When would you wear This? Is it office wear? Casual wear? Could I get away with it at a winter wedding?

I really don't like it at all. I can't imagine it would be flattering on anyone.

I think you'd need to be tall and slim - if you're short then this sort of style only works if it's in properly proportioned petite sizes and you're slim.
When I'd wear this would be 'in the 1980s/early 90s if it was in petite cut and I had some good boots'Grin

I like it, and the similar button-through dress -- except for the puffed sleeve that Me & Em put on every dress and top. Their love of puffed sleeves ruins everything they do that I would otherwise buy.

It's a bit Kate Middleton for me but would be office-appropriate if you had external meetings or presentations. I think it would be OK for a deepest winter job interview too. Bit too formal otherwise. (Arts/charity sector)

Dog walking in town to meet friends in a cafe is what I said. Not tramping the Moors

but not suitable to just meet friends in town in a cafe? then you’d dress up more?!

that’s quite…. specific!

I'd wear it to an interview to be Mary Poppins.

If it's not going to be worn by a librarian during a dom session, then it could be book wormed up by accessorising with a brown leather satchel and a good vintage/classic book. You really need to wear glasses and sensible court shoes if you're commited to the look. Then hang out at a literary festival or swan around academia. Maybe that's what this dress was made for. I don't know, but it's not for many occasion.

I think it is a bit dreary so never.

Edited

It's very sober,so suitable for a funeral and that's about it.

I like navy, I like very fitted shirtwaister dresses, I like fine needle cord so I should like this, but….. There’s too much going on and that hip seams spoils the line. It would work better in a wool challis/fine flannel if it was to be an occasion dress or for a very smart work meeting. Too dreary for a winter wedding, IMO.

It could be a medium level work meeting dress, to meet friends for coffee or, as had been said, a funeral or other solemn occasion.

it’s a bit prison warder circa 1930 and now I’ve thought that I can’t unsee it 😟

Styled it ? You mean wearing it with a pair of boots?
