Has anyone tried the gingham dress? Only XXS left - I would probably have chanced an XS but reviews verge from too tight in the bodice to even the XXS swamped. https://www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/gathered-sleeve-shore-gingham-dress-bark

Yes, me. It is a gorgeous dress, lovely soft fabric, flowy etc. I bought a Small and an a size 10 with 30F chest size. However I have had two and both developed the same fault with the arm coming away from the bodice (on one of them it was both sides). This happened on the first wear each time.

Noeggsontoast · 10/01/2024 13:01

@Theteapotsbrokenspout lovely jacket!

After returning my earlier purchases this week I bought in the restock today the alpaca collared sweater in grass green. I'd missed out on it in earlier stages of the sale. I hope the colour lives up to my on screen expectations!

ScottishMouse · 10/01/2024 13:41

Well, the problems continue. I just received an order which included a pair of pjs. The top arrived, but not the bottoms! I just spoke to someone on chat and they said they would send the bottoms, but the top didn’t fit so I don’t want them. They said there would be a note on my account for when I return them, but I am concerned it won’t be straightforward.
Everything else in the order was a total flop, apart from the Gala block print quilt, which is lovely, but the colours are all wrong in my bedroom. Am going to see if DD would like it for her bedroom. I think she will say no, as our tastes are not the same ever, so it may yet be going back.

ScottishMouse · 10/01/2024 13:42

Still no decision on the poncho/scarf.

ScottishMouse · 10/01/2024 13:43

Jacket looks great on you @Theteapotsbrokenspout

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/01/2024 13:50

Thanks for the jacket love, it was one of those pieces you put on and feel as if it had always been yours. Washable too which is a bonus with owning dogs.

Neither pair of shoes I was interested in have turned up in the restock, which is probably just as well as I seem to have spent quite a lot. However, I think my spending has been better thought out, more on pieces I need, apart from the jumpsuit and another 4 pairs of socks Blush (but then you always need socks).

AmethystMoonShine · 10/01/2024 14:12

I'm with you on the socks @Theteapotsbrokenspout ...I made four orders, each contained socks and I've kept all the socks!

Actually, I lie, I did send back one pair that didn't feel worth the money. It's been the Japanese socks and some lovely soft ribbed ones that have been my favourites this time.

ScottishMouse · 10/01/2024 14:36

Just packing up my orders to return and thought I’d try the chambray shirt with the frill collar again. The collar does nothing for me at all, and this one is also uneven. But what if I were to remove it? I have tucked it in here, but k think it could work. Maybe even as a little jacket in the summer? Thoughts?

That actually looks really nice @ScottishMouse !

so does the jacket @Theteapotsbrokenspout - I had one in that double faced fabric once and it was so soft and hung beautifully

sonjadog · 10/01/2024 16:21

How much would it cost to have it fixed the way you want, or is it something that you can do yourself? I have had the same thought about items I have ordered, but around here it would cost me at least as much if not more than the price I paid to get them adjusted to suit me, which defeats the purpose of buying in the sale. So I have always ended up deciding to send the item back and rather buy something that suits me better without adjustment.

But I think it does depend on how the cost for the adjustments, how easy you can access an someone who can do it, etc. The shirt looks nice without the collar.

OftenOrange · 10/01/2024 16:22

@Theteapotsbrokenspout The jacket is very nice and really suits you . It’s one of those Toast pieces you’ll wear and wear.
@ScottishMouse It does seem a shame to remove the collar , maybe wear it tucked in for a while in case the collar grows on you ?

ScottishMouse · 10/01/2024 16:34

Thanks @faustina , I rather like it too. It looks nice open over a dress for summer too.
@sonjadog , it would be a very easy fix I could do myself.
@OftenOrange , it does seem a shame but I have too short a neck for frills I have decided, plus the collar is completely uneven on this particular one. If I liked the collar I couldn’t keep it as it is.

sonjadog · 10/01/2024 16:37

@ScottishMouse In that case, I would go for it! It looks like it could be a very useful item.

Dee1224 · 10/01/2024 16:44

Lovely jacket @Theteapotsbrokenspout

That’s a nice colour on you @ScottishMouse - if you do want to keep it and alter the collar, you should complain about the wonky collar - they may well offer you a small discount which would be some compensation for the faff of having to fix/remove it!

I have just ordered another bauble, (I think I have a problem…)

MiracleToast · 10/01/2024 17:08

@Dee1224 that just made me laugh out loud 😂 How many baubles do you have now? Are they being sent in ginormous brown paper sacks?

MiracleToast · 10/01/2024 17:09

@ScottishMouse my vote now changes to keeping both poncho and scarf due to returns 😇

MiracleToast · 10/01/2024 17:10

@Theteapotsbrokenspout that jacket is gorgeous and looks brilliant on you

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/01/2024 17:20

@Dee1224 Grin Your postie must wonder what’s going on, one bauble at a time.

OftenOrange · 10/01/2024 17:28

Today I received the panelled stripe and check cotton dress , I really like it far more than expected. The cotton is very light and fine, and the blue is much deeper and richer than shown. It will be really useful to wear to the beach and I don’t so far have a light cotton dress with long sleeves.
For anyone considering it the sizing is more or less normal high street , my usual Toast S is perfect , quite neat around bodice and shoulders and not at all roomy like many of my other dresses.
The other item is the tie neck silk linen top in canvas …a very dark cream. It’s very long and looks really weird over my wideleg trousers. A lovely thing but it’ll go back tomorrow .

ScottishMouse · 10/01/2024 17:39

Oh good idea @Dee1224 !

@MiracleToast i’ll be bring all my returns to a store after all the nonsense with postal returns. Yesterday I was leaning towards the scarf, today I’m leaning towards the poncho or neither. I don’t really need another scarf.

Dee1224 · 10/01/2024 18:02

🤣@MiracleToast - I bought two large baubles when the sale first started, (to join those bought in SM in November and the bargain ones from the 2022 pop up).

I then got overexcited by the restock yesterday and ordered one more and then today the lovely red allum came back into stock…

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I was already embarrassed when Toast sent out the previous bauble in its own box 😱 I don’t know why they didn’t put it with the rest of my order!

I am now on the hunt for a glass bowl in which to display them in all their glory.

Dee1224 · 10/01/2024 18:06

My blue floral nightie finally arrived - unlike the previous one this isn’t faulty, but it seems more billowy and unflattering than my Painted Falls and red floral versions. I am leaning towards keeping, though, as the cotton softens with washing and just feels lovely.

I was too slow ordering the matching pjs today, (which is just as well, as I just wanted them for the bottoms to wear with the nightie, as I dislike button front pj tops).

Dee1224 · 10/01/2024 18:07

Lovely colours in that dress @Theteapotsbrokenspout
