 07/01/2024 17:32

Upper end of office wear. Not wearing wear.

I think it's the type of dress that's smart, safe and respectful.

It would take a lot of lift it from that to anything else. No amount I'd styling or pops of colour etc.

Interview wear, giving a speech, cutting a ribbon at at opening ceremony, funeral etc.

It'll never be fun but a safe on to have in thr wardrobe fir when you want to look well but not stand out.

Hang on is it navy? (turns up phone light)

yeah I’d go with what @PurplePansy05 said, but it’s still very austere.

BangingOn · 07/01/2024 17:35

Someone in my office wears this dress to work with white trainers, I like it.

HoneyBunnii · 07/01/2024 17:35

Definetly perfect for a funeral.. looks so sombre and dull..

That’s a pretty ordinary day dress. Not a dress up dress for a wedding at all.

RunnerDown · 07/01/2024 18:19

I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding. But I think it’s a gorgeous dress which could be worn to almost ant other occasion

Gwenhwyfar · 07/01/2024 18:47

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 07/01/2024 16:57

That's an office and a general every day dress for me.

I knew some people would say it was an every day dress because this kind of thing comes up often on MN as a dress for a pub lunch or other casual thing, but where I live nobody wears long winter dresses every day.

AuntieStella · 07/01/2024 18:55

Bit austere for a wedding

Good for a passing out parade at Sandhurst. Or for a funeral.

It would be fine at my old workplace

Doggymummar · 07/01/2024 19:25

It's casual, I would wear it walking the dog round town, going for a coffee meeting a friend. Not smart enough for work for me, being corduroy.

Loussa · 07/01/2024 19:26

When/if I transformed into Kate Middleton or someone else uncomfortable with their lowly middle class upbringing

Loopytiles · 07/01/2024 19:28

On an outing / jolly holidayin central London with Jane, Michael & Bert

CurlewKate · 07/01/2024 19:30

Only on Mumsnet is this a dog walking dress!!!!🤣

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/01/2024 19:31

I'm not mad on the horizontal seam across the hips. If it's the Me&Em dress I think it is, there must be nicer dresses for the best part of £300. It's a bit confused. The cut is really formal, but corduroy tends to be casual.
